Dr. Zhu has been practicing general and cosmetic dentistry in San Francisco and Daly City since 2007. He strongly believes that every individual has his or her own specific dental needs and expectations and continuously works very hard with top experts in different dental specialties to provide the best care possible for his patients.
Dr. Zhu received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry and a masters in oral biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association and the San Francisco Dental Society.
Originally from Shanghai, Dr. Zhu grew to love the bay area after attending dental school in the city and put down his roots here. During his spare time, Dr. Zhu enjoys traveling, reading and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Semi Lim finished her undergraduate degree at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) before pursuing her dental degree and specialty training in Periodontics and Implantology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. She is an assistant professor at University of California San Francisco School of Dentistry. Dr. Lim has received a number of awards for education excellence. These include distinctions in the American Academy of Periodontology Annual Meeting Presentation, distinctions in the Tri-school Periodontics Conference Oral Presentation, and distinctions in the Northeast Implant Symposium Presentation. She has advanced clinical experiences in: Comprehensive Periodontal Therapy, Guided Tissue Regeneration, Periodontal Plastic & Esthetic Surgery, Implant Placement, Sinus Membrane Elevation, and ridge augmentation procedures for optimizing the longevity of implants.
Dr. Lim is a board certified periodontist and a scholar of International Congress of Oral Implantologists. She is a member of all relevant dental societies including the American Academy of Periodontology, Academy of Osseointegration, and California Society of Periodontists. Dr. Lim provides the highest quality periodontics in a friendly environment for all ages and she enjoys providing the best care for her patients. She loves to work closely with patients. I had some gum issues/tenderness so I booked my appointment with Yerba Buena on 3rd Aug becuase this was the nearest dentistry that is open after 5pm, I had a lot of pain in my gum on 3rd but I got an appointment for Aug 5 means today. Let me share the worst experience I ever had at the dentist. I went to this facility today and just to mention that I was in a very better state before I visited this place. I started my conversation stating that I have sensitive gums and I have tenderness on my right side. Dr.Zhu was highly unprofessional and disorganized. He started to look into my mouth and did not even setup the suction. I had to ask myself for a suction and he asked his assistant to bring the suction to use and in my complete session the dr used the suction for only once and I had to swallow whatever was coming into my mouth in the whole session. He kept on asking where is the pain what is hurting while pushing and pressing my gums with a lot of force of his fingers, he forced it a lot that my cheek and lips were stretched and I had to scream that its my cheek. He was not realizing that its my mouth and I have sensitive gums. He was not focusing on the reason for which I visited. He kept on ignoring that I have senaitive gums and I came to show him my gums and not the tooth or the cavity. He was even touching my left side where I had no complains so I clearly told him not to touch my left side and, that side is fine. He said lets do the cold test and again touched on left side and after that he said lets do the electric test and again touched my healthy tooth (left side) and also the right side which is very sensitive and that electric test was so painful. After that Dr.Zhu said I need a deep cleaning and I should meet the orthodontist but I refused for the deep cleaning. He suggested that I should take Ibuprofen and consult the orthodonist. Like seriously? After all this non sense you did, you are saying I should take Ibuprofen! I am writing all this because now all my tooth are hurting badly and I am in a lot of pain. I went to see a dentist because I had a tender gum and not tooth ache but It was a mistake to go to this clinic. I would never ever recommend this clinic to anyone. Please beware before going to thia facility.

Just started coming here and my first appointment was a nice experience. All of the staff I encountered were very friendly and professional. They're willing to work around my schedule and I'm encouraging my family to switch over to Dr. Zhu

I went to Yerba after going 5 years without a dentist. Dr. Zhu & all staff I've interacted with are excellent. Been going here for a year or so.. very clear, shows you what they recommend you get fixed, but don't hard sell like some dentists. Good pain mgmt & systems so your jaw doesn't get super sore. Always have a pleasant time.

Always super friendly and accommodating front office staff. Dr Zhu always makes sure you're comfortable throughout the exam, and I've even had them help me out with flexible payments / always letting me know what payment to expect in advance as I was self-pay in between jobs. Best consistent dentist office experience! I go out of my way to commute 40+ minutes to these appointments as it's well worth it.

Dr. Zhu is a great dentist! I would give him 6 stars if I could. I moved to Marin and drove back to SF for my appointment - he's worth it. Very careful, professional and a really nice guy. The staff is terrific as well and the equipment is all new and state-of-the-art. I highly recommend the team!
