I love to learn things that can help me, my family, and my patients. I always knew I wanted to go beyond the single tooth dentistry taught in dental school and invest in post-doctoral continuing education continuums.
I began my continuing education with the OBI Foundation for Bioesthetic Dentistry where I learned the model of optimal dental health and biologic form of the teeth and jaw joints and how they meet in an optimal occlusion. I was fortunate enough to learn from amazing mentors including Dr. James Benson, Dr. Tom Dumont, and Bern Egger.
After I saw my youngest son go from suffering to thriving after an infant frenectomy, I shadowed Dr. Ghaheri and learned how to use a laser to do a full functional release of the oral restrictions that hold back the optimal expression of biologic form. Tongue ties and lip ties not only affect breastfeeding but also swallowing, speech, muscle tension, TMJ, and sleep apnea. The fascia of the tongue is at the top of the Deep Front Line of fascia that connects from tongue to toes and passes through the diaphragm, deep core, and pelvic floor.
I attended the AOMT Frenulum Inspection & Surgery Workshop and learned about diagnosis and treatment of tongue ties for infants, children, and adults. Thats where I learned that the appearance of tongue ties is much less important than function and symptoms and I became acquainted with Dr. Sourosh Zaghi and his functional frenuloplasty technique.
I completed Orthotropics Mini-Residency with Dr. Bill Hang and he opened my eyes to reading the face to understand the airway and how you cant expand your way out of an anterior-posterior problem. In many cases you also need to develop or move the jaws forward.
I discovered Dr. Jay Harris Levy and I jumped at the chance to learn from him how teeth are sensory organs and how head posture affects occlusion. Jay introduced me to Dr. Joseph Yousefian and the world of Teledontics, a permanent structural solution to Airway Dysfunction and Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
My latest passion is learning and practicing the Gillespie Approach - CranioSacral Fascial Dental Therapy. Dr. Barry Gillespie, a dentist specialist in periodontics, went in search of his own healing from headaches and sinus issues. In the process, he learned and combined the best of cranial osteopathy, craniosacral therapy, fascial therapy, and dental techniques. The Gillespie Approach can be applied to patients of all ages, but it is especially effective when used as early as possible with infants to help unwind fetal positioning trauma and birth trauma before fascial strains and compensations pile up and become symptomatic.
Gillespie ApproachCraniosacral Fascial Therapy is a gentle healing modality that provides patients with a freely moving brain, spinal cord and fascial web, all critical to optimal health. Dr. Barry Gillespie, the founder of this therapy, also created the Baby Brain Score and discovered the Infant-Driven Movement concept and resulting therapeutic techniques for babies.

Doctor zink has been nothing short of amazing with our sons lip and tongue tie. He really made us feel comfortable and the procedure really only took a few minutes. Definitely recommend him.

My son was born with a tongue and lip tie and had a frenectomy done by Dr Zink. He was friendly from start to finish and thorough with the evaluation to solidify the tie and the procedure was super fast. My son healed up great with the follow up stretches post procedure and I am so pleased with my whole experience and would recommend it to anyone experiencing tie issues. We have had no issues on his or my part with breastfeeding!

My 5 month old went in for a Frenectomy. The office was nice, clean and comfortable. The team was so friendly and accommodating. They walked me through the procedure thoroughly and their experience put my mind at ease. I think I only waited about 3 minutes and the procedure was all done! I didn't feel rushed and was able to nurse my baby afterward. They did a great job and I'm so glad we went with Zink Dental!

Our baby boy was born with both an upper lip and tongue tie. The lip tie was very easy to spot, but it wasn't until I had a lactation specialist come over that we confirmed the tongue tie. He was very fussy, breastfeeding was SO painful, and after eating he was uncomfortable. Our first month at home together was a little miserable! Upon our lactation consultant's recommendation we took him to Dr. Zink, as he is the only Doctor in our area that uses a laser to perform the frenectomy (releasing the tongue tie). His office was super clean and inviting, and the staff was really sweet. As a parent, it's never easy to see your baby in pain, and we didn't actually see the procedure but when they brought him back to me I could tell the experience kind of wiped him out. However, we immediately put him on my breast and he latched beautifully (and it didn't hurt)! Over the next week or so, things were a little hard as he healed, but once his mouth fully healed, he was like a different baby. Smiley, content, wonderful eater, etc. We are SO thankful we chose to visit Dr. Zink, and would recommend him to others!

Dr. Zink has revised both of my kiddos ties. My daughters had hers revised at 4 weeks old and my son had his revised at 1.5 weeks old. The procedure was so quick and the healing process was a breeze (as long as you do all the stretches required). Dr. Zink is extremely professional, knowledgeable, and so nice. He went over everything with us and definitely made us feel confident in our decisions. I wouldn't have my babes ties released by anyone but him! He's the real deal!

We are so incredibly thankful that we had Dr. Zink perform our son's frenectomy. Our premie baby had a tongue tie and wasn't nursing well. As brand-new parents, we were tired, stressed and a little scared. Dr. Zink was such a calming presence for us and the procedure went so smoothly. Our premie is now a year old and in the 90th percentile for height and weight! We know that Dr. Zink's work played a major part of that and we are so grateful!
