Dr. Yancho is a respected dentist, who provides preventative, cosmetic, periodontal, and restorative dental services in a state-of-the-art facility with an outstanding dedication to quality, personalized care. With more than 30 years of family and cosmetic dentistry experience, board-certified dentist Dr. Phillip C. Yancho has refined his dental skills to provide the children and adults of Traverse City, MIwith excellent oral health care. Dr. Yancho graduated from the University of Michigan, School of Dentistry with honors. Dr. Yancho obtained a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Michigan Technological University and also studied at Harvard University Summer School. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, and the Resort District Dental Society. Since 2009, Dr. Yancho has been recognizedas a 'Top Dentist,' and he is regularly recognized by his peers for providing exceptional care. He was recently inducted into the International College of Dentists (ICD), the oldest and largest honor society for dentists.
Dr. Yancho is board certified through the American Dental Association (ADA) and he is also a proud to be a member of the prestigious International College of Dentists, which is the oldest and largest honor society for dentists (only 3% of dentists are invited to join). His fully digital (chartless), modern dental practice employs a dedicated staff that are trainedin many of the latest dental technologies, such as CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) same-day restorations. Dr. Yancho uses his special dental skills for cosmetic dentistry (porcelain veneers, teeth whitening, tooth-colored fillings, inlays and onlays), general and family dentistry (preventative care, tooth extractions), and restorative dentistry (same-day crowns, dental implants, bridges, and root canal therapy). Dr. Yancho also offers safe sedation dentistry with nitrous oxide for routine dental procedures and more complex treatments.
Dr. Yancho earned his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences, with honors, from Michigan Technological University in Houghton, MI. He went on to the Harvard Health Professions Program in Cambridge, MA and to earn his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS), with honors at University of Michigan School of Dentistry in Ann Arbor, MI.
Dr. Yancho earned the D.H. Baker Dental Lab Award for providing quality restorative dentistry and outstanding care to patients in2009. Dr. Yancho was also awarded theMaxillofacial Surgeons Award in1985. He frequently appears on 'Top Doctor' and 'Top Dentist' lists in the Northern Michigan area.
To provide the best procedures and services to his patients, Dr. Yancho spends a lot of time furthering his knowledge in dentistry. By completing3 times the minimum number of continuing education required hours for licensure, Dr. Yanchokeeps up-to-date on all of themodern dental techniques, treatments,and technology. He also completed the Dawson Academy training in St. Petersburg, FL, and Traverse City, MI taking enriching himself with lectures and hands-on courses.
To further the future of dentistry, Dr. Yancho serves as an instructor for The University of Michigan School of Dentistry. He is a credentialed preceptor for The University of Michigan School of Dentistry. He is also a remote clinical instructor for the School of Dentistry students on rotation in Traverse City, MI providing care for Veteran patients in the Victors for Veterans (V4V) program currently being help at NMHSI in Traverse City.
As an active contributor to several local no-cost dental care clinics in the Traverse City area, Dr. Yancho has provided dental care to the under privileged in his community since 2000. He is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry (Preceptor), and a Victors for Veterans' Supervisor for dental students working with area veterans to bring them low cost and/or free dental services.
As a native Michigander, Dr. Yancho was born in Flint and decided to raise his family in Traverse City. He has been married to his loving wife, Sally, of 29 years, and together they have raised 4 children. Dr. Yancho feels tremendously blessed to have his wife work for the office from their home, with the ability to stay home to raise their children (who he believes turned out to be very fine adults). His dental office is like his second home, and he feels as though his patients and staff members are like family. As his experienced and dedicated team are hand-picked to work with him, Dr. Yanchois fortunate to have so many long-term employees (some of his team members have worked in his practice for more than 20 years). Dr. Yanchofeels very passionate about his career as a dentist, and still loves going into the office everyday even after 35 years. This passion has extended into two of his children's lives as well. Son, Joe, is a dentist in the US Navy. He is stationed in Japan aboard the U.S.S. New Orleans. Youngest daughter, Hannah, is a third year dental student at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry as well. They have seen how much he loves his work and have decided to pursue a career in dentistry as well.

My wife and I are extremely pleased with our experiences with Dr. Yancho and his staff. We joined their dentistry a couple of years ago based on a private referral. I had an abscessed tooth removed and needed an implant. Dr. Yancho preformed the implant with literally no pain or even discomfort! Bonus - His cost was over $800 less than the estimate from our previous dentist. Also, a had a history of boarder line periodontal disease which made for very painful/bloody cleanings every 6 months. Dr. Yancho recommended a comprehensive treatment plan which I agreed to. I have had 2 cleanings since the treatment completion with no pain or bleeding! My gums are noticeably healthier. (Footnote - I had never even been approached about addressing this with previous dentists other than I needed to brush and floss better). Also, I can't say enough good things about Angie, the dental hygienist that helped me through everything. She has been extremely helpful, making sure I understood all of the details, explaining my responsibilities, all to ensure a positive outcome. It is such a pleasure to have finally found a dentistry that truly cares about our total welfare!

Our family have been patients of Dr. Yancho for about 30 years. We started going to him because we wanted to find a dentist who was painless. Even when getting a shot in the mouth, Dr. Yancho is painless. He and his staff are caring and understanding. We highly recommend this dental practice!

I have a Maryland bridge, something I have been stuck with since I was a teenager because I was born without my lateral incisors. I had a great dentist in PA, but over the years in Petoskey, MI - I failed to find one that I felt comfortable with and/or had confidence in while working on my bridge. I did some research and stumbled upon Dr. Yancho and his crew. My first appointment last spring was amazing. Everyone was so kind. I could NOT be more happy, so much so, that I ended up sticking with Dr. Yancho and his team for my cleanings. Even though I do not have a lot of money as I struggle to get through my final years in school, they treat me like I am equally as important. Allie took the time to figure out payment options for some cavity work, and never made me feel bad for it. I felt my bridge faltering last week, so I e-mailed the office that night and received an immediate response from Dr. Yancho and a call from Denise first thing the next morning. She got me in less than a week later. Then, as I was brushing my teeth last night, the whole thing fell out. I called Denise and without any question, got me in today. I had some bad experiences with my bridge work - today...my anxiety was completely quashed. Dr. Yancho did a fantastic job! He explains everything he is doing, why he is doing it and even stopped to make sure what he was doing was the best option for me. Plus, he makes sure at every step I was not uncomfortable. From Denise, to Allie, Rachel, Erin, and Melanie - I cannot be more thankful for making me feel so comfortable. The 90 minute drive to see all of you is absolutely worth it. It is rare to find so many fantastic team players in one place.

I recommend this practice to everyone that I know. I have never met a dentist that is as concerned about our comfort during procedures as Dr. Yancho is. Going to the dentist can be a scary thing for many of us... but it's not an issue here.

I have always had anxiety when going to the dentist because of bad experiences in the past. Dr Yancho is so kind and gentle and he explains everything he is doing and makes you feel comfortable and safe. He is highly skilled and is dedicated to making your experience stress free. Traverse City is so lucky! Dr. Yancho provides absolutely world-class dentistry and has put together a wonderful team who make every aspect of the office experience totally comfortable and welcoming. As a new arrival in TC, I feel so fortunate to have become his patient and I'll be advising my sons, (both of whom live out-of-state!), to travel to MI and Dr. Yancho for their dental care!
