Dr. Shawn Bushey is a Springfield, MA native. After he graduated from Tufts School of Dental Medicine, he returned to the Pioneer Valley to practice dentistry. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Connecticut State Dental Association, and the Massachusetts Dental Society. He has an exceptional background in pediatrics and provides comprehensive cosmetic and restorative treatments for all ages.
Dr. Bushey is known for treating each patients specific dental needs and catering to them on a personal basis. Whole Family Dental, previously Karanian Dental, has been a private family oriented dental practice since 1959. Dr. Bushey purchased Whole Family Dental in 2019 from Dr. Tony Hill, where he will continue to deliver the comfortable, patient-centered dental care that he is known for in Western Massachusetts.
Our exceptional, friendly staff is our greatest asset. Our dental assistants and hygienists are professionals who pride themselves on staying up to date with cutting edge dentistry. They are excited about what they do, have high standards of quality and integrity, and are motivated to achieve the best results for our family of patients.
June has been a dental hygienist for over 25 years. She aims to make a difference in her patients oral health through education and motivation. When not at work, June enjoys reading, cooking, exercising, and spending time with her husband, kids, and her dog.
Debbie has been in dental front office administration for 29 years. She loves to build relationships with patients and helping them with any questions or concerns they may have. On her time off, she loves spending time with her grandchildren, camping, herping (the act of searching for amphibians or reptiles), and going for walks. She loves to read a good book and spoil her cat Sadie.
Bethany has been a registered dental hygienist for over 15 years. In her free time she loves to bake, crochet for her family and friends, take nature walks, and research her genealogy. Her goal is to create a positive and friendly environment while providing excellent patient education.
Whitney began working part time at Whole Family Dental in 2014. She enjoys working with patients both at the front desk and in her role as dental assistant. When not at work or in school, she enjoys spending time with family, baking, and creating art.

Everyone who works there is wonderful. Dr. Bushey has a good bedside manner, explains things and eases any fears. Highly recommend this practice.

After several people in my family started to go to Dr. Bushey and recommended him highly, I decided to try him out since I'd moved and my dentist was inconveniently far. I made an appointment for a cleaning, and off I went. The Whole Family Dental staff is so friendly and helpful and compassionate! I immediately felt at peace, which isn't common for me after years of dental trauma (not my last dentist, but years ago...awful stuff). The cleaning was gentle and thorough, and the hygienist and I really hit it off. Kinda felt like I was visiting my hairdresser. Good therapy. Lol Dr. Bushey himself was great! He's also friendly, caring, and professional. He listens, he answered all my questions, and I felt very good about seeing them all again. Cut to a few months later, when I had what I thought was a dental emergency (it's likely to be my sinus issues). They got me right in both times, and helped eliminate some of the possibilities. I felt very cared for, and I'm planning on sticking with Whole Family Dental!

I just had an upper crown done today, the first part. I am a very nervous dental patient, even for cleanings. Dr. Bushy was great, as was his assistant. I moved this appointment twice..lol all for nothing. Very understanding Dr. and staff. Also walked me through the multiple steps, with trial runs of the mold making process. Highly recommend

I have never had an experience with a doctor, hygienist and office staff that made such a good 1st time appointment go so easily. Wish I knew of them sooner. Wonderful people all around

Dr. Tony Hill was recommended to me when I chipped my front tooth in an accident. He expertly and solidly repaired my situation but it was his positive attitude and incredible empathy which kept me coming back. Even when he moved his practice from Amherst, MA to Enfield, CT I found he was not replaceable and I now happily travel over an hour just to see him for all my dentistry. Dr. Hill addresses my fears and anxieties with kindness and extra accommodations like smaller bite wings and smaller needles. Somehow Dr. Hill is able to deliver Novocaine painlessly and with limited duration. Dr. Hill equally impressed my father who also was a delighted patient. When I see Dr. Hill, I am made to feel like I'm with a trusted friend who truly cares about me and my dental health and who wants to do his very best for me. I feel the same way when I speak with his receptionist and staff. It's an attitude they have about prioritizing real connections with patients, sincerely caring and empathizing about unfortunate dental circumstances which they go out of their way to relieve with incredible expediency. Dr. Hill is actually the first dentist I every have very much looked forward to seeing!

I highly recommend Whole Family Dental. Start with the clean and very inviting waiting area. The polite , friendly and knowledgeable Staff in all area's. For the first time my entire family enjoys going to the dentist. Your appointment time, is the time your seen. I've never waited longer than 5 minutes. I recently had two crowns replaced by Doctor Hill. My results were nothing short of life changing! Truly! The original one's were uncomfortable and hard to keep clean. Eating was a challenge. Now, the one's they put in are incredible, I can't even tell there are there. There awesome! Thank you so much.

I have just recently started going to Dr. Hill, and I can say I'm very pleased. He's very kind and personable. Also, he makes you feel comfortable, and explains everything to you. I had a procedure and the following day, Dr. Hill called me to make sure everything was going alright. There are not many doctors who still do this, and it's wonderful. Not only is Dr. Hill great, but his staff members are very nice as well. I definitely recommend Dr. Hill.

My wife and I have been extremely pleased with Dr. Hill and his entire staff. I recently purchased a night guard to use while sleeping that protects your teeth from grinding. I put off getting one for years after finding the "over the counter" ones were bulky and I could not sleep with them. The specially molded one from Whole Family Dental fits perfectly and is a great product. I would not have waited for so long if I had known I would have had such success with this product. You only have one set of teeth. Take care of them. I highly recommend his practice to anyone looking for a dentist in the area. Like others have stated, Dr. Hill is a very nice person and also professional. His team is super friendly and we have had nothing but good experiences. They do not try to sell you services, they care about the health of your teeth so you do not have to have unnecessary work done. We are very fortunate to have found such a great dentist here!

Dr. Hill and his staff are amazing! When I walked into their office I had so much work that needed to be done it was overwhelming. I received grim prognosis from other dentists who offered me unrealistic estimates. Dr. Hill eased my mind & managed to get me back on track within a year. I can happily say I'm pain free, my smile looks better than ever & the bills were not at all ridiculous. I'm so impressed with the personal treatment my family & I have received. Every single employee in the office is more than willing to go above & beyond expectations, from Julie at the front desk to Maryann the hygienist, to Serena and Dr. Hill.... Everyone is truly there to help. I can honestly say I look forward to visiting my dentist now a days. I highly recommend Whole Family Dental without hesitation.

Dr. Hill is a very intelligent, kind, and gentle dentist. These are qualities I look for in a dentist as I have not had positive experiences in the past. He was very responsive to my anxieties when it came to having my teeth looked at and made me feel very comfortable in his capable hands. His staff is knowledgable and willing to help with any questions I have. The hygenist who cleans my teeth is a pro. I can confidently say I am no longer afraid of the dentist!
