A lot has happened since Chestnut Oak Dental opened this past April. Both Dr. Pirraglia and assistant Nancy Smith have since retired, and new team members have come on board. In addition to Gloria McVey, Bridget O'Brien, Jen MacEntee, Loretta Rizzo and Lori Greene, we welcomed Lizzette Caro and Judy Cummings to the practice.Dr. Costigan feels extremely fortunate to have such an amazing group of professionals working alongside her. Dr. Mary Costigan has been in the dental field for almost three decades. After working as a dental assistant, she pursued her dream to become a dentist and graduated from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1999. She completed her general practice residency at the Manhattan Veterans Administration Medical Center. She trained at the Manhattan Veterans Administrations Program for Prosthodontics and became a prosthodontist, a dentist who specializes in the restoration and replacement of teeth. After finishing the program, she began working in private practice. She later completed advanced training at New York Universitys Implant Fellowship program under the tutelage of the internationally renowned Dr. Dennis Tarnow. She worked as a private practice associate in New York City and the Hudson Valley for 17 years prior to the formation of Chestnut Oak Dental.
Dr. Costigan is a member of the AmericanDentalAssociation, the New York State Dental Association, the Dutchess County Dental Society,andthe American College of Prosthodontists. She lives in Cold Spring and enjoys spending time with her two children, volunteering for Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, playing guitar and drums, and songwriting. She looks forward to serving the community and fulfilling the mission statement of Chestnut Oak Dental.
Dr. Joseph Pirragliapracticed dentistry for over 42 years. He graduated from New York University College of Dentistry in 1979. After dental school, he completed a general practice residency at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Montrose, New York. In 1986, he purchased the dental practice in Cold Spring, NY from its original owner,Dr. Klein. After working with Dr. Costigan in the recent transfer of the practice, Dr. Pirraglia has now moved on to retirement. We are grateful for his assistance and kindness in the transfer, and we wish him and his family all the best in this next phase of his journey. He will clearly be missed by his patients.

Outstanding professional staff; Dr. Costigan was able to repair my old broken and chipped front teeth and make them look better than my original equipment. Dr. Costigan is extremely conscientious and strives for perfection in her art, craftmanship and dental profession.

Absolutely wonderful office! The first time that I had been to the office was after my dentist retired and I had a dental emergency. Dr. Costigan and her staff saw to it that I received the care I needed as soon as possible. I knew this was the dentist for me at that point. A very pleasant office to work with and the staff in general is extremely accommodating. I am typically a nervous person when going to the dentist however Dr. Costigan and staff explain all that is happening every step of the way. I would absolutely recommend this practice to those in need of dental services.

We are giving Dr. Costigan 5 stars because they won't let us leave 10. She was recommended to us by an oral surgeon. We were told finding another prosthodontist of her caliber might require a trip into mid town Manhattan. That was an eye opener that we were on the right track. My husband had serious and complicated issues that we did not feel comfortable getting addressed by anyone other than a top doctor. She certainly is that. Reviews say she is a perfectionist. She definitely is! If she is not satisfied with the first mold, she does it again until it is literally perfect---absolutely perfect! My husband refers to her as an artist. Each patient is approached as her masterpiece and she gives each patient the time required to create a masterpiece. If your teeth, smile or health, or that of someone you care about, is important to you---then she really is the best choice. As for us, we thank God that there is still a doctor who takes pride in their work---and that she does!

Great experience here. Facility is clean and well kept. The staff is very friendly and personable. Dr Costigan is absolutely phenomenal and very caring. I left feeling much much better! Definitely recommend!!

Dr. Costigan is not only an incredibly talented dentist and prosthodontist, but also a genuinely kind person. My experiences with her have all been outstanding- she is clearly a doctor that cares for her patients and the results she gets are amazing. Highly recommend her practice, you will not be disappointed.

In the middle of COVID my dentist of almost 30 years retired and I dreaded starting over with a new dentist. My old dentist referred me to this practice and I'm so glad he did. Dr. Costigan and her entire staff are wonderful.There isn't enough room for all the adjectives that I would like to use; painless, thorough, professional and super friendly are just a few. Dr. Costigan is an absolute perfectionist and will not let you out of the chair until everything is done to her satisfaction and yours. Highly recommended!

Finally went back to the dentist after two years of Covid. I was so fortunate to find them. Everyone is responsive, professional and good at what they do. It's truly a team effort and I am so grateful. Thanks especially to Judy who does a terrific job with periodontal deep cleaning. I recommend this practice.

I was initially nervous about seeing a new dentist after so many years with Dr. Pirraglia, but there was no need. Dr. Costigan is amazing and her staff top notch. They truly care about your well-being and do everything to make your visit comfortable. I will recommend Chesnut Oak Dental to anyone who asks.

Dr. Costigan is one of the most compassionate and pain free dentists I have ever met and she is extremely talented and thoughtful about her patients. Chestnut Oak Dental is an attractive country dental office that uses state of the art equipment and procedures. Mary Costigan, DMD and prosthodontist, hygienist Jen and assistant Bridgette are all very skilled and experienced. They are friendly and caring and do their best to make your visit pleasant. We have been there several times and recommend them highly.

When notified that Dr.P was retiring. I was terrified. He had been my dentist since my first dental visit. I decided to give Dr. Costigan a try and oh my.. SOOOO glad I did. She and her staff made my children and I feel right at home. Dr. C even made an after hours check in to make sure my youngest son was okay! Still has the same small town feel. Not only is her work great but her compassion for others shows immensely.Thank you for all of your hard work in getting acclimated to your new office. Also thanks to Dr.P for carefully waiting to find the "right fit" until you retired. In my opinion you could not have found a better person for the job. I was a little concerned when I learned that Dr. Pirraglia was selling his practice. I had been seeing him for years. Well, my fears were alleviated with my first contact with Chestnut Oak Dental. I had broken a tooth and called first thing Mon. morning. Within 15 minutes I was in the chair and Dr. Costigan was checking me out and she wasn't even supposed to be working that day. She had just come in to do some paper work. The entire staff was great. I couldn't be happier.

I rarely write reviews but I just went to this office for the first time and was blown away by their service - I have to share. The office is in an unassuming building behind Yannatelli's Wines & Spirits and when I walked in I was so pleasantly surprised by the inviting atmosphere and kind woman working the front desk. She knew exactly who I was and brought me back to the the doctor immediately. I saw Dr. Mary Costigan and Bridget O'Brien and both were incredibly friendly and easy to talk to. They were patient and very thorough with my exam. I was impressed from the moment I stepped in to the moment I left. I'm moving and I'm so sad I finally found a dentist I love and they will be far away. I truly hope they succeed as I know they are a new practice and I hope everyone gives them a chance. You won't be disappointed!!

I have been a patient of Dr. Pirraglia for over twenty years and will truly miss his professionalism and wonderful bedside manner, however, my first visit with Dr. Costigan assuaged any concerns of this type of patient experience continuing, very professional, great bedside manner, a great overall experience.

So happy to go here! I have hated going to the the dentist and often avoided it. Mary and her staff are incredibly friendly, caring and helpful. They made me feel so comfortable.They are very gentle and thorough. The office is clean and comfortable. I am so very happy my children can go here and we are all in the same office and I couldn't ask for a better experience. I certainly do not mind going to the dentist anymore. Thank you!
