Dr. Jan is originally from Hilo, Hawaii. She attended dental school at the University of the Pacific in San Francisco, California and graduated with honors and induction into the Tao Kappa Omega, and Omega Kappa Upsilon dental honors societies. Then she was accepted to do her residency at the University of Colorado in Denver. Upon completing her residency she went back to Hilo to open her first practice. She then became homesick for the mountains and purchased Yamashiro Orthodontics in Boulder to continue her career in private practice. She is part of an elite group of SPEAR trained dentists and specialist in Boulder who believe in comprehensive dental care and long term excellence. She is excited to be able to come to work everyday in such a great community and to continue making great smiles. In her spare time she likes to rock climb and do different arts and crafts, like making costumes or finding creative and artsy ways to organize.
Kendall has worked in the dental/orthodontic field since 2003, and is the sports guru of the office. In her free time she likes to hike and be outdoors, go to sporting events and spend time with her husband and cat 'Latte'.
Born and raised in Boulder, Madison is a Colorado native and loves to hike and swim. She has received extensive training in customer service and has been cross-trained in dental imaging as well. When you come in you can expect to be greeted with her kind and welcoming smile. She knows everything there is to know about our referral and rewards programs and loves doing what she is doing because she gets to help people every day.
Originally from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Emily has been a proud resident of Colorado for the last six years. She has been a technician for 7 years and during this time has furthered her dental knowledge by completing college courses regarding Anatomy and Physiology. Emily loves spending time with her husband and her dog, Frank. If you don't find her out hiking the plentiful areas of Colorado, you can find her at concerts across Colorado's venues.
Brieanna is a graduate of CU Boulder, and is a colorado native. She grew up in Loveland but spent most of her time in and around Boulder. She loves to connect people with the resources they need to get their best smile, and be helpful in any way possible. In her spare time, she likes to hike and read, and spend time with her family.
Here at Yamashiro Orthodontics, we do our best to offer state of the art treatments in a warm comforting environment. We have digital x-rays that significantly reduce the amount of radiation one is exposed to during imaging, and are much more comfortable than the ones that normally go inside your mouth.
The Yamashiro Orthodontics office is about 80% digital which is friendly to the environment and improves the continuity of care and communication between us and your different medical and dental providers. We have free Wi-Fi for your use in our lobby/waiting room as well as power strips for charged your devices as needed. There are also refreshments, as well as a nice tooth brushing area for you to use once you are done with your afternoon snacks.

Great experience. The steps needed to adjust and keep my son's teeth aligned were explained clearly and thoroughly. I am now aware of first and second phase orthodontics and what results to expect from each phase. The price for complete phase 1 were provided and I was able to choose a payment option that worked for our family. I will be bringing my younger son in later this week for his first orthodontist appointment and I am confident the Yamashiro Orthodontics is the right choice.

Our son Milo needed a pallet extender and braces while his upper teeth were growing. The team at Yamashiro were really supportive throughout the entire process and help navigate this difficult procedure for Milo. Would highly recommed.

I came here as a new patient after moving to Colorado and the staff were all so professional, personable, and welcoming! I needed to get my retainer fixed and Val had it fixed for half the price since I only needed half of it rebonded. I am so grateful o have come here and for the service.

Came here after previous round of braces with a different orthodontist and she was so great and knowledgeable. The staff is amazing and so friendly. Val has been so sweet and awesome and everyone makes me feel very welcomed. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for braces and my experience here has been far above my previous experience.

Dr. Yamashiro was the orthodontist for all three of my children and now she's my orthodontist! Yay! Middle age braces! Orthodontia is a huge investment and I'm grateful that Dr. Yamashiro and her staff have been at the helm guiding us through the years. As an adult with braces, I have an entirely new appreciation for the kindness of the staff. The office is routinely on time and flexible if we need to make a change to our appointment and their office is centrally located and easy to get to from the schools in the area. Choosing an orthodontist is not only a financial decision but also an emotional decision. I'm happy that we chose Yamashiro Orthodontics.

I highly recommend Yamashiro Orthodontics! I needed braces in order to get jaw surgery, and Dr. Yamashiro worked collaboratively with my oral surgeon on my treatment. Everyone in the office is kind, warm, and communicative. I always felt able to ask questions and like they really cared about my progress.

Everyone at the office is extremely nice and they really listen to your requests. I did my treatment for about 2 years and had no issues. In fact, they were very patient with me on the various minor changes that I was looking for. Thank you!

The office got us in while in town for a wedding, we had a twizzler mishap while at the airport for a layover, I called while waiting for flights before we got into town and explained the situation. We were able to get an appointment to repair a broken bracket/ wire without any issues and didn't have to miss a beat! We are so grateful we were able to get this kiddo comfortable for a fun weekend. The office also took our home orthodontist information in case they had any questions!!! Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful care!!

This place is the best. They just helped us out on a holiday weekend before we leave the country for 10 days. They answered instantly and we're so helpful. They met us at there office and solved the problem quickly. this kind of customer service seams to be dead in the world these days. But not here. i would highly recommend

Yamashiro and her team are attentive, on time, kind and great at what they do. Have had a wonderful experience there. They let me try some really cool Acclean dissolvable teeth whitening strips that really worked and were fun to use. Would highly recommend this group for any orthodontic needs.
