United Medical Centers is a PCHM recognized and TJC Accredited Community Health Center whose mission is to assure the availability and accessibility of basic primary and preventive health care services to all residents of the service area. At United Medical Centers, no one is turned away for the inability to pay. Patients benefiting from UMCs services may pay on a sliding fee scale based on federal poverty level guidelines that are updated every year. The Clinic also accepts Medicaid, CHIP, Medicare and private insurance.
UMC is a federally qualified health center (FQHCs).FQHCs must serve an underserved area or population, offer a sliding fee scale, providing comprehensive primary care services, have an ongoing quality assurance program, and have a governing board of directors. Our service area encompasses Kinney, Maverick, and Val Verde counties, and is located in Southwest Texas on the U.S. Mexico border. There are over 1,100 federally funded community and migrant health centers in the United States providing a health care home for over 18 million Americans. Community health centers have been in existence for more than forty years, reducing hospitalization by over 200% and reducing the pressure on hospital emergency rooms in countless ways.
United Medical Centers maintains nine service sites and offers Pediatric, OB/GYN, ENT, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Podiatry and Dental Services. In addition, our Centers offer in-house services such as Laboratory, Pharmacy, Radiology, Social Services, Family Planning, and WIC.
