Dr. William J. Carter, D.D.S., M.S., has been practicing periodontics for over 29 years.He graduated with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Missouri School of Dentistry and completed a residency program in periodontics at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

Dr. Carter began his dental career with the U.S. Military.He served in the Dental Corps from 1972 to 1981, earning Commendations and the Meritorious Service Medal in 1981.Presently, he serves in the United States Army Reserve and is proud to serve the Hermitage community in private practice.

Tracyhas over 21 years of experience as an RDA and is Board certified to provide nitrous oxide monitoring, coronal polishing and dental radiology. Tracy has been assisting with Dr. Carter since 2004 and is very familiar with the procedures. She will review the treatment plan that Dr. Carter recommends to ensure the patient understands the procedure as well as the financial responsibility. She currently serves as the Office Relations Manager. She works closely with the referring dental practices, by coordinatingSeminars, Lunch and Learn sessions for the Doctors and staff as well as Implant planning and correspondence. She works closely with Dr. Carter to help educate referring offices on the techniques and materials used in our office. Her Goal is to continually improve the clinical coordination with other practices in order to provide you the patient with optimal care.

Lynne serves as our insurance specialist and has over 24 years of experience six years of which she worked as a Registered Dental Assistant. She has been with Dr. Carter for 7 years and will be happy to help you with your Dental Insurance Questions as well as treatment questions. Lynne also works with referring offices as an Office Relations Coordinator.

Jessica has completed an intensive training program at Remington College and is Board certified in Nitrous oxide monitoring and Radiology. She has been working closely with Dr. Carter for since 2010 assisting in surgical Procedures and helping to educate patients. She brings a gentle caring and compassionate attitude to our practice. Jessica will be glad to answer any questions you may have. Jessica also works as an Office Relations Coordinator to help improve our communication between offices.

Ronessa, completed her Dental Assisting program at Volunteer State in 2001. She is board certified in Radiology and Nitrous Oxide Monitoring. She has over 13 years of experience assisting in oral surgery and periodontal procedures. She is the newest member of our team and is compassionate, caring and liked by all.

Our hygienists are well adapted at patient education and help Dr. Carter in formation of individual treatment plans. Their objectives are not only to help you maintain good oral health but also to do complete oral exams and history. They continue to raise the bar when it comes to the non-surgical treatment of periodontal disease.

Mary has been with our practice since 1989. She offers exceptional hygiene care, with particular attention to detail. Along with periodontal cleanings and monitoring your periodontal health, Mary can answer your questions about the implications of changes to your periodontal probe readings.

Sarah Jane has been a dental hygienist for over 30 years. With this experience she brings skill, knowledge and compassion to our practice. Graduating from the University of TN at Memphis with a BS in dental hygiene she strives to continually educate herself and her patients. This and her caring nature is an asset to our practice.

After you have met with Dr. Carter and created a personalized treatment plan, we will schedule the TeethXpress procedure. During the procedure, 4 to 6 implants are surgically placed into your jaw with abutment posts. Your denture is then secured to the abutment posts with special prosthetic screws. The TeethXpress procedure typically can be completed in one day and can be done under local anesthesia.

We will either use your existing denture or have a denture created prior to the procedure so that you walk out that day with teeth. Discomfort from TeethXpress is usually minor and temporary. Dr. Carter may prescribe pain relievers for you as needed. A soft diet will be required during the initial healing phase.

After the procedure, the use of a medicated mouth wash is often recommended for two weeks. You will not brush or use a water pick during that time. After two weeks, you can start using a water pick on a slow speed. Follow your take home instructions and maintain your dental hygiene to ensure the long-term success of your treatment.

TeethXpress is designed as an immediate solution so that you walk out the same day with secure natural looking teeth. Initially you will only use a mediated mouth rinse prescribed by your TeethXpress dentist. Once your mouth is healed, you will use a waterpick to clean around the implants and under the secured denture. You will also schedule regular follow up visits with your TeethXpress dentist for cleanings.
