As an orthodontist, I develop long-term relationships with my patients. I enjoy seeing them develop their self-esteem when they improve their appearance with their smiles. I hope to treat each patient as if he or she were a family member. The importance of improving ones smile may not be public health enemy #1, but it certainly is fun and gratifying.

I earned my bachelors degree in Biological Sciences from Stanford University. After graduation from Stanford, I attended Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where I obtained my Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. I then worked for four years as a general dentist with the U. S. Public Health Service in the branch of Indian Health Service. I served the Hualapai, Havasupai, Navajo and Hopi tribes in the desert Southwest.

I feel as if I have a wide range of expertise in all fields of dentistry, and I can work in an interdisciplinary approach when it comes to more complex dental situations that require many specialties to be involved.

Professional Experience: 1982-87: Dental Student, Harvard School of Dental Medicine 1987-90: US Public Health Service Commissioned Officer; Indian Health Service Dentist 1990-93: Orthodontic Resident, University of Michigan 1994-97: Private practice orthodontist, Healdsburg, CA 1997-present: Private practice orthodontist, Windsor, CA

I grew up outside of Reading, Pennsylvania. After attending university in Palo Alto, however, I was determined to return to northern California after I completed my training in orthodontics. I have lived in Healdsburg for over 24 years. My husband Bert and I have been married for 22 years and have two children Juliet and Ethan.Juliet attends Stanford University, where she studies Management Science and Engineering. She cycles competitively and plays guitar.Ethan attends UC Berkeley, where he studies Computer Science. He likes to travel, work out at the gym and eat good food.

Missy grew up in south Chicago (Calumet City, IL), and moved to Sonoma County in 1977 with her husband. She enrolled in the SRJC Dental Assisting program in 1981. At that time, it was a full two-year program, and she graduated in 1983. She entered the dental field upon recommendation from her sister-in-law who is a nurse. Missy worked briefly for a local pediatric dentist Dr. Jim Berger, but then worked for 18 years with Dr. David Tharp, a general dentist in Sebastopol. Missy obtained ample experience in both dental assisting and office managing.

Missy has been working with Dr. Chang since 2000. She lives in Windsor, and has one adult daughter in Cloverdale and two grandsons. Missy loves to ride Harleys, and in fact did a cross-country motorcycle trip with her husband in 2001, covering 7200 miles and going along historical Route 66, where she got her kicks!

Carol was born and raised in Santa Rosa and graduated from Montgomery High School. Upon graduation from high school, Carol entered the dental field through recommendation of a family friend who was a pediatric dentist. She worked for a pediatric dentist in Reno, Nevada for several years. In the mid-1980s, she returned to Sonoma County, where she worked for a local orthodontist Dr. Frank Cercone and a general dentist Dr. Robert Didier, each for a handful of years. Carol obtained her Registered Dental Assistant licensure in 1982, after attending a three-month RDA course and racking up many years of on-the-job training. She also has a multitude of experience working in all disciplines of the dental field, when she temped as a RDA with a local dental temporary agency Ultimate Potential, in the mid-1980s. Carol has been working with our team at Windsor Orthodontics since 2003.

  • Small number of staff members. The doctor will always treat you hands-on. She will delegate some procedures to her registered dental assistants, but she will always see the patient herself. This office is not a mill.

They do the very best job on working on my braces as well as having such nice and amazing staff. I have seen great improvement to my teeth, especially because whenever I have questions or a wire that's too long they are one call away from scheduling me to get it fixed.

Warm, personal quality care. Missy and Dr Chang are delightful and competent. You won't find a better place. Other places were too big with an assembly line feel.
