Dr. Peter A. Zaidel has been practicing general dentistry in Cromwell, Connecticut since his graduation from Georgetown University School of Dentistry School in 1986. The Georgetown University maxim of; the most important step in any procedure is the one youre working on drives his teams goal of providing care that will look great and stand the test of time. He initially worked in the group practice, The Dental Group, prior to acquiring the practice of Dr. Gerhard Weidler in 1992. He takes great pride in the good number of patients he continues to care for from those Dental Group Days.
Dr. Zaidel is an active member of the American Dental Association, The Connecticut State Dental Association, serving as a past delegate, and the Middlesex County Dental Society, serving as past president and currently serving as long term secretary.
He lives in Higganum with his wife, two grown children and their golden retriever. Dr. Zaidel is a Civil War buff, and is currently working on a book on Connecticut Civil War soldiers with Dione Longley entitled Heros for All Time. He has also served on the board of the Middlesex County Historical Society for over twenty five years. He subscribes to the keep the parts moving philosophy and enjoys running, biking and playing golf.
Our hygienists, Kim (joined in 1997), Elwira (joined in 2000) and Jolanta (joined in 2004) are highly skilled, competent and caring. They have a great rapport with all of our patients and will always do their very best to make you as comfortable as possible. They are licensed with the state of Connecticut, and each participates in continuing education annually. They are dedicated to increasing their knowledge and professional skills to benefit our patients.
Christine (joined in 2004), Dr. Zaidels assistant, is x-ray certified and helps Dr. Zaidel deliver the highest quality of care. She takes every measure before, during and after treatment to assure that patient care is as pleasant as can be.
Jill and Cathy (both joined in 1992), our administrative staff, will welcome you when you enter the office. They can answer any questions you have from scheduling, to financial and insurance issues, as well as routine dental concerns.

Generally, people don't look forward to going to the dentist. This is not true when your dentist is Dr. Zaidel. Highly recommended for both emergency visits and routine dental work, Dr. Zaidel and his office couldn't be more accommodating to their patients...especially during a pandemic!

I am so disappointed with this practice, in particularly JILL, the receptionist. I have been going here for DECADES. I love Dr. Zaidel, he is a great dentist. In the past couple years my boyfriend started to go there as well. First they cancelled his appointment in June for Covid which is, of course, understandable. We reschedule for October. She calls and says he has to come in early. He couldnt because he has to work. She tries to do later and he couldnt do that either. We call back and say Fine, he will use work vacation time to come in early she says it's too late and it's taken and if he had stuck to it originally he could have had that appointment (with an attitude) - like it was HIS fault. So she reschedules him for over TWO MONTHS LATER in December. I cant even believe her attitude. Jill calls a couple days before and expect him to come in at a different time, has an attitude because he cant and then gets scheduled over 2 months away AGAIN. UNREAL. I have been going there for over 20 years and with one awful attitude they lost 2 patients.

Dr. Zaidel is a very good dentist, but the office is not well run. Appointments rescheduled on short notice and routinely running late for appointments that they do keep. They called this afternoon (Friday) to reschedule an appointment for Monday. I really like Dr. Zaidel, but his time is no more or less valuable then my time. I have a job, bills to pay, and a schedule to keep as well. There are plenty of dentists around without having to deal with that.

Shocked to see the first 2 reviews on this page. Maybe some times were moved to make way for emergencies? Dr. Zaidel's staff is as friendly and personable as they come! Elvira always makes me feel comfortable and welcome (especially because I HATE getting my teeth cleaned.) She is gentle yet thorough in her cleanings. I've had quite a few cavities and Dr. Zaidel always take the time to explain the process and make me feel at ease. As for Jill, the team is lucky to have her! Her authenticity and care for each patient is above and beyond what I've seen from most receptionists. She truly gets to know everyone who walks through the door and you can tell all of her recommendations are in the best interest of her patients. She once calmed me down during a hysterical panic attack I had after chipping my front tooth- requiring an emergency appointment. It was NOT pretty. I was a mess until Jill helped me through (my tooth looks flawless now btw). I overwhelmingly recommend this practice!

I absolutely love this dentist. I have had to reschedule and then schedule again so many times and Jill was a rockstar and always got me in even if it was last minute. I started with him as a kid and have now taken my own son to him. The hygienists are amazing and the office is always clean. If you want a good family with a staff who will remember you and even call you with reminders when its time to get a cleaning this is a great place to go!

I have been going their my whole Dr.Zaidel is amazing with everyone, the hygienists are as well amazing and my teeth always feel amazing after they are cleaned. And as for Jill she has always been a great receptionist and is always super welcoming and friendly. She is able get you in as soon as she can even with COVID going on, and she knows all of their patients and is able to connect with them. All around a great dental office.

Most of my family have been going here our entire lives. For years we've been treated with respect by not only Dr. Zaidel himself but the hygienists and the main receptionist JILL. Don't know how she does it with all those patients she deals with, an absolute superhero. Nothing but kindness and care all around this office. I highly recommend coming here for teeth cleanings and other mouth concerns. <3

My wife and I have been seeing Dr. Zaidel since the last 80's I think (he was right out of dental school). He's been great. Gives advice, conservative treatment when needed. My teeth have been great since I entrusted myself to his care. I actually just stumbled across this page today because I was referring him to a friend and was surprised at the negative reviews. I've always been able to see him promptly in the case of a dental emergency (thankfully very few and far between).
