Dr. An grew up in the bay area and completed his undergraduate studies at University of California, Berkeley. He earned his doctoral degree at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He then completed a residency, fellowship, and masters degree program at Harvard University. For the following seven years, he served as the program director of Geriatrics at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and faculty in the Division of Aging at the Harvard Medical School. During that time, he was selected as one of the top ten new dentists by the Massachusetts Dental Society for his impact on the dental profession.
Dr. An is an active member of the American Association of Endodontics, theCollege of Diplomates, and the American Dental Association. Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, playing jazz saxophone, and watching football, especially the 49ers.
Dr. Duane B. Gustafson attended Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah for his undergraduate studies. During his collegiate years, he pitched for the BYU baseball team and appeared in the College World Series. His talent and skills led him to play professionally for the San Francisco Giants organization for one season. However, he previously decided to pursue a long-term career that would take advantage of his excellent hand skills, experience in teamwork and collaboration, and an innate ability to communicate and connect with others. Dentistry was a natural fit. He continued his studies and earned the degree of Doctor of Dental Medicine at the University Of Oregon School Of Dentistry. Upon graduation, he served in the United States Army as a commissioned dental officer and completed a 14-month fellowship in endodontics at the Letterman Army Medical Center while stationed in San Francisco. Afterward, he moved down the peninsula and started a practice limited to endodontics.
Dr. Gustafson has been providing endodontic care in Redwood City for over 30 years. He has built a reputation for delivering excellent service and improving the root canal treatment experience for patients. He finds profound satisfaction in his work and has helped tens of thousands of patients keep their natural teeth and live pain-free. Also, he continues to improve his skills and has participated in the Endo Mastery Study Group for the past 12 years. Today, he enjoys serving patients in his practice more than ever, largely attributed to his highly trained support team, incredible referring dentists, and wonderfully diverse patients.
He is a member of the American Association of Endodontists, American Dental Association, and the California Dental Association. Away from the practice, Dr. Gustafson devotes his time to his wife, family, and church. He enjoys skiing, biking, hiking, working out at the gym, and photography. I truly wonder where these 5-star reviews come from. Doctor An seems to be a nice person, but he LACKS experience and I wish somebody would have warned me before I chose his practice based on these google reviews. My root canal by doctor An was a failure and I am now looking for another endodontist to fix it. From the infection I got in my mouth after visiting him, I can tell that the hygiene level of his work is also below standard.

From the first moment I entered the Woodside Endodontics clinic I felt at ease, the staff behind the counter was courteous and welcoming, the place was very clean and modern. The doctor's assistant guided me to one of the rooms and she was courteous and friendly as well. Dr Gregory An impressed me by his humble demeanor and professionalism, he was easy to talk to, and he spent an extended time with me without rushing and answered all my questions and concerns to my complete satisfaction. He and his team exceeded my expectations, and I surely recommend Dr An to anyone seeking endodontist care.

Dr An was amazing. He explained everything he was doing as he did it and he was very calming and gentle. His assistant was great as well. I never felt any pain and I absolutely felt that I was in very competent and caring hands. I highly recommend him if you need a root canal.

Dr An is a caring , and awesome dr , and his whole staff is AMAZING! I am claustrophobic, I don't like to be numb , and I cannot stand going to the Dentist .. for the sheer fact I can't sit there! But this office has a chill vibe, they allow you to have control. They make you feel so comfortable! I def HIGHLY recommend !!!!

I was a bit nervous going in for my procedure but everyone was super nice, courteous and professional. My procedure was painless, my dentist was super detailed and transparent about every step in the process. I highly recommend Woodside Endodontics, if I could give them 10 stars I would!!

I have to say I was very apprehensive since I hadn't had this procedure before and didn't know what to expect. I was greeted by the friendly and welcoming people in the front office through the exam room. Dr. An explained the whole process and put me at ease - so much so I feel asleep. I can't say enough good things about Dr An and his staff.

I get panic attacks at dental offices. Was really dreading this visit. Dr. An has excellent bedside manners. He was very kind to me, explained everything he was doing, and very professional. He had a very kind, even tone. It helped me stay calm... although I hope I never have to go back.

Was referred by my Dentist and got a same day appointment for a painful tooth that needed a root canal. Everyone in the office was friendly, helpful and kind. Dr An was amazing! Absolutely NO PAIN from the three injections that were needed to numb my mouth. He was slow, gentle and such an expert at his work! He had a very calming voice and I was out of there in no time, with a fun goodie bag and a very positive feeling about my whole experience. Dr An called me that evening to check on me and I know he really cared!

I've had several root canals (2 by Dr. An) and as dreadful as they can be, that has never been the case with him. He is informative and considerate, while always minimizing any pain. He even follows up after the procedure to check in. I strongly recommend him, and his wonderful staff, for anyone who finds themself in need of a dreaded root canal.

Dr. Gregory K. An did a root canal on a molar for me today. My experience was excellent. Dr. An was very professional and caused me no pain. This evening I am still without any issues. I would not hesitate to see him again if the need arises.
