The Winters Healthcare Foundation (WHF) is a true grassroots organization, created in 2000 by a group of concerned citizens, including farmers, retired seniors, and business owners who lived and worked in the Winters area. This group wanted to improve the health of all persons in the community, including underserved populations in southwestern Yolo County and the surrounding areas.
WHF originally started as an independent non-profit that supported the work of a town physician whom took care in listening to his patients as well establishing an understanding of the patients family and other circumstances that affected their lives. In 2002, WHF merged with a physician office and became a non-profit community clinic, and in 2005 WHF became a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).
Each member of the Winters Healthcare team has been trained in the relationship-based model of care, learned from our friends at the Southcentral Foundation in Alaska; we believe our ability to develop relationships with each other, and our patients, relates directly to our effectiveness in our work and in the success of our patient outcomes. We use data for decision-making and embrace continuous quality improvement. The results of all these efforts has resulted in extremely satisfied patients, exceptional quality of care, and remarkable staff satisfaction.

Patients who are receiving their health care services from Winters Healthcare are encouraged and invited to join the Winters Healthcare Board of Directors. As a Federally Qualified Health Center, WHF is devoted to having more than half of the current board members be a current patient of Winters Healthcare
