Hi, my name is Won Sung, your new dentist. I also go by 'Michael.' I purchased this practice from Dr. Bruce McLane in August 2014. In the time I 've been here, I 'm gratified to find that Dr. McLane 's former patients have been very accepting during this transition and quickly welcomed me as their new dentist. I look forward to continuing to meet old and new patients alike. I know that this smooth change of ownership would not be possible without the help of our wonderful team members, Carla, Tina, Pat, Faith, and Elizabeth.
I am a South Korea-born Canadian, and my parents and sister still reside in Vancouver, British Columbia. I graduated from Magee Secondary School with honors and attended Simon Fraser University for my undergraduate degree in Honors Molecular Biology and Biochemistry.
I was then admitted to the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, a highly acclaimed and prestigious dental school known for its leading role in oral health education and research. While attending dental school I met my wife, who was then an Economics student at UC San Diego. My wife joined me a short time later after completing her school in California. During my thirdyear of dental school, we had our first child, Julie.
My wife, Ju Young, and I have been blessed with two daughters, Julie and Sophie. On weekends, we all enjoy going to the park, zoo, museums, and playgrounds. They keep us really busy, and I do my best to maintain balance betweenwork and family.

Had my first visit at Dr. Sung's office today & it was wonderful! Dr. Sung addressed my concerns and explained my plan of care in great detail. He is very pleasant & passionate in his work. Great staff also! I highly recommend to all my friends & colleagues in the area.

Only giving 4 stars because I'm really disappointed in the commutation with Dr.Sung staff. My husband and I we're looking for a dentist nearby so we decided to give Dr. Sung office a try. Calling his office I provided his staff our insurance information to confirm that we were covered to do our yearly cleanings. Shortly after we were given a call stating that they do accept our insurance and we can come in for a cleaning, so we proceed to schedule our appointment. After our cleaning a couple weeks later I receive a voicemail stating that our insurance didn't cover my cleaning because I came in three times in a year (with my insurance I'm only allowed two cleanings per 12 months, not per calendar year & yes, my mistake and I was prepared to pay for my mistake). THEN I received a bill for not only me but also my husband's cleaning (which his should've been 100% covered). I called Dr. songs office and they mentioned to me that my insurance was never covered for either me or my husband. They also mentioned that they always tells all her clients that they do not accept MetLife insurance. This is where I got upset because this was the FIRST time that I'm hearing about this! If I would've known that they did not accept my insurance I would have not gone to Dr.Sung office to begin with. I have also received multiple voicemails from their office and after reviewing them they never once mentioned that our Insurance was never covered. I literally have a voicemail from them stating that we were covered and that my insurance offers two yearly cleanings! To any future clients, make sure to TRIPLE CHECK with his staff AND your insurance to make sure you are covered. I made the mistake believing in what his staff told me and it backed fired. Other than that, Dr. Sung was great. But his staff truly let me down. Unfortunately, I will not be returning.

Dr. Sung is the best dentist in Elgin. I'm so glad we found him. Wonderful and gentle hygienists. Our whole family sees him. He's great with small children, too. Extremely accommodating with dental emergencies. We have been patients for over two years now, and I feel so fortunate to have Dr. Sung and his practice!

Everyone in the office is great and very friendly. You feel like family upon entering. Dr. Sung is extremely knowledgeable and truly cares for each of his patients. He takes his time, engages and makes you feel comfortable.

I'm Dr. Won Sung's daughter. I know he is my dad but honestly he is so nice and caring. Whenever I get my baby teeth pulled, he does it very gentle and make sure it is the most comfortable moment for the patient. I would say you can very much rely on Dr. Sung for fixing your teeth problems. He doesn't know I'm writing this so keep up the hard work dad!

It is very happy with my family visits here. The office is beyond clean! The front desk staff, Angela is impressively friendly and accommodating. The dental staff, Pat and Tina is also very skilled and pleasant and comforting. Dr. Sung is knowledgeable and trustworthy. I highly recommend them.

Thanks, Dr. Sung for the nightguard and cavity treatment. Nightguard is perfectly fit. Your cavity treatment was fast but very skillful. I always had weird feeling for months after cavity treatments. So i considered that is normal. After your treatment , as soon as anesthesia is gone, i totally forgot i had dental treatment. Now i know what is normal feeling after good cavity treatment. Thx again for your wonderful treatment. you are the best dentist!!!

Dr. Sung and his staff provide top-notch services to their patients. He is very keen to details and always makes sure that his patients are completely satisfied with his work. I had my fillings replaced and was very satisfied with the work. They were perfectly leveled and the whole process was very painless. It wasn't always the case when I used to go to other places. That's why our whole family of 5 have been going to Dr. Sung office. I am glad that we made a right choice for our dental service despite a bit of driving time to his office. I could not be happier with Dr. Sung! So much so, that after getting new insurance - with a very SMALL network of providers in my immediate area - I still choose to go to Dr. Sung. I tried branching out within my network since his office is an hour drive, but that just turned into a debacle...with Dr. Sung having to fix and/or complete the other dentist's work. I was a little nervous when he took over the practice because I was so happy with Dr. McLane, but it's very evident that Dr. McLane wanted to ensure he left his patients in good hands. He chose well! Happy with his work, attitude willingness to work with his patients...and his unmatched ability of delivering a shot with no pain. All of his staff is amazing! Angela is the exact opposite of the previous dentist's front desk staff (what a grouch she was!). Angela is cheerful, peppy and full of smiles. Go here, you won't be disappointed...just not too many, because I still want to be able to get in ;)

I have been a patient since he took over the practice from Dr. McLane. The service and level of expertise are second to none. On one occasion I had a crown break off when the office was closed. Dr. Sung made a special trip to the office to see me and care for my issue. Tina has been my hygienist at Dr. Sung's practice for many years. Her skill and knowledge are the best that I have had.
