Westside Family Healthcare is a community-minded, non-partisan health center located in Delaware. We opened our doors in 1988 and have maintained our status as a Federally Qualified Health Center since 1994.
Thirty years after opening our doors, Westside remains a constant source for the compassionate care that families depend on to live vibrant, healthy lives. We reach beyond conventional medicine to address social, emotional and economic factors that affect our neighbors.
As a community health center we are a premier environment for educating and training the next generation of healthcare professionals. We have an affiliated partnership with Christiana Care Health Systems Family Medicine Residency program and General Practice Dentistry Residency program.
Through collaboration with Christiana Care Health System, Family Medicine physician residents provide care full time at the Family Medicine Center at Westside Family Healthcare. Residents have a panel of patients who they see regularly and have training support from a team of Westside physicians. Residents will spend the three-year training experience under the supervision of experienced physicians at the Wilmington health center. You will practice full spectrum, evidence-based, patient-centered medicine in a Primary Care Medical Home model. Your training will include an emphasis on preventive medicine, acute and chronic disease management, and treatment of addiction disorders and complications. You will collaborate with behavioral health providers, nutritionists, health care coordinators, and other enabling services to care for your panel of patients.
Westside Family Healthcare participates in Christiana Care Health Services General Practice Dental Residency Program. Westside provides appropriate teaching and supervision of dental residents under the supervision of a fully licensed dentist in a fully equipped operatory. Dental residents develop a full range of skills needed to evaluate, plan and treat patients. During your residency, you will provide preventive and restorative care and simple oral surgery. You will gain an understanding of community health, treating patients of diverse populations, dental materials and instrumentation, time management and behavior management situations. You will work with a resident coordinator/dental assistant in Electronic Dental Record charting, posting and documentation. The dental residency takes place at Westsides largest dental site in Wilmington.
Clinical partnerships improve the overall health and health care experience of our patients by strengthening transitions of care, lowering re-admission rates, and providing diagnostic and specialty services.
