Dental implants refer to the act of replacing a tooths roots. They provide a strong foundation for the teeth when patients decide to go for a fixed replacement. They also offer removable implants which look identical to natural teeth. Tooth loss is becoming one of the most common phenomena which mostly occur due to tooth decay.

The best thing about dental implants is that the teeth look like your own teeth, and it is often hard to tell whether they are artificial or not. Dental implants are designed to fuse in with your bone which also makes them permanent and natural.

One of the most annoying things about traditional dentures is that they can easily slip inside your mouth, making you mumble and slur your words. But dental implants, on the other hand, allow you to speak naturally without worrying that they might slip up. Moreover, they also become a part of you, allowing you to speak more comfortably.

As identified in our previous point, dentures can easily slip while communicating. It is also true whenever someone tries to eat food. The dentures can easily slip and make chewing extremely difficult. However, dental implants act like your own teeth and make chewing and eating very easy. It allows you to eat your favorite food without any discomfort or fear.

Another advantage of dental implants includes better oral health. Whenever a dental implant is performed on a tooth, the nearby teeth are not impacted. Ultimately, more of your natural teeth are left intact, resulting in long-term better oral health.

Dental implants have a tremendous success rate at 98% with proper care. Nowadays, dentists are qualified and equipped with better tools. They can provide better care and procedure, which leads to a higher success rate.

Most people who get dental implants face very little discomfort in the overall procedure. The dentist uses anesthesia during the procedure, numbing the pain. Most of the patients also say that implants involve less pain than a tooth extraction. The dentists often prescribe some medicine to the patient to deal with the pain.

Dentistry is a branch of medical science that focuses primarily on the study of oral cavity. For those who dont know, oral cavity in medical anatomy is the mouth. Dentistry involves the study and diagnosis of the oral cavity. It includes everything from the maintenance of oral health to the prevention of oral diseases. It is a profession, which commonly examines teeth-related conditions. However, the field of dentistry not only covers the teeth but also other facial complexities supporting them. These include the temporomandibular joints and muscular structures that form the face, along with nervous and vascular tissues.

A dentist normally practices in his or her private clinic, but hospitals also hire them to treat patients with oral problems. Secondary care institutions like schools, armed forces or prisons also consist of practicing dentists. Dentistry further divides into many specialties, like orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics and public health dentistry.

The history of dentistry predates modern civilization. Skeletal remains show small incisions in the jaws of archaic skulls. Experts believe these holes are signs of dental treatment of the past for draining abscesses. Furthermore, archeologists found Egyptian scrolls that depict dental treatments and surgery. These evidences suggest that oral surgery in ancient Egypt dates back to 1500 BCE.

Other evidences found from the remains of Phoenicia, which is now modern Lebanon, show the first signs of tooth replacement. Some ancient skulls discovered over there have animal teeth attached with a cord replacing their original teeth.

Indus valley, being one of the oldest civilizations in the world has also been precedent in signifying the historic value of dentistry. Skeletal remains from ancient sites of the Indus valley civilization show signs of teeth drilling done by flint tools.

South Asian regions like China, Japan and India used restorative dentistry methods instead of surgical procedures. Oral medicine was a distinctive part of their culture, and the use of various herbs was the primary restorative method for treating dental issues.

Surgery was also not the choice for Islamic countries, since the sacred scripture was against mutilating the body. So, these regions mostly resorted to preventative measures and strictly emphasized maintaining oral hygiene with the help of herbs. They also cleaned their maintained their oral hygiene by scaling and cleaning teeth regularly.

During the 18th and 19th century, the profession of dentistry did not exist. t In most cases, barbers or general physicians used to perform dental surgeries #. Dentistry is the first ever specialization of medical science. By the 1700s in France, surgeons started limiting their practice to dentistry. Fast forward to 1728, Pierre Fauchard, who was a surgeon in France, compiled all the knowledge of dentistry in a revolutionary book named, treatise on the teeth this book contained everything from dental conditions, diagnosis and treatments. It also included all the relative aspects of dentistry and oral surgery. Thus, dentistry emerged as a profession of its own. People regard Fauchard as the father of modern dentistry.

Since then, following up to the 20th century, many advances redefined the dentistry. The technocratic age poured in technological gifts to make the practice even more specified and efficient. Modern dentists use highly advanced tools to perform treatments now. Whats more, there has been a drastic improvement in peoples oral health due to extensive researches on dental conditions. Here are some of the advances responsible for taking this field to new heights:

Dental X-rays have been pivotal in the diagnosis of dental conditions. Dentists can now make better evaluations of your dental conditions by taking an X-ray of your teeth. Furthermore, X-rays help dentists better identify cavities, tooth decays and minor damages.

The discovery of how effective fluorides can be to prevent the decay of teeth improved dental health by a large margin. Since this discovery, the US government added fluoride in the public water supply of communities around the USA. This resulted in the decrease of dental carries in children by 50%. Dentists also use fluorides to treat tooth decay, which is also a key component in the toothpastes you use today.

Implants and bridges are ideal for restoring teeth. Dentists can now completely recover your teeth by the use of implants, bridges and fillings. These are two main filling types used by most dentists: metal fillings and colored fillings. Each type has its pros and cons.

Dentistry is a field of medical science with incredible historic significance. This profession accounts for miraculous implications and extends far more than the treatment of the teeth. Its procedures can help some people eat, breathe, and talk better, a fact that marks its importance in medical science.

Endodontics is a field in medical science that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of pulp tissues found inside teeth. You can classify it as a subspecialty of dentistry. Contrary to popular belief, endodontists are dentists but not all dentists are Endodontists.

An endodontist has to go through dental school, but after graduating, he or she must complete two extra years in order to specialize in this field. The term Endodontic comes from the Greek translation that means inside teeth.

It is one of the many branches of dentistry that focuses primarily on the issues regarding the dental pulp. The dental pulp makes up your teeths roots and consists of a junction of nerve cells and arterioles along with other tissues. This extremely small structure also follows a complex root canal system. Whats more, endodontists are experts in treating any sort of damage on the inner core that makes up our tooth.

An Endodontic solution is largely a root canal treatment, which mostly involves the use of cutting-edge technology. Endodontists have extensive knowledge and experience on endodontic complications and possess the skill to operate high-tech tools.

Your dentist is likely to schedule you to an endodontist if you need a root canal. Some dentists are able to perform a root canal treatment as well, but opting for an endodontist is always the safer choice. Endodontists, on average, perform a lot more root canals than the average dentist, which is why they have more experience.

As mentioned earlier, endodontists focus their practice on root canal procedures. For those who dont know, root canal is a step by step procedure that deals with the damage done to the dental pulp. You can damage your teeth either by an infection or an injury. Traumatic damages to the pulp tissues are rare and in most cases, the infection occurs on peoples teeth.

A root canal becomes inevitable when the bacterial infection spreads from the outer part of the tooth, the enamel, to the inner pulp or core of the tooth. Initially an endodontist will numb the patients gums and teeth to avoid any pain. They will then create an entry to the dental pulp by drilling across the enamel. When exposed, the endodontist examines the dental pulps contamination.

This diagnosis requires high-tech machinery in the form of microscopes and radiographs. These advanced technologies help endodontists make accurate evaluations. Radiographs provide a three-dimensional picture of the contaminated tooth and microscopes magnify tiny nerve endings and arterioles.

Endodontic experts also use rotary nickel titanium files to scrape the infected tissue and shape to the canal tubules. After this, they utilize chemical irrigation for further debridement. The Endodontist then fills the canals with natural latex and seals it to prevent further microbial invasions. Finally, the last step of the procedure is the placement of a crown on top of the dental pulp. These steps require an immense amount of skill, precision and focus.

An endodontic retreatment surgery replaces previous fillings with new ones in case of re-infection. This surgery involves the removal of the protective crown and filling inside the root. Surgeries like these mostly happen when the tooth does not heal properly. In this condition, the endodontist has to retreat the tooth by cleaning, refilling and sealing again.

Since endodontists have substantial knowledge on the biology and treatment of pulp tissues, they can look at traumatic injuries to the teeth. Certain pressures and cracks can have adverse affect on the inner tooth, causing it to become dysfunctional, causing you to go through an endodontic solution.

The field of endodontics enables doctors to perform treatments that could save your smile. Without this extensive field, oral conditions people would be face terrible pain due to various teeth-related issues. In some cases, endodontic treatments have been able to help people with seemingly irreversible damage. This field thrives in the light of technological advancements, and since endodontic procedures are so tech-oriented, the success and efficiency of root canals looks more promising than ever.

Some people claim that tooth pain caused by nerve tissues can be as painful as giving birth and it can feel twice as worse if you dont choose the right professional to treat it. If you or your loved ones experience some sort of tooth pain, get them checked from a reliable endodontist instead of delaying it.
