Dr. Carmen Ha also graduated from UCSD in 2001 with cum laude honors in majoring in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. She graduated in the same class as Dr. Tang at the UCLA School of Dentistry in 2006. Upon completion of dental school, she continued her dental training through a one-year general practice residency at the Veterans Administration (VA) Sepulveda Ambulatory Care Center. I brought my son here when he was 3. For being a children's dentist they're surprisingly bad with kids. The dentist (not sure of the name but it was a man) walked in didn't introduce himself didn't say hello nothing. He just told my son to open his mouth. My son was nervous and shook his head no and the dentist just got up and left?? I'm SURE it's common for children to be nervous at the dentist and I would expect a children's dentist to take, I don't know, 2 minutes to try to make them feel comfortable? Absolutely no effort was made. The assistant wasn't any better.

I never had a problem before until my daughter needed two fillings. The male dr came in and set the gas on her nose and INSTANTLY started drilling. She started screaming and kicking in pain and he almost kept going! My daughter had to push him away from her, she's only six and now is terrified of the dentist. I will not be bringing her back ever again. He didn't let the gas kick in or try to calm her in anyway nor did they numb her. Don't recommend getting work done here ever for your kids.

Worst place to take your child. If you really want to protect your child's teeth take him somewhere else. This place is just not the right place.

I took my son in for the first time to see this dentist and they did a teeth cleaning in 10 minutes we were in and out. A week later we got told by two staff members that my son had tar. I said he shouldn't because they had just done the cleaning themselves. He needed a crown and he received it, but a week later we were on vacation and his crown fell out. I kept him on Tylenol and toughed it out. I made an appointment for him and my work didn't give me permission to leave work, so I called to cancel the appointment and they refuse to see him for a month!!! They told me I have to take him to any other facility if his pain gets worse. They wont see him for a month and now my son is in pain and he can't even see his own dentist! Unfair that a 10 year old has to suffer.

If you have a bad feeling, run! Dr Ha was set to put braces on my child. Her extensive treatment plan included taking out an adult molar. After going to an actual orthodontist for a second opinion, I learned the treatment plan Dr Ha came up with would have caused problems in the future and she would have removed an important tooth that no orthodontist would ever remove. Its an adult molar which is needed for chewing. It also would have cause too much space causing his other teeth to move, making him more off centered than he already is. According to the actual orthodontist there is no reason to remove any teeth. I've never been impressed by the dentists at this clinic. They are very dry with no sense of humor. They consistently call my son and myself by the wrong names, even when they have been told several times what our names are. I've been putting up with their subpar dental care for two years, because they have our records and no one really enjoys going to the dentist anyway. Now that my son has been checked by an actual orthodontist, I will never step foot back into the Zen Dental clinic. They wanted to mutilate my child and over charge me, even though they do not have the education of experience to handle a case like his. I'm not sure of the number of orthho cases they have actually completed. But if they offer to do your childs braces, please do your research about having them applied by a general dentist vs an Orthodontist. They also would have screwed me financially by not submitting the paperwork to the insurance company ahead of time, so instead of getting 50% paid it would have been denied because they wanted to start treatment before the paperwork was turned into insurance. The only highlight of the our time at Zen Dental was Dental Hygenists Astrid and Paula. They both go above and beyond. I'm not sure if Astrid is still there, but hopefully Paula figures out she could be working for a way better clinic with her exceptional skillset and superior customer service.

I had to click a star just to be able to post how ridiculous! We had a Bad experience with my 12 yr old daughter, while getting fillings and cap, I saw my daughter very uncomfortable holding her hands tight as if in pain, I asked her are you hurting, Dr. and assistant just kept on working with out stopping to ask her, I had to tell them stop so I can ask my daughter if she's ok, her eyes were close tight, and a small block in mouth she could not answer me she just nodded no but could not tell me something flew in her eye, she told me after. As they finished up, I only knew cause I had to ask assistant if Dr. was returning back to room, assistant said oh he's done, what Dr. Dentist just walks out without saying a word!!! He did not even ask my daughter if she's ok, or all done, or at least say goodbye not even reassuring me the mother that it all went well, this Dr. is very unprofessional not a people person not friendly at all. I will not return period, my daughter needs to go back but no I signed a release of records and will find a caring, good, friendly and professional dentist for my kids. I will report this to our family insurance, this is wrong period.

Just took a Phone Call To ruin my day. I took my son to an orthodontist in order for him to get braces, he still has a baby tooth and since Zen Dental has seen him before i called and talked to MARIA, My Paisana. I say that because you expect better service knowing that hey you speak the same friggin language. Anyways. She puts me on hold 3 or 4 times, then she tells me he needs a Deep Cleaning, and that i need to pay an ex amount of money. I let her know his orthodontist said his teeth are fine and just needs the tooth pulled out. Can i please make an appointment to get it pulled out please? " No " He needs a Deep Cleaning, and if we do pull out his baby tooth, he needs a Deep Cleaning within a month or we will drop him. En serio? Seriously? just because insurance only cover regular cleanings, and these assistants are paid to want to make you get a deep cleaning for bonuses is not my fault. I was reading the reviews and really wanted to give this dental place the benefit of the doubt. But Like I said, it only took a phone call to ruin my day... Thanks alot MARIA!!!
