When it comes to dental care, Dr. Young tries to give his patients one simple thing: everything. Dr. Young graduated from the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry at the top of his class and earned awards for his surgical prowess. He then completed a full hospital-based residency at the Jersey Shore Medical Center, where he also taught residents for many years. This was followed by a two-year post-graduate program in implant surgery at the prestigious Misch Institute of Implantology, an institution which has been attended by only a small percentage of dentists.
Dr. Young has a Fellowship with the Academy of General Dentistry and the Academy of Oral Implantology. He has also completed all necessary training for oral sedation and the administration of IV sedation at St. Joseph's Medical Center. Plus, for his patients safety, he has training in acute cardiac care and is also an ACLS certified doctor.
He has been on the staff of both the Jersey Shore Medical Center and the Southern Ocean Medical Center for the past 20 years, where he is the only general dentist. He has also served for 20 years as a research associate for the Clinical Research Center, developed by world-renowned dentist Dr. Gordon Christensen, where he performs clinical research on various cutting-edge dental treatments and products.
Dr. Young believes he has a responsibility to provide high-quality dental care to the broader community as well as the people right here in Manahawkin. Thats why he has participated in global dental outreach programs throughout his career, including one on the island of Truk a couple of decades ago.
Truk is located in the South Pacific, and dental education and services are greatly needed. The people of Truk (Trukkers) have limited access to dental and medical care and are lacking in education regarding proper dental hygiene. Their customary chewing of sugar cane provides an additional challenge to their oral health. Before visiting, Dr. Young imagined he would be treating 20 to 40 kids a day -- but in all, he and his team treated about 750 to 1,000 people in a week. Once he saw how dire the need was for dental care, he and his team ditched their initial plan of providing comprehensive exams and gathering data and focused instead on providing emergency care to the many people who had been living with dental pain for years. When it was time to go, Dr. Young and his team left over 1,000 toothbrushes as well as instructions for better dental hygiene. They also left dental cements, instruments, and other supplies at the hospital and on neighboring islands.
Lee has been Dr. Youngs main assistant for over twenty years. Lee is highly trained in all aspects of advanced surgical and prosthetic dentistry. Lee is CPR certified .She regularly attends doctor courses with Dr. Young to stay abreast of new procedures. Lee is completely dedicated to her patients comfort and well-being. She will guide you through the clinical portions of your visits, making sure you are at ease and comfortable.
Linda has been with Dr. Young for many years. She works closely with Dr. Young and each patient to develop a personalized soft tissue program to improve and maintain the periodontal/gum conditions of all of our patients. Linda is well known for being extremely gentle and caring. She is now using ORAQIX, the strongest topical aesthetics, during each cleaning or scaling. These aesthetics numb deeper pockets for even more comfort during procedures.
Linda loves people and enjoys helping them along the path of good oral health. She loves working with Dr. Young because she gets to see and participate in the periodontal care of our patients. She also loves assisting in the after-care of advanced dental procedures such as surgical placement of dental implants, socket augmentations / grafting, and large Dental Crowns and Bridges cases. Linda takes many continuing education courses at the University Of Pennsylvania. She lives in the area and has three wonderful daughters.
Linda has been Dr. Youngs registered dental assistant for over twenty seven years. She has also been our front desk office manager and the perfect personal assistant to Dr. Young in all dental office and patient matters. Linda is a warm, kind hearted soul who always treats every patient like family and makes everyone smile just from her presence and enthusiasm.

Overpriced. I was charged $165 for an 1 xray only. Other places surrounding area like eastern dental, ocean dental are charging $90 package which includes cleaning. I needed a wisdom tooth extraction and he wanted $600 for one tooth extraction and said my other wisdom teeth would also need to be extracted and I dont even feel any pain in the other ones. The staff was very polite and pleasant and the place was very clean but unreasonable prices outrageous prices

Both my husband and I have been patients of Dr. Young for over 40 years. He is the BEST. Always takes the time to make sure you are comfortable and not in any pain. I am writing this for my husband, Ron. We recently relocated from north Jersey to Manahawkin, (which means we had absolutely no health-care contacts), and, after being here for just one month, he had a painful dental emergency. He went to the Internet for help - the 1st dental office called told him the earliest appointment available would be in 2-1/2 weeks; the 2nd office was not accepting new patients; and the 3rd office did not accept our Delta Dental insurance. We then found Dr. R. Young, (who is just two blocks away). When he made contact, the kind receptionist instructed him to come to the office immediately, which we believe was a 'gift.' My husband's experience was phenomenal - i.e., a small, intimate office with a family-like atmosphere; a doctor with over 40 years' experience; and a professional, courteous staff. Lee, the assistant, was super, endeavoring at every juncture to ensure he felt comfortable and pain free with the procedure he underwent. The office was spotless and, in this Covid environment, every precaution was taken that one could expect. He was released with absolutely no pain and with the necessary prescriptions, should pain have reoccurred. On a subsequent visit, he had two root canals performed. We take this opportunity to thank Dr. Young and his competent, caring staff for what is considered a truly pleasant, customer-service experience. Ron highly recommends Dr. Young to anyone seeking dental care. May God bless you, sir, and your staff.

A couple of years ago, when looking to change dentists, Dr. Young was highly recommended to us. We could not be more pleased. When my family and I relocated to Manahawkin 7 years ago from northern NJ, we needed to get a new dentist. After traveling back and forth to North Jersey for a few years, we changed dentists but were not happy with whom we went to. We are so glad we found Dr. Young. He and his excellent staff (Lee, Lucille and Linda) are professional and caring. I have been a patient of Dr Young for well over a year now. My mouth was in bad shape and took a long time going over and deciding on my course of treatment. He is a very caring competent dentist. I have gone through numerous extractions, root canals, bone grafts and he is working on several implants. The procedures were painless. The whole staff made me feel comfortable from the start with Lucille's warm welcoming smile, Jan"s gentle cleanings and Lee"s expert dental assisting. They make you feel like family. Dr Young even came in the office on his scheduled day off to help me out. Thanks Dr Young. You are the best. Thank you for excellent care.

After years of neglect, my teeth were an absolute wreck. You would think that after 72 years I wouldn't be afraid of a dentist, but I was. Then I went to Dr Young. What a great choice I made. It starts with Lucille's friendly smile, Linda's expert cleaning and gum work, Lee's oral exam and expert dental assistant to Dr Young. Dr Young is never judgmental or condescending. I had major extraction work that normally would be done by an oral surgeon that was TOTALLY painless. Have a lot more work to be done. Doctor & staff are the best!! Highly recommend this dental practice.

I was a patient of Dr. Young's for many years and moved out of state. Upon arriving, here, the local dental university professor (who was a dentist) told me, "Sir you could go throughout the entire USA and find and dentist as good but you will never find a dentist better than the one who did your dental work in NJ. You work is either 100% or 110% perfect. The reason I can tell you the latter is because on the partial work, I can see all around them on the x-rays."
