I am a hometown boy who has returned to Cedar City where I was born and raised. I graduated from Cedar High School and Southern Utah University before attending Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
After earning my Doctorate of Dental Medicine in general dentistry, I continued at sunny NSU to complete a two-year intensive residency in orthodontics. During that training, I was exposed to hundreds of patients with various malocclusions and trained in a range of treatment methods for children, adolescents, and adult patients.
The transformation that accompanies orthodontic treatment is unique and wonderful, in terms of both the physical appearance and the overall self-esteem of the patient. I anticipate and guide that transformation throughout treatment, and it brings a great deal of satisfaction and patient enjoyment.
Patient interaction and the ability to talk with patients, answer questions, and help them appreciate their treatment is a meaningful part of my role as their orthodontist as is as meeting and interacting with so many interesting individuals and families. One of the most fulfilling moments in my day is conducting a new patient exam with a child or even grandchild whose parents or grandparents were treated by Dr. Whetten or myself years ago. Whenever that happens, an appreciation for the service and happiness orthodontics brings into a persons life can truly be appreciated.
I have enjoyed treating many patients bilingually, during both dental school and my orthodontic residency. I served an LDS mission in Cordoba, Argentina, where I learned Spanish. One highlight of my dental education was a summer service trip to the interior of Brazil. It was remote and impoverished, yet the people were fantastic. It was an honor to work with them and provide dental service that otherwise would not have been available to them.
I met my wife, Juliann, at SUU and we married after my first year in Florida, which proved that long-distance relationships can work! We are the parents of four: daughters Taylyn and Kaia bookend our two sons, Jaxon and Lincoln. I enjoy fishing, golfing, volleyball, and wakeboarding or wakesurfing. Prior to dental school, I could often be found with my volleyball net set up on the quad at SUU, playing a match between classes, or catching the first ride at daybreak on Lake Powell.
I have enjoyed orthodontics for as long as I remember, first as a patient, and now as an orthodontist. Having joined my uncle, Dr. Lance Whetten, who has practiced in Cedar City as an orthodontist for the last 30 years, is the realization of a family dream and an opportunity for me to serve the community that meant so much to me as a youth and now as an adult.

Awesome staff, friendly atmosphere. Everyone there makes you feel welcome and listened to while providing excellent orthodontics. I had braces with another orthodontist previously and switched to Wilson Orthodontics as an adult for braces. I'm so glad I did! Everything is well explained at each appointment so I know exactly where we are in the process of braces at any given time. It is evident that they keep up to date in their industry and update their techniques for the comfort of the clients and efficiency of the services provided. Several options were available including different types of braces and Invisalign. All types were well explained at the first consultation. Wilson Orthodontics accepts insurance and/or payment plans which made this service possible for me! They continue to help the process of straightening teeth be affordable and as painless as possible.

Very kind staff. They stayed after hours to start the process of Invisalign and an expander after our consult. We live 90 minutes away so this was a great kindness. Dr. Wilson is very knowledgeable and great at explaining everything, putting any and all concerns at ease. It is a fantastic office and we will continue to use them for all of our orthodontic needs.

Dr Wilson is simply the best of the best! It was an excellent experience from start to finish. The office staff was wonderful to work with, very accommodating to our schedule. My son had a problem with a wire over the weekend and Dr Wilson met us in the office to take care of it for us. He makes everyone he sees feel like family.
