Dr. David Zug first opened this dental practice on the square in Manheim in 1983, after receiving his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree (DMD) from the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Dental Medicine earlier that year. Dr. Zug received training in all the fields of general comprehensive dentistry, and completed numerous externships in the specialties of the Profession while at the University of Pittsburgh. He also was very involved in Organized Dentistry, having served as the Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine President, and Trustee of the Northeast Regional Dental Schools. Dr. Zug received his undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree from the Pennsylvania State University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in Honors Biology in 1978.
A Lititz native, Dr. Zug returned to settle in Manheim with his wife Claudia, who is originally from Manheim. Together they chose the quaint and charming town square to locate their home and office in the fall of 1983. They now have three grown children, David, Graham, and Daneen, all Penn State graduates. With Dr. Zug and his staff deeply embedded in the Manheim community, the practice has thrived alongside all the hometown developments of the area. Dr. Zug serves the Manheim Central School District as the School Dentist, while assisting numerous sports teams, and various Lancaster County and Manheim area organizations.
While at the University of Pittsburgh dental school Dr. Zug expounded on his broad clinical training by completing several advanced programs in specialty and general dentistry at Allegheny General Hospital, Erie Veterans Administration Hospital, and Westmoreland Regional Hospital. Since then Dr. Zug maintains a very active continuing education program in multiple disciplines including general dentistry, advances in esthetics, orthodontics, emergency care, and new materials and technology. He is a lifetime member of the United States Dental Institute, Lancaster County Dental Society and Pennsylvania Dental Association along with the American Dental Association. Dr. Zug is an active participant in the Seattle Study Club, and multiple educational and advancement programs through both university and private organizations.
Although there are many accomplishments that Dr. Zug has had in his life he is most proud of thequality of Dentistry that he has brought to his patients, and for the pleasant atmosphere he has created in his office. This dental practice is truly a gathering of friends, benefitting from exceptional dental care. Together, Dr. Zug and his staff continue to give Manheim and Lancaster County Something to Smile About!
Our newest addition to the practice is Dr. Daneen Zug! Yep, you guessed it: Dr. Daneen is the daughter of our very own Dr. David A. Zug.Dr. Daneen adds a fresh new outlook on dentistry! She graduated with her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore in May of 2016. UMB is listed in the top 5 dental schools in the country! While in dental school, Dr. Daneen was involved in many school organizations. Her most profound influences were serving on the executive board for the American Association of Women Dentists and participating in the schools Recruitment and Admissions Committee where she helped to select qualified applicants for admissions into the program. Due to her excellence in both didactic and clinical performances, she was awarded membership to the Gamma Pi Delta Prosthodontic Honor Society.
While in dental school, Daneen served and furthered her education as a member of the Aesthetics & Cosmetics Dental Society, American Student Dental Association, Christian Medical & Dental Association, Oral Diagnosis Study Club, Special Care Dental Association, and the Psi Omega Dental Fraternity. Dr. Daneen volunteered regularly for the Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity, and even visited Maryland elementary schools to provide dental exams, place sealants, and encourage proper oral hygiene. During her final year of training she was selected to a clerkship providing dental care to survivors of domestic violence. Her experiences in dental school include over 8 weeks of externships at the Wellspan York Hospital and the UM clinic in Perryville, Maryland. Here she was able to advance her education and abilities by hands-on learning outside of the school environment.
Prior to dental school, Daneen graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology, Movement Science. She also started and served as a captain of the PSU Division I field hockey team. Daneen now resides in Manheim and is very involved with the community. She is a volunteer coach for the Manheim Central High School Field Hockey Team and accepted a position to coach with the Lanco Premier Field Hockey for the indoor season this past winter. She is still active in sports, playing in field hockey leagues all year round and even making the commitment to travel back to Baltimore for her dodgeball league in the Fall. Daneens hobbies include boating on the Chesapeake Bay, skiing, traveling, arts, and enjoying time with her family and friends. Daneen embodies the passion and motivation for dentistry that we look for in our team. We believe our staff and our patients are very lucky to have her join our practice!

Incredible rip off business. Way too many uocharges for basic teeth cleaning. Was there 3 times and every time you need deep cleaning up charge. Doubling the cost of a cleaning. Unless you like paying for the luxury office don't ever go there ! Complete scam!

To whomever is reading reviews for this Dental care business, I am 61yrs old and I can personally say that I'm a real wuss,coward, when it comes to getting Dental work done. Always have been. Every time I need some work done, I am nervous for nothing because it is always not what I think it's going to be at Zugs! I've had my share of nite mares in my youth. If I had a choice, from the first time at a dentist, I would choose (Zug Family Dentistry). I've been going to them for probably the last 10 or 15 yrs. And I am totally grateful for them to take me as a patient! You will not find a better Dental practice. If you are fortunate enough to be accepted as a patient with them, compare it to winning a lottery! So don't get your kids nite mares like I've had. I'm a newer patient at Zug's, they were the only one to return my call one weekend when I had a terrible tooth ache. This was in the spring of 2021. Have been a patient ever since. I really like their early morning and evening time slots, which are very convenient to fit around the work day

I was very impressed with the quality of service, thoughtful appointment reminders, and courteous staff. Very nice office too with cool portraits showing in every room or bird feeders showing outside. Highly recommend :)

I highly recommend this place. I just went for an Invisalign consult and everyone was so nice and helpful. On top of that, Laura from the financial department, was very helpful with payment options and understanding. I'm excited to start my journey to straighter teeth! The dentist, Deneen, may be spelling wrong, was so nice and helpful as well. She explained to me the benefits of Invisalign that are more than just cosmetic. Staff also had great precautions in place due to covid. I felt comfortable and safe! Overall, I had a great experience.

Such an amazing dental office! Dr. Deanen is amazing! She is so kind and easy to talk to you and the staff is so nice! You can tell they genuinely care about their patients and they make everyone feel so welcome! The new office looks so beautiful as well, everything is so clean and well taken care of! My bottom teeth have always been crowded, which made my smile not attractive and flossing difficult. Dr Zug showed me what could be done, over a period of several months, by using a clear alignment mouthpiece. I just completed the treatment and I LOVE my new smile. I highly recommend Dr Zug and the entire staff.

Excellent staffing. Staff show sincere interest in their patients. Sound advice on next steps and costs. Beautiful facility and obvious sterilizing and maintaining a clean environment. I would definitely recommend this practice.
