Dr. Wilson received his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, which is ranked as the best dental school in the country and the world according to the Shanghai Ranking Consultancy. While at the University of Michigan, Dr. Wilson completed his bachelors degree in just three years and graduated at the top of his dental school class. Dr. Wilson was inducted into the prestigious national dental honor society Omicron Kappa Upsilon just prior to graduation as a result of scholastic and academic achievement. Immediately following dental school, Dr. Wilson completed an intensive three-year orthodontic residency program at the University of Tennessee in Memphis. While at the University of Tennessee, Dr. Wilson earned a certificate in orthodontics and a masters degree in dental sciences. During his senior year, Dr. Wilson served as chief resident. In this leadership role, Dr. Wilson led residents in orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning seminars. The University of Tennessees orthodontic residency program is the oldest in the south and is considered to be one of the top orthodontic programs in the country, with a special emphasis on clinical orthodontics.
During his residency, Dr. Wilsons research was published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics the most prestigious journal in orthodontics. He was the recipient of the Dr. James Powell research award for his research contribution. Dr. Wilson received international recognition at the American Association of Orthodontists annual meeting for his treatment of a very complex patient.
Dr. Wilson is currently active in seminars and local study clubs to further his expertise in orthodontics. He is currently a member in the American Association of Orthodontists, Southern Association of Orthodontists, Tennessee Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association and Tennessee Dental Association. Dr. Wilson is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.
Karina is the practice manager at Wilson Orthodontics. From answering the phone and greeting patients to scheduling and filing insurance, Karina is the front office expert. She began her love of orthodontics in Michigan while she had braces in high school. From there, she assisted in both orthodontic and general dental offices and obtained a Bachelor of Science in dental hygiene. Karinas true love is working with people and making them feel loved and welcomed into the Wilson Ortho family. In her free time, Karina enjoys competitive horseback riding (eventing) and reading.
Donya is our clinic manager and is a registered dental assistant. She has over 20 years of experience in orthodontics. She is also a skilled lab, X-ray and records technician, which makes her a great asset to our team. Donya has a friendly, fun-loving personality with a heart for serving God and those around her that helps to create an enjoyable, relaxed environment for our patients.
Caleigh is a kind and hardworking orthodontic assistant. She enjoys working with our patients and helping make them feel comfortable and welcomed when they arrive. Caleigh was also treated by Dr. Wilson in high school. For fun, Caleigh loves photography, shopping and Ford Mustangs.
Courtney is one of our fabulous orthodontic assistants and fell in love with orthodontics while she was treated by Dr. Wilson in high school. After graduation, Courtney went to school to become a registered dental assistant and joined the Wilson Ortho family in June 2021. Outside of the office, Courtney enjoys spending time with her friends and going to concerts.
Kara is relatively new to our team, but she loves having the opportunity to help patients feel more confident about their smile each day! She studied at Dental Staff School of Tennessee in the fall of 2021. Outside of work, Kara loves to play video games, go shopping and spend time outdoors. She is willing to learn and try new things every day!
