We hope this message finds you and your family in good health. We missed you and your familys smiles! Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal life and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety and health.

Strict infection control and patient and staff safety have always been a top priority for our practice as you know from your past visits to our office. Our infection control processes have been enhanced to protect all within our office from the COVID-19 virus. You may notice the office is a bit cooler than usual as the extra layers of Personal Protective Equipment retains more body heat. We want to tell you about the infection control procedures we follow in our practice to keep you, your family and our team members safe.

Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Nevada Dental Association (NDA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we remain up to date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies recommendations.

Joseph A. Wineman was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He received his BA, cum laude, in Biology from Washington and Jefferson College, Washington, PA in May 1977. Dr. Wineman graduated from University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in June 1981 in the top 10% of his class. Following graduation from dental school, Dr. Wineman entered the United States Army as a Captain in the Army Dental Corps to fulfill his military scholarships obligation. After serving in Germany and Edgewood, MD, he was selected for training in Comprehensive Dentistry and was at that time, one of the youngest officers ever to be selected for the program. In 1989, Dr. Wineman graduated with honors from the Advanced Education Program in General Dentistry-2 year at Fort Bragg, NC. Following this graduation, he returned to Germany and eventually deployed in support of Desert Shield and Desert Storm. During the first Gulf War he served as the officer-in-charge of the dental clinic supporting the largest Iraqi Prisoner of War camp. For his efforts during the conflict, MAJ Wineman was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. Returning to Germany in the summer of 1991, he became Board Certified successfully passing the requirements of the Federal Services Board of General Dentistry. In 1997 LTC Wineman graduated with highest honors from Baylor University with a Masters degree in Healthcare Administration. In 1999, Colonel Wineman was awarded the A designator from The Surgeon General, US Army, recognizing him as one of the top practitioners in his specialty: Comprehensive Dentistry. Recognized by his peers for his clinical and scholarly contributions to his profession, Colonel Wineman was inducted as a Fellow, International College of Dentists in the fall of 2000. In October of 2002, Colonel Wineman officially retired from the US Army Dental Corps after completing 22 years of active duty service.

Following 17 moves during their time in the military, the Wineman family relocated to Nevada in September of 2002 eventually settling in Henderson in 2004. Dr. Wineman has been practicing at the Green Valley Location since 18 September 2002. Since retiring from the military Dr. Wineman has achieved Diplomate status with the American Board of General Dentistry, Academy of General Dentistry (AGD)-becoming one of the less than 1% of general dentists with this distinction. Although he has been practicing for more than 35 years, Dr. Wineman believes in pursuing continuing education to ensure his patients receive the most comprehensive and advanced dental care he can possibly deliver. He always places his patients welfare first. If Dr. Wineman refers you to a specialist it is because he wants you to have the very best dental care possible. Rest assured he will only refer to specialists he personally knows and respects and ones that will treat his patients just like he does. Dr. Wineman easily exceeds the state mandated minimum requirement for continuing education hours each year and seeks out courses that assist him in maximizing his patients oral health.

Dr. Wineman is an active member of the Southern Nevada Dental Society. He has served on the Executive Committee and has been a delegate to the Nevada Dental Association. He currently serves as a member of the NDAs Legislative Committee. In April 2016 he was elected to serve as Secretary for the Southern Nevada Dental Society and will serve as the Societys President in 2018-2019. When elected to this office he stepped down as the Chairman Emeritus of the SNDS Peer Review Committee where he had served the community for 12 years mediating disputes between local dentists and their patients. Wineman also volunteers as a mentor to dental students attending UNLV School of Dental Medicine. He has volunteered his time helping children at Give Kids a Smile events scheduled the first weekend in February since 2002. He is a member of the American Dental Association as well as the Academy of General Dentistry. Since 2011, Dr. Wineman has served as the first Advisory Chairman for the Dental Cooperative in the Vegas Valley. In his free time, Dr. Wineman can be found working out at Lifetime Fitness, Green Valley, watching his beloved Steelers play with his fellow displaced Pittsburghers at Shakespeares Pub off Eastern Avenue, performing landscape maintenance at his home (and his daughters places as well), attending his grandchildrens school or sporting events, reading dental journals and action-type novels (Vince Flynn, Tom Clancy, Clive Cussler, Lee Childs), sharping his pistol marksmanship at Green Valley Range, and taking guitar lessons. Dr. Wineman readily admits he would be a lot better if he practiced regularly but just cannot seem to find the time. Married to his college sweetheart, Cheri, since December 1977, they have three adult children and four grandsons and two granddaughters.

He and his wife enjoy dining out at one of the many restaurants around the valley with family and friends, attending the Broadway Series at the Smith Center, taking in a movie, occasionally playing the penny machines at GVR Casino, bumping into their patients at the Henderson COSTCO and other local venues, or teaching grandchildren how to swim in their backyard pool.

Patient Concierge Born in Baltimore Maryland while my family was passing through, I lived in 14 states as child. I met my husband Joseph Wineman at Washington and Jefferson College in my freshman year. We were married in my senior year. Following graduation and after my husband completed dental school, we began our military adventure in Baumholder, Germany. During our 22 year military career we moved 17 times and had 3 children. Our son, Jody, was born in Pittsburgh, PA, daughter Laurel was born is Landstuhl, Germany, and second daughter Caitlin was born outside of Baltimore MD. My greatest pleasure is watching my own children succeed in their chosen paths and experiencing the love of our grandchildren. Most days you can find me at the local Starbucks enjoying a cup of coffee and writing a letter before work. If you see a woman doing exactly that, say hi. It is most likely me as no one else writes actual letters by hand anymore (so I am told frequently!)
