William A. McClanahan D.M.D. is a restorative and cosmetic dentist for the entire family. His commitment to excellence is seen in his compassionate care with his patients. Dr. McClanahan was born and raised in the Shoals area.
Born in Florence, he attended Coffee High School where he graduated as Valedictorian in 1969. He then went on to earn a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University. Dr. McClanahan graduated from the University of Alabama Dental School in 1978.
He was ranked #1 in his freshman and sophomore class and finished #5 in his graduating class. His continuing education includes studying cosmetic dentistry under Dr. Bill Strupp. He has also studied endodontics using the thermafil technique. He has attended numerous practice management seminars conducted by Linda Miles, a leading instructor in practice management.

Dr McClanahan was my dentist many many years ago while I was in college at UNA. He did a bridge for me due to a missing permanent tooth, which was hereditary. I had that bridge for 15 years and only recently had it replaced due to it cracking. Since I've moved, a different dentist redid my bridge. I've had nothing but issues out of my new bridge (which was done by a dentist in Madison). I actually go in a couple of weeks to have it redone, AGAIN (which is not fun). It's made me so thankful and appreciative for Dr McClanahan, who gave me a wonderful bridge for 15 years-I never experienced pain! Wish I lived closer and could still be a patient here. I never experienced anxiety when visiting the densit until I had to leave this practice.

Michelle is an awesome hygienist. She is always sweet, kind and does a great cleaning my teeth. Dr. McClanahan is very kind,gentle and does a great job. We've been going to them for years. I highly recommend them.

Dr. McClannahan is an outstanding dentist. Susan Pride is the best dental hygentist and I would recommend them both to anyone. You can't beat all the staff and how wonderful they treat you.

From the moment that you walk into Dr. McClanahan's office you are greeted with a smile and pleasant hello. The wait time is great and the service given by the hygienist and dentist is above awesome. Would recommend this dentist office to anyone looking for a dentist.
