Our History: In 1957, Dr. Keith W. Young opened Young Dental Care to provide dentistry to families in downtown Aurora, Illinois. During this time, he taught at Loyola Dental School and his alma mater, Northwestern University. He later moved the practice to the current location on Prairie Street in the 1960s.

Dr. Young and his wife raised four children and were well known and active in the community. In 1986, he passed down the practice to his daughter but continued to provide care for patients until his passing in 2004.

Today, Dr. Bindi Patel and Dr. Alex Daniel continue the legacy of the high-quality patient care Young Dental Care has provided to generations of families in Aurora, Illinois, and the surrounding areas.

At Young Dental Care, we want to change the way you feel about going to the dentist. I grew up with dentistry. My father is a dentist, as well as my uncle and many of my cousins. I come from a long lineage of people who are passionate about teeth and understand the importance they play in our overall health.

From a young age, I have been involved in all aspects of dentistry. As a high school student, I worked at my fathers dental practice as an assistant cleaning the instruments and wiping the chairs in the operatory rooms. In college, I shadowed my father in the office and realized that the dental profession combined my love of art and science. I realized that I could utilize my creative and compassionate strengths, as well as my studies in biology, to excel in this field.

After completing dental school at the University of Illinois Chicago and graduating with honors, I used the knowledge I learned from my father and completed over 200 hours of continuing education in my first year of practice alone. I became trained in treating cosmetic dentistry, neuromuscular dentistry, temporomandibular joint disorders, obstructive sleep apnea, and proper airway and breathing development, as well as facial growth and development in children. I learned so much more beyond the general dental treatments I had learned in school and realized how proper structure and function of the teeth, airway and jaw joints align with not only whole-body health but also beauty.

After getting married to my college sweetheart, Ameet, and settling down, I chose to practice at the best establishment in the area. In my free time, I am busy chasing my toddler, Ryaan, around; playing with my dog, Bella; and getting ready to welcome my newest little bundle into the world. I would be honored to have you as part of my dental family.

Dr. Alex Daniel is proud to provide quality dentistry in Aurora, Illinois. He is a graduate of the Christian Dental College in Ludhiana, India, where he received his bachelors degree of dental surgery in 2012. He then earned his Master of Public Health in 2017 with certificates in epidemiology and health education and promotion at Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois, and he graduated with his Doctor of Dental of Medicine in 2019 at Southern Illinois University in Alton, Illinois. He likes to stay up to date in his field by reading current dental journals and continuing his education throughout the year.

Dr. Daniels goal as a dentist is to help people be happy with their smiles by taking away their pain/problems and educating them on how to prevent gum disease. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society and Aurora Dental Society, and he has been a part of the International Advanced Placement Program at Southern Illinois University.

It is my pleasure to welcome Dr. Brittany Shubert to our practice to help cover my maternity leave. Dr. Shubert is a kind, compassionate, and wonderful lady with many years of dental experience. She is gentle and has an excellent bedside manner. It is her top priority to make certain all of our patients will be cared for, and all of their needs met while I am gone for the summer. I look forward to seeing you all again when I return in August!

Dr. Brittany A. Shubert received her Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana and her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois. She graduated Midwestern University summa cum laude and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Beta Epsilon Chapter for outstanding academics.

Dr. Brittany said, I always knew I wanted to be in health care, but what I love most about dental medicine is the opportunity to develop long-term relationships with my patients and watch their families grow. Besides my pharmacist brother, I am the first health care professional in my family. I entered private practice after graduation and have been proudly providing quality care for the community for the last seven years.

After many years of caring for the Aurora, community, Dr. Amy Newkirk has retired. Dr. Bindi Patel is the new owner of Young Dental Care. Our doctors and staff look forward to continuing to provide quality, gentle care for you to enjoy a positive dental experience. Thank you, Dr. Amy Newkirk, for your many years of service.

I hope this letter finds you and your family happy and healthy. We have been living through challenging times these past two years as individuals, families and a community. I feel optimistic that, with spring approaching, there appears to be a glimmer of light at the end of this long tunnel!

I have had the chance to share with some of you the personal health challenges that I have also been facing these past two years. In January of 2020, I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer, and I spent the next 12 months completing chemotherapy, surgery and radiation. Unfortunately, my life in remission was short-lived, and in January of 2021, we found that the cancer had spread to my lung and chest lymph nodes. A huge blow after a long year of treatment.

By now, most of you have had the chance to meet Dr. Bindi Patel. Dr. Bindi joined our practice just as I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. She has been a wonderful addition to our team. As I was out for emergency surgery, Dr. Bindi stepped into her leadership role at the office and cared for our patient family as I continued to fight my battle.

It is with a heavy heart that I am writing to you today to announce my retirement from full-time dentistry. With weekly chemotherapy treatments and mounting side effects from surgeries, I have decided to refocus and spend more time with my husband, Randy, and our two children, Reilly and Garrett. Having a terminal cancer diagnosis is daunting, and it is time to shift my focus to making memories with my family and taking strides to maintain my quality of life.

However, it is my absolute pleasure to announce that Dr. Bindi Patel is stepping up as the new owner of Young Dental Care. I am overjoyed that she has pledged a long-term commitment to our patient family and our community. She has demonstrated the highest level of clinical excellence and is dedicated to keeping Young Dental Care at the forefront of modern dentistry. Dr. Patel is a caring, talented and compassionate professional who shares my commitment to providing excellent comprehensive family dentistry. My family and I are so very happy to call her our family dentist.

I appreciate all the phone calls, cards and prayers that I have received during my ongoing battle with breast cancer. Please know that I am available if you have any questions or if you just want to chat. I look forward to maintaining a small clinical role at the practice going forward.

Dr. Bindi Patel and Dr. Alex Daniel will continue to provide the high-quality family dental care that you have come to expect over these past 65-plus years since Dr. Keith Young founded Young Dental Care. In some cases, our office has treated three generations of your family! You have all become a part of our family in so many ways, and we will continue our commitment to you and yours.

Nina has been a part of the team here at Young Dental Care since October 1997 and contributes to the success of our practice by treating patients as family and communicating with them in a friendly manner. She truly loves our patients and finds it a gift to get to know many patients and their families for many years. We often see third and fourth generations of patients who come to us for their dental care, and Nina enjoys showing photos to the younger generation of their parents taken at their first dental visit to our office.

Nina is married to her husband, Rick, of over 20 years, and together, they have two children, Jessica and Jacob. When she is not office, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading books and staying fit.

Gloria became a member of our dental team in January 2021. She always greets patients with a smile. She enjoys meeting new patients and gets excited whenever she finds out she knows some patients outside the office. She is a proud mother of twin boys and loves reading, doing Zumba and drumming in her free time.

Michelle joined us in 2004 and is a hardworking dental hygienist whose goal is to make our patients feel comfortable and at ease when visiting Young Dental Care. She started her career in the dental field in 1998, working as an assistant and dental hygiene coordinator, and went off to complete her associate degree in dental hygiene at Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois, in 2002.

Michelle loves spending time with her family. Many weekends she can be found at the softball field watching her daughter, Taylor, play and husband, Tracy, coach. Michelle also has a love for dogs, musicals and traveling to DisneyWorld.

Tamela joined us in July 2019 and contributes to the success of the practice by educating patients on the importance of brushing and flossing when taking care of them. She is a 1990 graduate of Southern Illinois University, where she received her Associate of Applied Science in dental hygiene. In 2004, she became certified in the administration of nitrous oxide and local anesthetics. She then went off to graduate with her Bachelor of Science in health care, with a minor in theology, in 2007 and works to exceed state requirements for licensing with her continuing education.

Vicki graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1989 with an associate degree in dental hygiene. She joined our team in 2016 and enjoys working with a team that works well together to take care of our patients. When she is not seeing patients, Vicki is always happy to help out where needed and says the best part of her profession is the ability to educate and empower people to improve their dental health.

Caitlin became a member of our team in December 2020 and loves caring for patients and helping those in pain. She is certified in coronal polishing and CPR, as well as being a paraprofessional. When she is not in the office, you can find her spending time with her son, Logan.

Gracie joined our dental team in September 2021. She is a 2013 graduate of Oswego Free Academy and is certified in prophylaxis and sealants. Gracie has been a dental assistant since 2015 and loves seeing the smiles of patients after working on them. She contributes to the success here at Young Dental Care with her happy, positive attitude.

Jan joined Young Dental Care 20 years ago and contributes to the success of the practice with her gift of making genuine connections with our patients. She likes the fact that we are a smaller practice that has been in the neighborhood for many years.

She is married to one lucky husband, and together, they have two great kids, two handsome grandsons, a toothless grandcat, and a baby kitty (which she is always happy to show pictures of if you ask)! She is also an estate sale junkie and says to look out for her on an episode of Hoarders.
