Dr. Yao is originally from Melbourne, Australia, and grew up in San Diego. He has lived in the South Bay area of Santa Clara County for the past ten years with his wife, Dana. They have a son, Elias, and a 3 month old baby girl, Tessa Marie. When hes not spending time with his family, Dr. Yao can be found surfing, golfing, playing tennis and basketball, and playing blues guitar. As an active participant in his community, he has taken dental missions abroad and worked in free dental clinics that provide service for populations in need.

I began my dental career in 1977. I enjoy interacting with our patients and forming trusting relationships with every new patient I meet. I feel very fortunate to be able to work for one of the most experienced and well known orthodontists in Silicon Valley. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, going to the beach, yoga, and listening to music.
I have worked in the dental field for over 25 years and have enjoyed helping our patients complete their orthodontic care successfully. Working with each individual patient, seeing the progress of their treatment, and watching them develop confidence as their smiles improves is the best part of my job. I also love working with my coworkers; they are like a second family to me.Im a mother of two sons in college and a daughter in junior high. Ive been married for 25 years and enjoy watching my sons play college baseball and my daughters dance recitals. I also hang out at the beach and hike.
I assist Dr. Yao with bonding brackets, placing and removing archwires, taking impressions, sterilizing instruments, and ordering of supplies for the Saratoga office. It is a pleasure coming to work when you know the person you work for is really concerned about a persons well-being. For me family comes first. I love spending time in Las Vegas with two of my nieces and one of my great nephews who just turned two. I also like to spend my vacation in Hawaii every year, visiting friends there and just relaxing.
I am responsible for managing our patients accounts, billing insurance, and helping patients manage their flex plans. I love to see the positive changes in patients confidence from the beginning to the end of their treatment. I also enjoy working with our staff; we really have a lot of fun in our office. In my spare time, I love to be with my family and friends. I also enjoy traveling when I get the chance.
I have the wonderful job of preparing records for patients and helping the other assistants in the clinic. I started working here in October 2012 and was very happy to join this great office and wonderful team. I love interacting with patients and seeing how they change as a result of orthodontics. I live in Cupertino, and enjoy spending time with my husband and daughter. I love watching movies, shopping and dancing!

Just finished up braces with our second child under Dr. Yao's care and can't say enough about how great he and his entire staff have been during the experience(s). Always very patient, careful to explain, and really great with kids and teens. Highly recommend and can't thank them enough for beautiful smiles on both of my boys! Thanks Dr. Yao and staff!

I am extremely happy about the results of my treatment here. My teeth are in a much better shape than they were 1 year ago. Doctor Yao is very professional and the staff here are also always so friendly. I highly recommend Yao orthodontics! And thank you for your amazing work!!!

I absolutely recommend Dr Yao orthodontics to all parents, specially to the ones with kids who are little scared of the process. Dr. Yao is extremely patient with all kids and specifically with ones with butterflies in their stomach during each visit. His office is a happy place, relaxing and joyful. Everyone has a big smile visible even under masks. They are all very professional, and kind. We started with another Orthodontics in 2019 and after 2 years we gladly switched to Dr. Yao's office and right away could see the difference. My daughter is not scared anymore and she got her confidence back.

I am a male adult who like many had braces back in the day and since, lost track of the upkeep practice. A bottom tooth was severely out of alignment and top teeth narrowing with overbite. I hesitated to smile, it was probably distracting to others and more importantly, it was not consistent with my overall practice of self-care. From the first visit, Dr Yao was dialed into my needs and committed to my vision of a successful outcome. He patiently stayed with me, ran the process until my vision of perfection was reached. The net result, an amazing bright white smile that again reflects how I feel on the inside. I highly recommend Dr Yao and his professional, welcoming, friendly staff. Adults, you're worth it, call Dr Yao and get that smile you deserve.

Dr. Yao is an amazing orthodontist with an excellent bedside manner. Let's face it, getting braces suck but Dr. Yao really made it a great experience for my child. Quoting my child "Dr. Yao is really funny and motivating". We had a few issues going on and Dr. Yao laid out a 2 year journey, clearly explained every phase, what to expect. He communicates clearly and patiently answers (the tons) of questions parents have. The end result? A brilliant smile and awesome school pictures!

Stay away from this place. Highly unethical and deceptive! They don't give you the estimated price of the treatment as all other orthodontists I've been to before making and charging you for the scans first ($513). I was told my case is not complicated and even if I don't like the treatment plan or price afterwards, I can always get the scans and proceed with the treatment elsewhere. I reluctantly signed up for that, taking into account the fact that my case is not complicated and that my general dentist was the one who referred me to that place and spoke highly of them. My next visit I was told that my treatment will cost me $7825, which is highly overpriced and that price doesn't reflect neither "non-complexity of my case", nor the average price in the area. (The estimated price in 4 other locations was $6100-$6800, including scans). I've decided to move forward with another orthodontist. After calling the front desk and requesting the copy of my scans I had already paid for, the scans were never sent to me. Additionally, upon further consultations with other vendors over the phone, I was told they won't be able to accept other specialist's scans or adjust the price for the treatment, since they prefer to do their own scans and the price is already included in the treatment plan. Lost money and time!

My son has been seeing Dr. Yao for about a year for wire bracket orthodontics. I am extremely happy with his service and attentiveness to my son's oral condition. I highly recommend Dr. Yao and his staff without reservation.

We couldn't be more pleased to have worked with Dr. Yao! Our daughter had a fantastic results from her orthodontic treatment, superb personalized attention from Dr. Yao and his expert assistants, and they are very collaborative and working with us throughout the inevitable hiccups and problems that occurred. We cannot recommend Dr. Yao highly enough!
