Dr. Van Wagenen is a licensed general dentist at Ze Dental, a comprehensive dental practice in Asheville, NC. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at The University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine in Buffalo, NY, ranked among the top 10 in the nation. During her time in Buffalo, she served as President of the American Association of Women Dentists- Buffalo Student Chapter. Through this role, Dr. Van Wagenen coordinated a new outreach program that provides free dental education and oral health screening for residents at a local womens shelter. She also volunteered her time as a participant in multiple outreach events through Remote Area Medical (RAM), and UBs Smile Education Day.

Dr. Van-Wagenen chose to further her education by completing a residency program at East Carolina Universitys Advanced Education in General Dentistry, located in Sylva, NC. This program allowed her to expand her skills in all aspects of general dentistry, including but not limited to, dental implants, crown and bridge, root canal treatment, extractions, and pre-prosthetic surgery.

While Dr. Van Wagenen had always intended on pursuing a career in dentistry, she obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Respiratory Care at the University of Hartford in West Hartford, CT. She was awarded for Outstanding Academic and Clinical Performed by the Connecticut Society for Respiratory Care. She acquired her certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, which is recognized as the standard of excellence in the field. She worked at Hartford Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center. She currently practices Dental Sleep Medicine by providing dental sleep apnea appliances to patients in the area. She is WNCs only dental provider who was also a certified Registered Respiratory Therapist.

Dr. Van Wagenen remains committed to staying up to date on the current dental literature through Continuing Education. She also continues to practice philanthropy, most recently by providing free dental care at Ze Dentals Dentistry from the Heart event. Her love for animals finds her volunteering at Ashevilles local Brother Wolf Animal Rescue. During her free time, Dr. Van Wagenen enjoys hiking, running, riding bikes, and enjoying the amazing views that Asheville has to offer.

Zoe dental is incredible. They have amazing staff and a wonderful atmosphere. They cater to their patients and strive to make sure that you feel stress free. Even more importantly, their Doctors are wonderful. I had my wisdom tooth pulled and I couldnt have had a better experience. Will definitely recommend!

Ze Dental is a dental heaven! I used to dread visiting the dentist, but Im so happy found Ze because I look forward to seeing them every six months! Their comfort menu is perfect if you experience any anxiety at the dentist or just want a little pick me up during your visit. Their staff members are extremely friendly and courteous; they really take the time to get to know their patients and connect with them. I highly recommend Ze they have made all the difference in my oral health and my overall perception of going to the dentist.

Wish I would have switched dentists sooner. Everyone was very nice, accommodating, and professional. Very nice office with friendly staff. Very much appreciate the add ons such as the massage chair, essential oils and hand wax. So nice to find a place that is truly patient focused.

From the moment you walk through the front door, you are greeted and welcomed like they are so happy to see you! Everyone has such a caring disposition! I had neglected my oral care for a while and had multiple issues. The Dr and staff helped me prioritize my treatment plan based on what was best health wise, and most important to me. And even though my years of neglect presented some challenges, not once did I feel judgement being cast upon me. Just a sincere effort to educate and help me the best way possible within my means! I have been going to Ze dental for the past 7 years. I have always been amazed by the service, the amenities and the welcoming presence of the place. Yesterday I came in to get my teeth cleaned. I had wanted to cancel due to a burgeoning migraine but soldiered on. Im glad I did. My hygienist was kind, empathic and personable. She offered up healing peppermint oil and a neck pillow to enhance my already relaxing heated and back-massaging chair.It was like being at a spa while having a dental cleaning. I am amazed at how far dentistry and patient care has come when you come to Ze dental. This is a great crew, a great space. I highly recommend them for all your dental needs even beyond a cleaning...and believe me Ive had a few!

By far, the best medical practice, let alone dentistry office I have ever been to. I am so astounded by the care and quality provided by Zoe Dental. I have found my forever dentist! Thank you guys for everything you do to make everyone so comfortable AND well informed.

In the past I always experienced anxiety when going to the dentist. My experience with the wonderful staff at Ze has changed that in a big way! They are so professional and comprehensive, and additionally (and very significantly to me) very personable and proactive when it comes to addressing your concerns and comfort during treatment. Maria has been my hygienist for at least two years and thanks to her competence and lovely personality I actually look forward to our twice-yearly checkup get-togethers! Additionally, the front desk staff are warm and able to answer any scheduling or billing questions you might have. All the dentists are wonderful and engender confidence in my family members. Specifically, I see their head dentist, practice owner Dr S., as talented, as a visionary in his field and for his personal practice, and excellent at selecting like-minded staff. Its all a win at Ze Dentistry!
