Our general dentist, was born and raised in Southern California and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of California, Long Beach. He went on to USC where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, graduating in the top 1% of his class.
During his time spent at USC he received numerous awards including the Carl Reiter Scholarship for providing Excellence in Cosmetic Dentistry, and is a current member of the Newport Harbor Academy of Dentistry located in Newport Beach.
After graduating from dental school, Dr. Boerner worked in the low-income areas of Los Angeles providing dental care to needy families. He then went to work as an associate in Irvine, California in a high end dental office that focused on cosmetic dentistry.He is currently a member of USCs faculty, and spends much of his free time teaching and mentoring dental students.

Ruthene Boerner, our hygienist, has many years of experience and is loved by her patients many of which have been with her for more than 20 years. They would drive hours out of their way to what ever office she worked at so that she could remain being their hygienist.
Over the years, she has worked for some of the top periodontists and general dentists in California. Her knowledge and expertise has made her an invaluable asset to our office and we our proud to have her on our team.

I had an emergency dental situation the day before Thanksgiving and called Newport Bay Dental at 10AM. They were very nice and scheduled me an appointment at noon same day. I hadn't been to the dentist in around 6 years and was very nervous about it. Dr. Boerner is the nicest dentist I've ever been to and the only one in 33 years that hasn't made me nervous / self conscious about my teeth. My tooth pain was near unbearable, but Dr. Boerner gave me a series of Novocaine shots with adequate time in between to allow everything to go fully numb before operating. He did a quick root canal and made the experience pleasant, telling jokes and being personable throughout. The chair was very comfortable, each has a personal TV playing the food network (though he told me I could watch whatever I wanted). At the end, Dr. Boerner gave me his cell phone number and asked to call or text over the weekend if anything was hurting, and told me he'd be happy to come back in and do a follow up cleaning in their off hours if I had any issues. Tooth feels 1000x better now, literally saved my Thanksgiving! Went back in for follow up today and was a similar experience. I asked about fixing my crooked teeth down the line and he said I'd be a good candidate for Invisalign which he can do in house when my crown / cavity work is finished. In a week's time, I'm no longer afraid of the dentist. Highly recommend Newport Bay Dental for any people that are afraid of the dentist, regardless of teeth issues!

First met Dr. Boerner today for a consultation . Dr was highly recommended by my company who not only sends there client to him but also the employees . I have super high anxiety and I felt comfortable made my visit enjoyable. We shared a community interest In keeping people smiling I highly recommend this office Sincerely A soon to be smiling return customer !

Outstanding, he is the best dentist I have incurred in over 60 years of seeing dentists. He will not tell you something that is nothing but the absolute truth, plus give options and what would each will or not do for you.
