I received my Dental Hygiene degree from University of New England. My goal with each patient is to ensure they are comfortable and relaxed while providing the highest quality of care. I am looking forward to developing long-term trusting relationships with all of my patients here. I was born and raised in Cushing, Maine and continue to live there now. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, snowboarding, golfing, hiking, and going to the lake during the summer.

Dr. William Bill Whitney has been enjoying doing dentistry for 25 years. Dr. Whitney grew up on Long Island, New York and attended the State University at Binghamton. During that time Dr. Whitney decided to pursue a dental career and spent 4 years at the Ohio State University dental program where he graduated with the degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery. Immediately after graduating, Dr. Whitney took a position practicing in a private office on the eastern end of Long Island. On days off from this location Dr. Whitney drove into New York City where he enjoyed working a second busy practice for the next two years. Despite the excellent opportunities close to home , Dr. Whitney desired a more relaxed setting somewhere a little quieter and a practice of his own . The search took him throughout the New England area but when the opportunity to purchase a dental practice in Damariscotta, Maine became available, Dr. Whitney decided it was time to leave the busy pace of New York for the beauty of Maine.

Upon relocating to Damariscotta, Dr. Whitney moved a small , one room downtown practice of 40 years into the newly remodeled 1840s sea captains home where the modern practice is located today. The facility offers five dental chairs all equipped with the latest dental software, digital x-ray and panoramic imaging system, as well as intraoral cameras for patient education and chairs equipped with cable television , all helping to provide quality and relaxing delivery of dental care.

During the 23 years Dr. Whitney has been practicing dentistry in Maine he has been able to transform his practice from doing cleanings for patients himself, to now providing a highly trained , professional staff of two excellent hygienists , a highly skilled office manager and an advanced qualified dental assistant. The office can also offer a network of local specialists for any necessary referrals.

Dr. Whitney has worked in the local schools as part of a state program providing sealant as well as donating fluoride treatments and educating children on the benefits of maintaining oral health. In addition to helping in the schools , Dr. Whitney also enjoys donating time, supplies and funding to charities and various community aid programs. Dr Whitney has also applied for privileges at Miles Memorial Hospital to provide assistance in treating dental emergencies.

When asked what he enjoys most about his career as a dentist, Dr. Whitney states, I enjoy helping patients that may have been hesitant to go see a dentist become proud of their dental health and their smile. I enjoy getting to know a little bit about each person as an individual, and allowing them to see that a dental office is not a place anyone needs to be worried about visiting. People quickly see how relaxed and how different a visit really is from what theyve imagined

Dr. Whitneys staff describes him as professional, personable, caring, and down-to-earth , spending most of his free time with his wife and two kids. When not in the office Dr. Whitney wants to be outdoors. His passions are doing anything with the kids, fishing, skiing, boating, playing hockey, playing golf and cooking.

I have to say this was the most relaxed visit I have ever had at a dentist appointment. Dr. Whitney and his staff are wonderful! I needed three broken teeth in a row up top and one broken tooth below the gumline on bottom taken out. Normally at the dentist I'd be gripping the arms of the chair. Not the case with Dr. Whitney. I just knew I was in good hands. No pain after the Novocaine wore off. Here it is the morning after... still no pain. No bruising or swelling. So if you're looking for a new dentist, look no further and set up an appointment now.

Such a kind, gentle dental service like I have never experienced in my life. Calming, great listening skills, not pushy about any procedures. Paulette the hygienist made the difference between cringing and being able to relax.

Fabulous staff. Amazingly talented dentist. He re-fit a lost cap for me on a front tooth so brilliantly and with such kindness and care, and I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for a dental office.

I had a bothersome molar that was occasionally painful. Dr Whitney thoroughly evaluated the tooth, the crown, and the root, and engaged with me to develop a monitoring plan that I feel very comfortable with.

My experiences at Dr. William Whitney's office could not have been worse. A numbing shot that caused severe facial pain and double eyesight. Doctor Whitney cut my lip with a burr, said oops, walked away and I got directions to Rite Aid for an antiseptic from the assistant. More serious problems caused by Dr. Whitney: A questionable crown according to a specialist. A bridge that had to be taken out twice and damaged a virgin tooth beyond repair which will cause lasting after effects. Several specialists had to repair the damage. Several fillings that had to be redone by my new dentist. FOLLOW-UP: In answer to the response of W. Whitney. This is an HONEST review of my experiences with this dental office! I filed a complaint with the Maine Dental Board which is still under review. In his answer, W. Whitney claims to have reimbursed my health insurance which is not true! Apparently, W. Whitney does not understand the word "extortion"! I did NOT have" a complete oral reconstruction" as W. Whitney claims. One highly respected specialist told me the dental care I have received at W. Whitney's office was mediocre at best. I am most definitely not a difficult person as W. Whitney claims. Everybody is welcome to ask my new dentist, the specialists who have worked with me to clean up the mess W. Whitney created, and my personal care physician. Also, I NEVER " visited "other doctors in town". I have NEVER written any reviews on other pages under" different names"! In the meanwhile, W. Whitney's Facebook page has changed several times...

My experience was great at this practice. I was new to the area and a friend recommended Dr. Whitney and his staff. I was pleased and brought my kids and husband for their semi annual exams, too. I would recommend him to anyone!
