Dr. Kera Young is a native of St. Petersburg, Florida. She graduated cum laude from Talladega College in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. She later went on to Meharry Medical College, School of Dentistry where she graduated with honors with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1996.
Dr. Young also served in the United States Navy from 1996-1999 where she received several awards including her Naval Accommodation Medal, AEGD Residency and Officer Leadership certificate. She later continued her training by completing a two year Pediatric Dentistry residency at the university of Florida from 2004-2006. Dr. Young is a member of American Dental Association, West coast Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Florida Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Tampa Bay Pediatric Dental Association, Pedo-Gator Dental Association and Meharry Medical College Alumni Association.
She has been in practice for the past 14 years and locally for the past eight years in Sebring, Tampa, New Port Richy, Lakeland and St.Petersburg before opening her own practice in Gibsonton at Young Smiles Pediatric Dentistry & Spa, where she offers Preventive, Rrestorative, Conscious Sedation, and in office I.V Sedation for children, adolescence and special need patients. Dr. Young is committed to the education and motivation of children regarding the importance of health care. She promotes health awareness in the community by talking to local Pre-school, elementary and college students about the importance of dental treatment. She has given several Sugar-Bug presentations to emphasize preventive care and promote the importance of good oral hygiene and nutrition.
At Young Smiles, we offer dental services on a fee-for-service basis. We specialize in providing high-quality dental care from the wee ages to early adulthood. As your dental health partner, we encourage our parents to join our team during dental interventions. We believe in holistic care, and we encourage our patients to practice good dental hygiene through motivation, education, and healthy relationships. We actively encourage dental hygiene at the earliest possible age as we know this will help your child transition into adulthood with a healthy, and vibrant smile.
At Young Smiles, we love extraordinary dental health and we provide our patients with strategies to help them get there! We boast a No Cavity Wall where kids are encouraged to join our wall of fame, and we provide interventions to help our patients achieve this healthy goal. We understand that cavities can be inevitable, and we work diligently to fix each and every tooth should the need arise. We offer lots of healthy tips for maintaining healthy teeth and a brilliant smile. My 15 month old loves Young Smile Pediatric Dentistry! We love everyone from the front desk receptionist, dental assistants to the dentist herself..Dr. Young. We just left yesterday and loved they had the kids come dressed up in Halloween costumes. This dentist office is clean and has an amazing friendly vibe to it. My little one and I are so happy with this dentist office. And Dr Young energy is AMAZING! I wish she could be my dentist lol. You will not regret choosing this practice!

If you are looking for a dentist for your kids look no further. I was very impressed with my kids experience at Young Smiles. I was able to get a quick appointment for them. The staff was very friendly and professional. My LO was really nervous about her visit but they were patient with her. She even woke up this morning talking about how nice they were to her and how brave she was. The hygiene area is an open bay and has several tv's for the kids to enjoy while they wait and receive treatment. Dr. Young was really nice and explained my kids treatment plans to me. It did not feel rushed and she made sure I understood what was needed. I definitely recommend this place, thank you!!

Dental assistant Micheal and Dr.Young are an awesome team. My brother had a tooth pulled and I was allowed to go with him. Heads up dentist doesn't like when talking during treatment and I was shocked but I'm thankful bc she calmed him down and so did Michael ! As an experienced dental assistant I have to say they are amazing & know what they are doing THANK YOU SO much ! God bless . See you guys soon ! P.S office is very cleaned and organized!!! Love it

This dentist is friendly and compassionate. Dr. Young was patient with my children and was the first face to greet us upon arrival. My kids and I had a bad experience at our previous dental office and I was nervous approaching this new physician. When we left, my daughter said that her dentist was the reason her day was off to a great start! I am looking forward to having my children cared for at this dental office and am impressed at how comfortable and personal it felt visiting. Thank you so much Dr. Young!

I would give 0 stars if I could ! This business is so UNPROFESSIONAL!!! They schedule appointments and don't even be in the office ! Both of my kids use to go there !!! My daughter just had a appointment yesterday she is 3 for a tooth fill they are NOT COOPERATE a small franchise company trying and will take your money!!! I would not recommend going I reported the doctor to the board of dentistry! Yesterday, my daughter had a appointment for a tooth replacement but, DOCTOR YOUNG AND HER ASSISTANT wanted me to pay $250 for he to do so when my daughter CLEARLY HAD INSURANCE !!! I have Medicaid which my daughter could've use to perform the treatment!!! But her and assistant KEPT advising it NOT enrollment period and MY INSURANCE could NOT BE USED !! When clearly my daughter and son where already enrolled in the company for about 6 months already !! ALL they had to do was change my daughter insurance but, she REFUSED AND KEPT SAYING IT CANNOT BE DONE !! This was the 4th or 5th time THAT WE WHERE driving to have THE SAME appointment done! TWICE the office cancelled my DAUGHTERS appointment, and the 4th time they scheduled and appointment and was not at the office me and another family where locked our waiting outside !!! On top of that this last time the doctor was rude and so was the assistant!!! They kept making excuses on why my insurance would not work and I WHY I had to pay $256 when my daughter and son is on the same plan I had to find a whole other Pediatric dentist ! I WOULD NOT SEND MY CHILD HERE ! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO WASTE THEIR TIME BUNCH OF WASTED TIME AND MONEY!!!

I was Panicking cause it was my 2 year old daughters first time at a dentist office, she's always had issues with regular doctors visits but she was Amazing! The staff was great! And the doctor explained and showed my daughter everything before doing it! I couldn't be happier! Thank you Thank you Thank you!

Dr. Young is caring and compassionate. I have two children, one of which is special needs and Dr. Young was nothing short of incredible with both of my littles. The office is warm and inviting and the staff is amazing. My only regret is not finding her sooner.
