Dr. Kera Young is a native of St. Petersburg, Florida. She graduated cum laude from Talladega College in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. She later went on to Meharry Medical College, School of Dentistry where she graduated with honors with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1996.
Dr. Young also served in the United States Navy from 1996-1999 where she received several awards including her Naval Accommodation Medal, AEGD Residency and Officer Leadership certificate. She later continued her training by completing a two year Pediatric Dentistry residency at the university of Florida from 2004-2006. Dr. Young is a member of American Dental Association, West coast Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Florida Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Tampa Bay Pediatric Dental Association, Pedo-Gator Dental Association and Meharry Medical College Alumni Association.
She has been in practice for the past 14 years and locally for the past eight years in Sebring, Tampa, New Port Richy, Lakeland and St.Petersburg before opening her own practice in Gibsonton at Young Smiles Pediatric Dentistry & Spa, where she offers Preventive, Rrestorative, Conscious Sedation, and in office I.V Sedation for children, adolescence and special need patients. Dr. Young is committed to the education and motivation of children regarding the importance of health care. She promotes health awareness in the community by talking to local Pre-school, elementary and college students about the importance of dental treatment. She has given several Sugar-Bug presentations to emphasize preventive care and promote the importance of good oral hygiene and nutrition.
