Seeing your Lake Oswego, OR family dentist twice yearly can truly benefit your oral health. Keeping up with your oral care routine between dental visits will keep your teeth healthy and clean. Brush twice daily for at least two minutes. Floss once using a new strand of floss for each quarter of your mouth. This, coupled with regular dental examinations, will help keep your teeth, mouth, and oral tissues in top shape, free of decay and gum disease.

Oral health has a lot to do with your overall health and wellness. A healthy mouth can be a sign of a healthy body, while gum disease can be an indication of other health problems. The Academy of General Dentistry has stated that poor oral health has been associated with heart problems, premature births, and low birth weights. Your dentist in Lake Oswego, OR plays an important role in helping you maintain good oral health, which can contribute to better general health and wellness.

Maintaining good oral health can help prevent a wide range of health problems. A study done by the Academy of General Dentistry revealed that an astounding 90% of systemic diseases are rooted in poor oral conditions. More specifically, untreated oral health problems, such as gum disease, ulcers of the mouth, and even chronic dry mouth, can lead to serious disease within the body. Such diseases include oral cancer, pancreatic cancer, leukemia, heart disease, kidney disease, and diabetes.

According to the American Heart Association, individuals who have their teeth cleaned regularly by a dental professional have a lower risk of heart attack and stroke versus those who dont receive regular dental cleanings. Through regular dental cleanings, checkups, and other preventative care measures, your dentist can help in preventing these and other health problems from developing.

Just as your dentist can help you maintain better general health through good oral health, your dentist can also be the first one to diagnose health problems that have already developed. Signs of health concerns such as nighttime reflux disease, osteoporosis, diabetes, and dementia can all be exhibited in the condition of your teeth and gums.

Reflux disease erodes tooth enamel, but you might not even be aware of the problem since it occurs at night while you are sleeping. Receding gums and loose teeth can be an indication of weakened bones, which is a sign of osteoporosis. Loose teeth, bleeding gums, and gum disease are associated with diabetes while declining oral hygiene is one sign of dementia. Your dentist can recognize these warning signs so that you can see your doctor for a diagnosis.

By taking care of your mouth, including gums and teeth, you are also taking care of your general health and wellness. By getting regular dental cleanings and checkups from The Dentist On Boones Ferry every six months, in addition to good oral hygiene practices, your family dentist in Lake Oswego, OR can help with disease prevention and early detection of health problems.

What a pleasant experience at the dentist! From the moment you walk in the door, you are greeted warmly and have a comfortable waiting room. All of the dental techs and Dr. Peterson were knowledgeable, kind, and inviting. I will definitely be recommending The Dentist on Boones Ferry!!

This place is hit and miss. The hits are the Dr's and their assistants. The miss is their front receptionist. One specifically. Dealing with her is more painful that my root canals, teeth being drilled, and fillings all combined. She is so rude. The smoothest visits I had were when she was gone and others were covering the front. I thought she was fired due to her rudeness towards other patients as well because she was jaded about something in the office. It's unclear if it was due to the color of my skin, but what I noticed during my time there was that people with lighter shades of skin, she had more of a polite tone with them. I was even told I had amazing insurance, so I thought with that backing me I would at least be treated equally to attain my money benefit from my insurance. I was sadly mistaken. Just called to reschedule my appointment as you are supposed to 24 hours before your appointment and she was drilling me as to the circumstances as to me rescheduling with her attitude (I can only imagine she seen the schedule and seen it was that darker shaded guy again). So I had enough of walking on egg shells around her since she is in the front as soon as you walk in to get the the lovely doctors and their assistants. I think its time to shop somewhere else that offers dental quality in addition to a friendly staff up front. Just a tip if you have darker skin color, tread lightly and if you have amazing insurance, that doesn't matter. Still expect her to have a pep in her step with others and then a serious demeanor when you are up to the desk. Everyone else who doesnt have the darker skin issue, you will be treated like family here.

My whole family has been in to see Dr. Petersen and her friendly, professional team. Even my parents! We all highly recommend her office. Each interaction I've had with the receptionist has been lovely and helpful. My husband and I were super impressed with our hygienist who taught and advised us more than any other hygienists we've previously seen elsewhere. Very smart, thorough care. Then there's Dr. Petersen who is so knowledgeable, efficient, welcoming, and kind. I had to have a filling and it was such a quick and painless procedure. Also, our 3 year old son did so well with Dr. Petersen and I cannot say how grateful I am that my child's first experience with a dentist appointment was FUN! From check-in to check-out, you can count on great people and a great experience at The Dentist on Boones Ferry.

I recently noticed in a photo that my tooth was starting to look discolored. This has happened previously with another tooth of mine, and it was a dental emergency. So, I immediately called Dr. Petersen at The Dentist on Boones Ferry, and she got me in right away and helped me get the care I needed to solve this dental emergency quickly and efficiently. Her office space is beautiful and she and her staff are so welcoming, and she truly provides the highest quality care for her patients. She and her staff put you at ease and ensure you feel comfortable at their office. I am so grateful to have her as my dentist!

We love Dr. Petersen! My husband, 9 year old daughter and I all see her for all of our dental needs. Not only is she and the entire office staff awesome, but it's worth mentioning that she is especially great with kids as she's kind, gentle and has great positive energy :) My daughter recently had to have a cavity filled and it was a stress-free procedure - so that was a relief as a mom. Also, the office is warm and welcoming. Highly recommend!
