A lot has happened since Chestnut Oak Dental opened this past April. Both Dr. Pirraglia and assistant Nancy Smith have since retired, and new team members have come on board. In addition to Gloria McVey, Bridget O'Brien, Jen MacEntee, Loretta Rizzo and Lori Greene, we welcomed Lizzette Caro and Judy Cummings to the practice.Dr. Costigan feels extremely fortunate to have such an amazing group of professionals working alongside her. Dr. Mary Costigan has been in the dental field for almost three decades. After working as a dental assistant, she pursued her dream to become a dentist and graduated from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1999. She completed her general practice residency at the Manhattan Veterans Administration Medical Center. She trained at the Manhattan Veterans Administrations Program for Prosthodontics and became a prosthodontist, a dentist who specializes in the restoration and replacement of teeth. After finishing the program, she began working in private practice. She later completed advanced training at New York Universitys Implant Fellowship program under the tutelage of the internationally renowned Dr. Dennis Tarnow. She worked as a private practice associate in New York City and the Hudson Valley for 17 years prior to the formation of Chestnut Oak Dental.
Dr. Costigan is a member of the AmericanDentalAssociation, the New York State Dental Association, the Dutchess County Dental Society,andthe American College of Prosthodontists. She lives in Cold Spring and enjoys spending time with her two children, volunteering for Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, playing guitar and drums, and songwriting. She looks forward to serving the community and fulfilling the mission statement of Chestnut Oak Dental.
Dr. Joseph Pirragliapracticed dentistry for over 42 years. He graduated from New York University College of Dentistry in 1979. After dental school, he completed a general practice residency at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Montrose, New York. In 1986, he purchased the dental practice in Cold Spring, NY from its original owner,Dr. Klein. After working with Dr. Costigan in the recent transfer of the practice, Dr. Pirraglia has now moved on to retirement. We are grateful for his assistance and kindness in the transfer, and we wish him and his family all the best in this next phase of his journey. He will clearly be missed by his patients.
