Dr. Young graduated from the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry at the top of his class and earned awards for his surgical prowess. He then completed a full hospital-based residency at the Jersey Shore Medical Center, where he also taught residents for many years. This was followed by a two-year post-graduate program in implant surgery at the prestigious Misch Institute of Implantology, an institution which has been attended by only a small percentage of dentists.
Dr. Young has a Fellowship with the Academy of General Dentistry and the Academy of Oral Implantology. He has also completed all necessary training for oral sedation and the administration of IV sedation at St. Joseph's Medical Center. Plus, for his patients safety, he has training in acute cardiac care and is also an ACLS certified doctor.
He has been on the staff of both the Jersey Shore Medical Center and the Southern Ocean Medical Center for the past 20 years, where he is the only general dentist. He has also served for 20 years as a research associate for the Clinical Research Center, developed by world-renowned dentist Dr. Gordon Christensen, where he performs clinical research on various cutting-edge dental treatments and products.
Dr. Young believes he has a responsibility to provide high-quality dental care to the broader community as well as the people right here in Manahawkin. Thats why he has participated in global dental outreach programs throughout his career, including one on the island of Truk a couple of decades ago.
Truk is located in the South Pacific, and dental education and services are greatly needed. The people of Truk (Trukkers) have limited access to dental and medical care and are lacking in education regarding proper dental hygiene. Their customary chewing of sugar cane provides an additional challenge to their oral health. Before visiting, Dr. Young imagined he would be treating 20 to 40 kids a day -- but in all, he and his team treated about 750 to 1,000 people in a week. Once he saw how dire the need was for dental care, he and his team ditched their initial plan of providing comprehensive exams and gathering data and focused instead on providing emergency care to the many people who had been living with dental pain for years. When it was time to go, Dr. Young and his team left over 1,000 toothbrushes as well as instructions for better dental hygiene. They also left dental cements, instruments, and other supplies at the hospital and on neighboring islands.
Lee has been Dr. Youngs main assistant for over twenty years. Lee is highly trained in all aspects of advanced surgical and prosthetic dentistry. Lee is CPR certified .She regularly attends doctor courses with Dr. Young to stay abreast of new procedures. Lee is completely dedicated to her patients comfort and well-being. She will guide you through the clinical portions of your visits, making sure you are at ease and comfortable.
Linda has been with Dr. Young for many years. She works closely with Dr. Young and each patient to develop a personalized soft tissue program to improve and maintain the periodontal/gum conditions of all of our patients. Linda is well known for being extremely gentle and caring. She is now using ORAQIX, the strongest topical aesthetics, during each cleaning or scaling. These aesthetics numb deeper pockets for even more comfort during procedures.
Linda loves people and enjoys helping them along the path of good oral health. She loves working with Dr. Young because she gets to see and participate in the periodontal care of our patients. She also loves assisting in the after-care of advanced dental procedures such as surgical placement of dental implants, socket augmentations / grafting, and large Dental Crowns and Bridges cases. Linda takes many continuing education courses at the University Of Pennsylvania. She lives in the area and has three wonderful daughters.
Linda has been Dr. Youngs registered dental assistant for over twenty seven years. She has also been our front desk office manager and the perfect personal assistant to Dr. Young in all dental office and patient matters. Linda is a warm, kind hearted soul who always treats every patient like family and makes everyone smile just from her presence and enthusiasm.
