was born in Trinidad & Tobago where he attended the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus. After three years, he received his Bachelors Degree in Chemistry and Physics in 1984, and became a certified teacher.
In 1988, he moved to Florida to attend the College of Dentistry at The University of Florida at Gainesville. In 1992, he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree with high honors, later moving to the Pensacola area where he worked as a dental practice associate until 2007. He then acquired a practice in Avon Park, and has kept busy providing exceptional dental care for his patients since then.
Dedicated to excellence, especially in education and personal development, Dr. Wood became a scholar at the Dawson Academy in 2014, an institute of higher learning that is committed to making dentists as good as they can be. Part of Dawson philosophy is that teeth are part of a larger system and should be treated as such, rather than being treated in isolation, tooth by tooth, as many dentists have been trained to do. As an active member in his church family, Dr. Wood holds several administrative positions, and other roles as needed. Dr. Wood also enjoys wildlife and aviation photography, and teaches photography classes at Cornerstone Christian Academy.

It is very hard to find a dental office like Dr.Wood's. The staff was very informative and walked me through what they were doing step by step. I've never had any dental work done other than cleanings and they made it a very easy and painless process. If you are looking for an office that treats patients like family while maintaining the highest level of professionalism, this is the place to go!

I have been seeing Dr. Wood for over a year now and will choose no other dentist! When I was having severe jaw pain, he was very thorough during the visit and was able to rule out TMJ and encouraged me to get checked for sleep apnea based on marks on my teeth. Sure enough, I have sleep apnea, now I grind less and sleep better! My most recent visit went well also, I had a crown put on for the first time, but the company they had create it did not get it just right. He took the time to reshape the crown so it fit correctly with my bite and felt perfect before it was cemented in. Amazing doctor and very kind and informative office staff and assistants. Highly recommend!

Sound the alarms. Give shouts of joy, there is a terrific dentist in Avon Park. I needed several procedures and I lived to tell the story. QUALITY expertise. Sense of humor and kind of cute! Lori, his assistant, helped to make this a 5 star. A little music would be nice- John Prine?

Dr. Wood and his staff are remarkable, kind and professional. I was in pain and they made sure to fit me in. I am always nervous when I have to go to the dentist and Lori made it her mission to ease my concerns. Dr. Wood is very thorough and listened to my concerns. During the entire visit, he explains everything he is doing and never leaves the patient until all your questions are answered. During a previous visit, I had an extraction and Dr. Wood made sure I was completely numb and it went quickly and without drama. He called me at home later to make sure I was doing well. You will not find a better dentist and dental practice no matter how long you look. I highly recommend Dr. Wood without reservation.
