Dr. Schwarczs proudest moments are when she can help a patient restore functionality following a procedure. She loves being able to help patients in her community enjoy the foods they love or feel comfortable smiling in public.
That love of community propelled Dr. Schwarcz to dedicate a year of her career to helping underserved Michiganders with their dental needs, for which she received the 2017 Delta Dental Community Commitment Award.
Dr. Schwarcz also believes that a dentist should be able to showcase their credentials to their community. She is an ADA member, as well as a member of the Michigan Dental Association and the Detroit District Dental Society.
Dentistry changed Dr. Schwarczs life in more ways than one. After deciding as a teen to pursue a career in dentistry, she spent a year studying in Israel and then got into NYU for her undergraduate degree.
Following a semester abroad in London, she returned to New York to begin preparing for her Dental Admissions Test. One day in class, a charming dental school student from Michigan named Amichai sat next to her and struck up a conversation about teeth. Rebecca smiled, and that was that. Rebecca and Amichai got married shortly after they passed their exams and spent a year living on the beach in Florida before returning to Detroit to begin their professional lives as dentists. They have a 4-year old son and recently welcomed their new baby girl into the world.
Sure, she values exercise and has a great love for the outdoors, long bike rides with her family, and hikes through the woods but she also has a voracious sweet tooth! Dr. Schwarczs newest hobby revolves around exploring the world of bean-to-bar chocolatiers, and she readily admits that those long bike rides... often end at an ice cream shop.
Dr. Natasha Aazami was born in Seattle Washington and moved to Troy Michigan when she was in kindergarten. She grew up visiting relatives in Toronto, taking part in all sorts of extracurricular activities, and travelling with her family.
Where she truly found inspiration was close to home: Her grandfather, who was her role model throughout her life, was also an oral surgeon and general dentist. His integrity and care toward his patients inspired and motivated her at any early age to pursue the dental profession. In high school, Dr. Aazami was accepted into an accelerated dental program, and attended her undergraduate studies at the University of Detroit Mercy. Following their completions, she pursued her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. After graduating, she went on to complete a General Practice Residency at the University of Toledo Medical Center to advance her clinical skills beyond the standard level of care. She is a member of Macomb Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, and Chicago Dental Society. In addition to being North East Regional Board of Dental Examiners (NERB) certified, Commission on Dental Competency Assessments (CDCA) certified, and American Board of Dental Examiners (ADEX) certified in the US, she is also National Dental Examining Board of Canada (NDEB) board certified Dr. Aazami loves to get her patients at Whole Dental to smile and feel comfortable enough that they open up to her with ease.
She emphasizes preventative care and makes it a priority to educate her patients every step of the way. She loves that she has the ability to fix somebody's ailment with her hands and tools in the same visit. A standout in her years since beginning to practice, was when she met a patient who had broken many of her front teeth in a car accident in the 80s. A selfless woman, she had the bare minimum done to fix them, and so had had many procedures over the years. As a retirement gift to herself, she wanted her teeth done in the best way possible.
With porcelain crowns on all of her upper and lower front teeth, the outcome was beautiful, and the patient was thrilled. Instances like that truly make Dr.Aazamis profession worth it. She also enjoys giving back by helping programs like Give Kids a Smile. She believes the exposure she had to her grandfather's practice growing up shaped her to be the honest provider she is today.Dr. Aazami believes in continuing education throughout life and consistently trying to improve one's self. When she isnt working, she enjoys traveling, learning about new cultures, working out, and staying on top of the latest technologies available here and abroad.
