Dr. Kim received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, which was ranked 4th in the world by the QS World University Rankings in 2015. After graduation, he moved to Providence, Rhode Island and served as a dentist at community health centers, treating underserved women and children as well as the homeless. After witnessing what big differences his small contribution can make in childrens health, he decided to pursue a career in pediatric dentistry.
Dr. Kim then went on to complete his specialty training in pediatric dentistry at Saint Joseph Health Services of Rhode Island, a Providence site for Lutheran Medical Center. During his residency, he received extensive training in hospital dentistry, providing dental care for patients with special health care needs, and management of Early Childhood Caries in infants and toddlers. His training also included providing emergency dental services at Hasbro Childrens Hospital, the only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center in the state of Rhode Island.
He participated in a number of Give Kids a Smile Day events over the years, and he enjoyed providing dental screening for children at the refugee clinic and local schools in Rhode Island. He wishes to continue his contribution in providing dental care for local underserved children in Illinois.
Through continuing education, Dr. Kim stays up-to-date in latest advancement in dentistry. He was a member of Seattle Study Club, a prestigious club for dentists and dental specialists across the world. Also as a proud member of American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, and Chicago Dental Society, Dr. Kim regularly attends their annual meetings for latest updates in the field. Most recently, he received an associate fellowship from the World Clinical Laser Institute.
Dr. Kim enjoys skating and going on long bike rides with his two children, and regularly attends baseball and hockey games. He can also be found in local ice rinks struggling to pursue his other dream of playing in the NHL.

We came across Dr. Kim through our insurance company, we needed a second opinion and dental work for 4yo We couldn't be happier! He is so good with explaining everything si it doesn't sound scary to the child, caring, quality work & my child loves him! we usually get extra exited when we know an upcoming visit is on the schedule & can't with too visit Look no further, you're in great hands with Dr. Kim!

I highly recommend Dr. Kim and staff. He is very thorough and patient to explain everything to me and my children. He does an excellent job on educating them each visit on what to focus on for their teeth so that they understand. I am very happy to have found them.

I'm writing this for my father in law. He took his 3 year old granddaughter to get her tooth extracted. He said it couldn't have gone smoother and that the doctor and staff are very professional. He would highly recommend anyone and everyone to take their child there.

Words can not describe how thankful I am for finding Dr. Kim and his team for my son's dental needs! Dr. Kim is truly amazing. He is extremely kind and patient when it comes to working with children. He explained all of the dental work my son needed and he also explained step by step the procedures he was performing. I have never seen my son at such ease with any other dentist before! Truly one of the greatest dentists out there! Dr. Kim thank you for all that you do! My son absolutely adores you!

We absolutely love Dr. Kim! My girls are 5 & 3 and have seen two other dentist and have always dreaded going to the dentist. Every dentist visit they would leave in tears until we found Dr. Kim. He is very professional, kind and caring. My girls get excited to go to the dentist now. My 3 year old had to have work done on her tooth and we were so worried but with Dr. Kim's reassurance and compassion our little one was (in Dr. Kim's words) a rock star. I'd highly recommend Dr. Kim and his staff!

We had an excellent dental experience with Dr. Kim. Dr. Kim is very patient and takes an extra time to make sure kids feel comfortable. My daughter was terrified to have her tooth extracted. Dr. Kim calmed my daughter down and explained step by step everything to her. My kids talked to their friends about how great Dr. Kim was.

Even though he was told that my child has anxiety, he kept on talking with a very high tone voice at my child that he has other patients waiting for him and doesn't have time to spend with my child more than he already planned for. Sorry Dr. Kim but you chose profession to work with children and they are scared from dentist to begin with!
