Originally from Keller, Texas, Dr. Rex Wildey is from a family of dentists. His father, Dr. William Wildey, is an Endodontist in Hurst, Texas and his brother, Dr. Tyler Wildey, is an Oral Surgeon in Austin, Texas.
After graduating from Baylor University with a degree in Finance, Dr. Rex went on to complete his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and his two-year advanced Pediatric training through The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
He and his wife, Jennifer, are proud parents of two sons and a daughter. He enjoys coaching T-Ball and softball, running, SUP (stand up paddleboarding) and he loves outdoor sports like hiking, skiing and surfing. Though a huge Texas Rangers baseball fan, he and his family fell in love with San Antonio during his post-doctoral training and decided to raise their family here.
Some children are born with a common condition called a tongue-tie (ankyloglossia) and/or a lip-tie, which results in restrictions that can create difficulty with breastfeeding, and lead to other health problems like speech and airway difficulties, dental decay, spacing, and even digestive issues.
During a procedure called a frenotomy, we use a laser light to release the frenum under the tongue or upper lip, which allows for a fuller range of motion. This procedure has very little discomfort and almost no bleeding; babies and children often sleep through the procedure. The laser also sterilizes upon touch, stimulating healing and reducing the chance of infection.
