Our treatment room amenities include blankets, pillows and music. We use digital X-rays, the safest form of radiography available, while you are protected with a lead apron. Dr. Walker uses computer-assisted injection for local anesthesia called The Wand to alleviate discomfort for our patients. It's just another way Dr. Walker strives to make his patients' dental visits anxiety-free and comfortable!
Needles may be the only thing patients find scarier than going to the dentist. Whether you already suffer from dental phobia or anxiety, are scared of needles or just want the most comfortable and targeted numbing available, the Wand allows our team to provide better and more comfortable local anesthesia.
The Wand looks similar to a pen. You will never see or feel a needle. Instead, youll experience gentle, localized numbing. Traditional local anesthesia numbs large sections of the mouth, making it difficult to speak clearly, chew or even breathe for hours after a procedure. The Wand allows us to numb only the parts of the mouth necessary to perform a procedure. That means you wont feel anything during your treatments, and youre able to get back to your daily routine right away. We use the Wand to make your dentistry experience better, more comfortable and more effective.
Digital X-rays allow us to capture higher resolution images of the underlying structures of patients smiles than traditional X-rays without the high levels of radiation, time consuming film development process, or need for lighted X-ray viewing boards. Instead, digital X-rays are quickly captured and available to view right away on our chairside computer monitors. We can examine these X-rays with you as part of your regular checkup, use them to help you understand oral health concerns and partner with you to create a plan for your ongoing oral health care. Unlike the low-quality film images produced by traditional X-ray systems, our Dexis digital X-ray system produces high-definition X-ray images that can be expanded, color coded and otherwise enhanced to make understanding your oral health care needs completely clear.
Dr. Zack Walker has always wanted to pursue a career that allows him to impact peoples lives directly. Whether hes helping others remove pain due to a damaged tooth or restoring damaged teeth, Dr. Zack is incredibly satisfied by improving peoples smiles and oral health. As the son of two skilled dentists, Drs. George and Veronica Walker, Dr. Zack has dental care in his blood. Working with his parents and seeing the effect of their work in the community inspired Dr. Zack to follow in their footsteps. Hes very excited to finally be apart of the team after completing his education and residency.
Dr. Zack began his education at Wake Forest University where he studied biology and chemistry. He earned his doctorate of dental surgery from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry and graduated with honors in 2017. He then completed the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program in Elizabeth City through the East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Zack loves working with patients of all ages to achieve their smile goals. He is dedicated to continuing education courses so he can offer a wide range of dentistry services, including advanced oral surgery and endodontic (root canal) treatments. He especially enjoys advanced restorative and cosmetic cases where he gets to partner with patients to create a beautiful smile they feel proud to share. Dr. Zack maintains professional membership in the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry.
When hes not hard at work helping patients, Dr. Zack enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking, fishing, golfing, and visiting the beaches of North Carolina. He also enjoys cooking and spending time with his wife, Kim, and their dog Bubba. One interesting fact about Dr. Zack is during his undergraduate education at Wake Forest, he studied echolocation in bats, which is the use of biological sonar by animals to understand their surroundings.
Kim has 30 years experience as a dental assistant and joined our team in 1991. Since then, Kim has been hard at work helping patients achieve their healthiest, most beautiful smiles in complete comfort and relaxation. In addition to being a dental assistant, Kim studied dental radiography at Guilford Technical Community College. She also studied infection and hazard control and coronal polishing at Wake Forest University and maintains current CPR certification. A native of Greensboro, NC, Kim enjoys visiting the beach, gardening, and spending time with family. Kim grew up on a farm and is an animal lover.
Since 2007, Barbara has worked hard to help patients get the dental care they need within their schedule and budget. Barbara continues to learn and educate herself on patient safety and is CPR certified. Originally from Center Moriches, New York, Barbara has lived in Kernersville since 2006. She is happily married with three children. She enjoys camping, hiking, biking, and spending time with her family and dogs.
With more than four decades of dental experience, Eleni joined our team in 2002. Since then, she has gone above and beyond to make sure our patients are able to achieve and maintain their highest level of oral health. She earned her dental hygiene degree from Guilford Technical community College and maintains her continuing education hours and CPR certification. Outside the dental office, Eleni is the proud parent of a daughter and son, and she enjoys reading and spending time with friends and family.
With more than 20 years in the dental field, Stephanie has been a member of our team since 1995. She studied dental hygiene at Guilford Technical Community College, is CPR certified and completes continuing education hours each year to maintain her knowledge of advances in the field. A native of Thurmond, NC, Stephanie is married and a proud mom to a son and daughter. She enjoys traveling, scrapbooking and participating in outdoor activities.
Alli joined our team in July of 2019, shortly after receiving her certification as a dental assistant. She is CPR certified and also studied dental radiography and infection control. Patient experience is one of her top priorities, and she works hard to make sure you feel comfortable in the dental office. Outside of work, Alli enjoys spending time with family and friends, cake decorating, and spoiling her two dogs.
