Dr. James Elliott graduated from the University Of Iowa College Of Dentistry in 2006, where he served as the vice president of his class. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Iowa Dental Association and the Iowa Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Elliott also serves the community by participating in the Donated Dental Services program. In 2013, Dr. Elliott received the Excellence in Dentistry award by the Productive Dentist Academy. To better serve your dental needs, Dr. Elliott attends numerous continuing education classes throughout the year.

Dr. Elliott has an extensive background in all areas of general dentistry including fillings, crowns, bridges, root canals, partials, and dentures, as well as implants, sleep apnea, Invisalign, orthodontics, and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Elliott enjoys all aspects of dentistry and is very good with children.

Dr. Elliott grew up in Ottumwa, Iowa, and is married to his lovely wife, Laura. They have two boys, Grayson (10) and Landon (8). In his free time, Dr. Elliott enjoys spending time with his family, helping out in the community, and playing golf.

Jason and his family are no strangers to Iowa. From 2005 through 2010, they lived in Appanoose County where he practiced dentistry with the River Hills Community Health Center. Since then he has been back in his native state of Indiana practicing near Indianapolis.

Heather was raised in Ankeny, Iowa, and attended AIB where she graduated with an Associates Degree in Business Management. She has served in several roles from medical billing to a barista. Heather is happily married to her husband, Ron, and has two grown children, Erin and Alicin. She joined our practice in February of 2018.

Dr. Keul since 1999 prior to Dr. Elliott taking over Winterset Dental. She previously worked at Iowa Oral and Maxillary Surgeons. She is married with children, grandchildren and two dogs to keep her busy. She enjoys spending time with family, fishing, riding my motorcycle and doing some volunteering. She states, 'I really enjoy my job - never the same thing. I have really enjoyed learning new things since Dr. Elliott has taken over the practice. I work with a great group of people who truly care about our patients.'

Shawna is a Registered Dental Assistant with over 20 years of experience in the dental field. She is known as the 'mom' of the group as she enjoys bringing and feeding us delicious food. Shawna is married with two grown kids, Jordan and Trey. She also claims she has lots of pets. Shawna enjoys working with flowers, gardening, going camping and cheering on the Hawkeyes in her free time. She is a Winterset graduate and long-time resident. Shawna joined our practice in May of 2018.

Alexus is our newest Registered Dental Assistant. She previously worked at Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics of Central Iowa. Alexus enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, Wesley, and their two rescue dogs, Sammie and Saige. She also enjoys spending time on their farm with their cows and hunting. Alexus states, 'My favorite thing about dentistry is that we can always help people love their smile.'

Mary (Kate) is a Dental Hygienist and has been with the former Dental Associates and Winterset Dental for many years. Mary likes to confuse people on whether to call her Mary or Kate - either works! She truly enjoys Dr. Elliott, Dr. Phelps and this staff. She appreciates the ability and desire of the staff to work well together and to do what is best for the patients' needs. Mary enjoys keeping up on current research in periodontics and oral hygiene. Mary has a daughter, son and three grandchildren. She was born and raised on a farm south of Winterset. She enjoys spending time with her family, being involved in her church and volunteering at the Historical Complex.

Shelley was born and raised in Michigan. Although she is surrounded by Iowa fans, she is an avid Michigan Wolverine fan through and through. GO BLUE!' Shelley has two grown children and three grandkids. Shelley recently moved to Winterset and is still learning about small town life but loving it so far! She knew since she was 12 years old that she wanted to be a dental hygienist!

She first became a dental assistant, and after 17 years she went back to school to fulfill her dream of becoming a Dental Hygienist and has been living her dream since 2006. In her down time, Shelley enjoys riding on the motorcycle and playing with her dogs. Shelley joined Winterset Dental in 2019 and is hoping to make Winterset her permanent home!

Shadow is an Aussiedoodle two year old. She is gentle and calming to our patients and loves to greet you. You will likely see her come in briefly and say hi or greet you at the door. However, if you are not comfortable with our therapy dog, just let us know. We will keep her back in the office away from you.

Office was unable to polish or clean my teeth with water spraying tool due to covid19 regulations. I refused an exam and x-rays, as I had been there 3 months prior;. I was in the office approximately 45 minutes and the bill was ridiculously high. I have been going to this dentist for about ten years..... I also was billed for my adult daughters bill in the mail. The staff was shall we say very short, sweet and fast with their words. I will not be back

Dental visits can be a bit scary and the cost makes u nervous. I always just avoided a dentist unless I had an issue. Dr. Elliott and the staff are amazing. They work as a team and Dr Elliott is right in there chatting and having fun. His work is the best I have ever had. "Worth every penny" They make you want to come back . Mike

Had a great experience! Was recommended by a friend. The front desk ladies were very welcoming, made me feel right at home. The dentist was very professional and took the time to get to know me. He was thorough with asking me questions and wanting to know my concerns with the health of my teeth. Was very gentle (important)! All the employees at Winterset Dental made me feel extremely comfortable and confident in their skills. I will definitely be making future appointments!

Never had better care for dental work than here. Amazed at the tech used here and how awesome Dr. Elliot is. I hate going to have dental work done, but they make the most bearable I've ever had.
