I very much enjoy spending time outdoors, cooking for friends and family, and traveling to new places together with Dr. Amber DeWeerd. I am also very excited to be a part of the wonderful community that Winchester has to offer. You will likely see Dr. Amber and I, walking around town with our daughter, Nina, and our fur baby, Basser, the Golden Retriever.
At Smiles of Virginia Dental Center, I offer a full range of general dentistry services. However, my primary focus is on implants from start to finish, oral surgery including wisdom teeth, full mouth rehabilitation, orthodontics and IV-sedation. Most of my patients needing general dentistry like fillings or crowns often will see my wife Dr. Amber for this.
I earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, the only Dental School in the U.S. that offers programs in all dental specialties. Since graduation I have been working with children and adults treating patients of all ages. Children have always had a special place in my heart, and I very much enjoy getting kids to feel great about their teeth and going to the dentist. I also enjoy working with people who have anxiety or nervousness associated with dentistry. Practicing dentistry allows me relieve people of dental pain and help them feel good about their smiles.
I grew up on a small farm on the Iowa/South Dakota border where we had cattle, alfalfa, and loveable pets such as dogs and cats. I have always enjoyed being around animals and the outdoors. In my spare time I enjoy reading, running, and other outdoor activities such as hiking and biking. I love food and I have learned to bake, but I am lucky enough to enjoy the excellent food that Dr. Oestervemb cooks!
I am very excited to get out into the community in Winchester. I hope to volunteer at the local schools and organizations to get to know people and help them grow in their dental knowledge. We love to see and explore new places. So when you visit, please feel free to share any great restaurants, hikes, or vacation recommendations! You will likely see Dr. Oestervemb and I, walking around town with our daughter, Nina, and our fur baby, Basser, the Golden Retriever.

I felt confident in letting them do the work I needed. Because of the consultation was handled very professionally. Showing the various x rays and the Dr explaining my options. No pressure. Most importantly a better then fair price compared to other establishments I been to. Great job.

Great experience. Wait time after check in was seconds... not minutes. Staff was extremely polite and courteous. Dentist was professional, and took time to answer questions and engage in dialogue regarding dental care and cleaning.

Maroon 5 played on the ceiling mounted TV as Dr. O ripped a rear tooth out of my mouth. That is the only part of my tooth extraction that could of been improved... I'm more of a Metallica guy. Dr. Amber knows this. But seriously, if I had to look longingly into another dudes eyes during one of the more unpleasant experiences a person can have, I'm glad it was Dr. O.... He may of ripped a piece of my skeleton from my face but he gently stole my heart.

My first visit to a dentist in the area brought me to Smiles of Virginia Family Dental Center. I loved the atmosphere and friendliness of all the employees. Madison greted me with a smile and took down the details of my toothache that brought me there. She was super nice and pleasant to talk with. Dr Barney was also the same and both of made me feel very comfortable which is important to me as a 58 year old baby when it comes to dentists. Planning on making them my Dentist office going forward.

From the moment you walk in the door until you leave you are treated like one great big family. I have a big fear of anything dentist related. When I'm there having work done they make me feel relaxed. That is not always easy when you have been this way for most of your 77 years. Love you guys, you are great. Thank you

In the past I had always suffered from anxiety when I had to go to a dentist, however I was grateful to find this office. Everyone that works there is very friendly and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. The doctors at this office took the time to listen to my concerns, fears and was extremely helpful from the first visit to ensure I was comfortable with whatever treatment I received. Each time I have been there they have made me feel like I was their only patient. I now go twice a year for cleaning and don't dread going. I have already referred them to others and will continue to do so. Thank you Dr. DeWeerd, Dr. Oestervemb and my Hygienist Liz. Wonderful place to go.

Smiles of Virginia is a great place for your dental care. I had a filling fall out..made a phone call and was taken the next day. Walked in the next day and Dr. O took a look and patched me up very well and I was on my way. Actually I could have been taken care of that day but my work prevented that. I don't think I could or would want to find a better place to go for my dentistry needs. Honestly..no one is paying me to say this

This was my first visit to the practice. I knew I was in good hands as soon as I met my hygienist Brie. She was very considerate of my limited mouth opening issues and worked through it successfully to keep me comfortable. She performed a meticulous and thorough cleaning. Dr. Oestervemb was knowledgeable, personable and listened to my concerns. The office staff was great too!

This place and experience was simply magical and very high tech. All concerns were addressed as well as our next steps. My son loved the waiting area. Maddie and Dr. Amber are amazing and passionate professionals who helped my son during his very first dental visit!

Visiting the dentist is not something I look forward to. However, Winchester Smiles of Virginia Family Dental Center changed my mind. Morgan, my hygienist was amazing! She took great care of me and made sure Imy experience was exceptional! Dr. Kim was kind and took time to answer my questions and thoroughly explained everything. They are an amazing team and I highly recommend them for your dental care.
