A pediatric dentist completes a two year residency program after dental school which focuses on the unique aspects of childrens oral health including: child psychology, dental growth and development, sedation, hospital dentistry, interceptive orthodontics, and behavior management.
This training allows him to provide the most up-to-date and thorough treatment for a wide variety of childrens dental problems. He is also trained and qualified to treat patients with special health care needs or children with other mental, physical, or emotional needs.
Mouth breathing, tongue thrusting, snoring, sleep apnea, improper swallowing, and tongue ties have an ever-growing impact on a childs dental health, orthodontics, and overall health and prosperity. He is implementing new and exciting appliances that can help improve these ever-increasing problems.
Dr. Young believes that dentistry should entail a lifetime of continuous learning, teaching, and leadership. He is a part time associate professor at OHSU dental school since 2010 where he enjoys giving back to the next generation of general dentists providing hands on direct patient care instruction. Dr. Young also teaches graduate dentists who have chosen to specialize in the field pediatric dentistry. The university setting provides not only great mentoring opportunities for Dr. Young , but also an excellent source of continuing education for him through classes, research and colleague interaction.When Dr. Young is not working, he enjoys traveling, cooking, jogging, music, and spending time with family, friends, and his beloved pets.

Ashley graduated in 2006, and started as an assistant to Dr. Young at Young Kidz Dental shortly after. Ashley is now the office manager at Young Kidz Dental, and has 2 wonderful children, a son and daughter. Ashley is married to her High School sweetheart, and likes hiking, backpacking, gardening, traveling, art, and enjoying sports with her kids.

My 2 year old son has been here twice and both times we've had an excellent experience. The dental assistant Natasha was so sweet, kind, and patient with my son. He was a bit afraid of getting his teeth cleaned and she took her time and let him warm up to everything. Dr. Young was kind and patient as well. It's very clean and welcoming for children. I definitely recommend this place as a primary dentist for any child.

Thank you to the staff and Dr Young for excellent service today. They went above and beyond to retrieve a rubber band spacer that was lodged in between a tooth and gum line that you could just barely see the band. Especially grateful since it was a last minute appointment because our Orthodontist was out of the office the entire week. A bonus was being able to get her 6 month cleaning done at the same time! So if you're looking for a GREAT dentist, go see Dr. Young at Young Kidz Dental!

Another very positive experience for us today. We had a small procedure and the staff was extremely patient and compassionate, as always. As a parent to a child with special needs, it is imperative to find providers who can alleviate stress and anxiety. I feel fortunate to have found Young Kidz Dental.

My daughter has her first ever dentist appointment. I was terrified that she was going to cry scream but she did amazing! The staff was very welcoming and so friendly. They are great with young kids and made my daughter feel comfortable right away. The office was very kid friendly and my daughter told me that she wanted to go back once we got home haha. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a dentist for their kids!

The Dental Hygienist were great, took my 2.5 year old there today and they did a great job for getting her engaged and feeling comfortable. Even though she was really reluctant to open her mouth she wasnt crying and thats a huge win

My three kids went in for their 6 month dental check today and we were all scolded for refusing X-rays. The kids have had X-rays within a year and do not complain of any pain from their teeth or gums. Apparently the policy is X-rays every 6 months which is excessive and unnecessary as my kids don't show any signs of dental concerns. We have only been at this dental office for a couple years and the hygienists have always been lovely--however, the ladies at the front office could certainly use some training in kindness. If you don't like your job or think barking at people is an appropriate form of communication, please do find alternate employment. A lot of research shows that excessive X-rays cause brain tumors and I refuse to let my kids be used so a dentist can have his new beach house. We're happy to go elsewhere.

Friendly, kind, clean, prompt, calming space. Natasha was really great with my little guy, breaking things down verbally into small steps to make him comfortable. I so appreciated that. Overall a good experience for me and my almost three year old. I would recommend them.

Young Kidz has taken great care of my kids teeth's for over 5 years. We especially love the Team of hygienists - they are all so kind, gentle, thorough and efficient. I highly recommend this practice for pediatric dentistry.

I am always amazed at how incredible the staff at Young Kidz Dental are! They have such enthusiasm with my little ones and everything is a fun adventure, the decor, the flavors, and the surprises at the end. I highly recommend this dentist and I'll be taking my kiddos here as long as I can.

My kids have been going to Young Kidz Dental for 6 plus years now. My youngest daughter has had to have extensive dental work and she has absolutely no dental anxiety. Every time we go it is a good experience. Thank you for all your hard work team!
