I love my job! Everyone should be so lucky. My patients and their families are kind and appreciative. The dentists I work with are honest and caring. I have an incredible staff and the work I do each day is exciting and challenging, and makes positive changes in the lives of those in our community. What more could I ask for?

Working with patients who want treatment is fun, because both the patient and I have a common goal and we form a team. I love talking with my adult patients about their lives outside of orthodontics, because everyone has unique and interesting stories. And I love being part of the development of my younger patients, from childhood to adulthood. No matter who I am caring for, seeing their smiles the day we remove their braces, and then seeing them years later and seeing that same beautiful smile and hearing their thanks, is very rewarding.

In the 40 years I have been practicing orthodontics, there have been significant changes in our field. Ive kept up to speed with these developments and continually seek out opportunities to learn about the newest treatments, materials, and technologies.

It is only by being actively engaged in continuing education that I am able to deliver my patients with the highest level of care and orthodontic options that they deserve. As a member in study clubs, the American Association of Orthodontists and the American Dental Association, I have access to the latest literature and attend meeting and lectures at the local, regional, and national levels.

I have lived in the Hamilton-Fairfield area nearly my entire life. I was born and raised in Hamilton and have lived in Fairfield since moving back after school. I have a wonderful family consisting of my wife, Anne, four married children, and 10 grandchildren. I enjoy spending my time away from the practice with my loved ones, as well as boating, golfing, playing cards, and playing the saxophone. In fact, I am the leader of, and a player in, two bands. One is a traditional big band and the other is a smaller band playing music suitable for dances, receptions, and parties.

Orthodontists have been called mini-engineers. I love problem solving and the challenges that each patient presents at every visit. I am a detail oriented person with the ultimate goal of giving every one of my patients a beautiful, healthy smile. Every time I sit down with my patients, I am assessing their progress and making adjustments to get the most ideal result.

Being an orthodontist is fun. I enjoy going to work and interacting with my patients and staff. It is great following a child as they become a young adult and getting to hear about what is happening in their lives along the way. As orthodontics is for patients of all ages, I move from patient to patient throughout the day talking about Disney princesses with one and about the intricacies of the perfect golf swing with the next. Observing a patient's smile and reaction when their braces come off is very rewarding. I like to show patients their inital treatment photos so they can see just how much their smile has changed.

I stay abreast of the newest technology, materials, and treatment methodologies and philosophies through study clubs and meetings of the American Association of Orthodontists as well as the American Dental Association. This ensures I am able to continually improve the scope and depth of the orthodontic treatment delivered to my patients. They trust me to provide the highest level of care available and its my responsibility to do just that.

Growing up in Fairfield, I attended Sacred Heart and then Badin High School. Golf has always been a major part of my life. I played for both Badin and then Xavier University and was a four time MVP at both schools. I was captain of Xavier's golf team and named Academic All American in my Junior and Senior years. After college, I played two and a half years of professional golf on the mini-tour circuit before marrying my wife, Edwina, and starting dental school at the University of Kentucky in 2000. I continued at UK for my orthodontic residency and graduated in 2007.

Edwina is a physician who specializes in psychiatry. We have 4 amazing children, Ava, Jimmy, Vivian, and Bennett, and a golden retriever named Dash. Some of the kids are already talking about joining the practice one day too! As a family, we enjoy boating and attending Xavier basketball games. I enjoy anything outdoors, grilling, and coaching both golf and basketball at Sacred Heart. Our family leads a crazy busy life, but we have lots of fun!

I went to school for many years because I loved the idea of working in a field where I can help people every day. Witnessing the joy on a patients face when they get their braces off and see their new beautiful smile is what being an orthodontist is all about. Every day I get to meet new people and help them obtain the most incredible smile they can.

I love the frequent interaction I have with my patients, which allows me to get to know them on a personal level, and be a part of their lives. I look forward to their visits, the news they cant wait to tell me, and the conversations we share.

Creating amazing smiles, and watching each person evolve from being self-conscious about their teeth to showing off their smile at the end of treatment, is the most rewarding aspect of my career. The fact that I am transforming the life of someone I care about makes my work even more wonderful.

As an orthodontist, its essential I stay at the forefront of developments in the field, from emerging technologies to revolutionary materials and new treatment processes. My patients depend on me to provide them with the highest level of care and care options, and it is incumbent on me to ensure they receive it. Through active participation in local study clubs, and attendance at meetings and lectures for the American Association of Orthodontists and the American Dental Association, I am able to constantly learn and then apply that knowledge to the care I deliver.

Im a native of Fairfield, having moved back here in 2014. My wife Loren and I were married in 2010; we have a lovely daughter, Josephine, and two dogs, Woody and Wendy. While being with my family is always my first choice when Im not caring for patients, I also enjoy golfing, boating, bonfires, grilling, and hanging out with friends.
