Dr. Javier Sanz is originally from Barcelona, Spain. After recieving his dental degree, he went on to complete a speciality in Prostodontics in the Universidad Internacional of Catalunya. Since his passion for dentistry laid in surgical approaches, he decided to pursue his speciality in Periodontics. After being in private practice for a few years he moved across the world to study periodontics at the State University of New York at Buffalo. While there, not only did he get a strong clinical and research background, but he also met his wife Nancy.
After completing his residency, Dr. Sanz and his wife moved back to Barcelona where he started in private practice, became clinical director of research in periodontics at the Universidad of Catalunya, finished a pHD in periodontal lasers, published more than 20 research articles and gave continuing education courses to dentists and hygenists. He also began a position as clinical investigator in an implant company, Phibo. Dr. Sanz is particularly proud to be recognized as a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. This status is granted to a periodontist who has completed significant achievements beyond the mandatory educational requirements of the specialty. Less than 50% of periodontists are board certified.
Six years later, his wife wanted to return to the United States to be close her family and they decided to settle in the Northern virginia rea with their newborn son. In Virginia, Dr. Sanz was in private practice as well as working as an adjunct faculty in the periodontal department of the Virginia Commonwealth University where he enjoyed educating future periodontists on surgical techniques and dental implantology.
In October 2016 Dr. Sanz and his family decided to move to Wilmington. Dr. Sanz joined Dr. Michelle Broders periodontal specialty office while she was gradually transitioning on to teaching. His main interests include implants, bone regeneration, and periodontal plastic surgery. He strives to utilize the most advanced techniques to provide patients with optimal care and treatment outcomes.

Wilmington Periodontics & Implants is an office specializing in advanced gum and implant treatment. Conveniently located east of downtown Wilmington, the Wilmington Periodontics & Implants of Dr Javier Sanz is a state of the art facility.
The office was designed so the patient would be in a clean, modern, private and pleasant space. We specifically studied the lighting and the ambient color to provide a calm and relaxant aspect. Privacy is achieved by closing the waiting and treatment areas but the natural light coming from our windows provides an open and free sensation.
Wilmington periodontics and implants has 4 completely equipped treatment chairs distributed in our 1700 square feet office. We constantly maintain ourselves at the cusp of technology, providing only the most advanced treatment by using the most recent science and dental technology. We are a completely digitalized office. Among other technology in our office, our cone beam computed tomography and intraoral scan allows us to plan dental implant placement in a 3D and digital manner without the need of referring you to a center or having to take manual impressions.

I cannot speak more highly about the compassionate and skillful care I received from Dr. Sanz. Both he and his staff took one of the most anxiety filled experiences of my life and carefully deftly walked along side me through the complex and long process. Due to poorly done implants on my front two teeth after a childhood accident, it was determined they needed to be removed, bone and tissue grafts done, and re installed. After many visits over the course of a year I have two brand new properly aligned implants. Patient care, recovery, and outcome take priority. The doctor and his amazing staff make this office space a clear example for others to replicate. A better practice, for sure. Thank you Dr. Sanz and team.

Phenomenal periodontist and staff. I was pleasantly surprised that I experienced no pain during and after a tooth extraction as well as during implant procedure. Dr Sanz does a great job explaining problem, options for treatment, and executing solution. It's clear that his office is a state-of-the-art facility. His consistently high patient reviews are well deserved. I would highly recommend him.

I went to wilmington periodontics and implants to have my teeth checked and cleaned. The staff was courteous and my appointment was right on time. The hygienist, Beth made me comfortable during the whole procedure.

Fortunately, I didn't need any treatments, so I only had a consultation with Dr. Sanz. It was only a few minutes, but I could tell that he is emotionally intelligent by how he specifically addressed my concerns and clarified my gum condition. In addition, he was really straightforward and actually listened to my problem. I've had several consultations with other dental doctors...Dr. Sanz clarified everything and I left his office with no questions or doubts in my mind.

I was in need of a gum graft due to some major gum recession. The office walked me through the entire process and what to expect along with ample follow ups to ensure everything was healing correctly. I would recommend coming for any work needed and will definitely continue coming for my dental work.

I had a gum graft performed here 3 weeks ago. I had an appointment today to have the rest of the stitches removed, but in the <8 hours since, I've so far found 4 more pieces that were left in my gums, which I've had to pull out myself. One of them was over an inch long. The only reason I'm even willing to give them two stars is because the staff up at the front desk are wonderful. Speaking of the front desk however, there is a sign displayed very prominently at reception, offering their patients visa gift cards in exchange for 5 star reviews. Something to keep in mind.
