A high technology CAD/CAM produced dental restoration that mimics nature more than traditional dental materials. CEREC restorations are done in ONE visit. They are beautiful, long lasting and made from enamel like materials. No temporary crowns, no bad tasting impression material and no repeat visits for dental treatment on the same tooth.
CAESY is the most comprehensive dental patient education program. It is dental education in the form of multimedia (computer animated). Each dental operatory has a dual monitor that displays this software to facilitate patient understanding of dental treatment and procedures. Various patient education videos are available ranging from flossing and brushing techniques to dental implants and periodontal disease.
This system is used on site for the fabrication of mouth guards and various other appliances. (Dr. Whiteman is proud to be the only dental office in Massachusetts to be certified by Dentsply to use the Eclipse system)
Dr. Whiteman was born and raised in Montreal, Canada. His undergraduate studies were completed at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Physics. From there he came to Boston to study dentistry at Boston University, at what is today known as Boston Medical Center.Dr. Whiteman successfully completed licensing examinations in three countries, including the prestigious National Dental Examining Board of Canada that allows for licensure in every province across the country. In addition, Dr. Whiteman received a perfect score in all four clinical sections of the Northeast Regional Board of Dental Examiners (U.S. examination for fifteen states and D.C.).These achievements reflect the exacting standards he applies to himself in regards to his dentistry.Highly committed to his profession, Dr. Whiteman is always studying his professional journals, attending study groups and taking courses in his field, far exceeding the required continuing education credit requirement mandated by the state of Massachusetts.
After practicing dentistry for ten years as an associate in many diverse clinical settings*, he opened his own startup dental practice in Brookline in 2003.It was his extensive experience in dentistry prior to establishing his own practice that aided Dr. Whiteman in his conception of what kind of practice he wanted in terms of staff, equipment, materials, and technology. Dr. Whiteman did not take any patients from any of the previous practices he worked in.In keeping with his honest approach to life and practice, he built his practice the hard but ethical way.Instead of purchasing a practice, he built one from scratch, using word of mouth as virtually the only means of building his practice. Many of Dr. Whitemans previous patients have sought him out on their own accord.
Recently Dr.Whiteman was awarded Mastership Certification - the highest level of certification available from the World Clinical Laser Institute. This certification indicates that Dr. Whiteman has completed all of the training and requirementsrelating to Laser Physics, Safety and RegulatoryGuidelines with the Er, Cr: YSGG Laser.
It is my philosophy that all health care workers have a responsibility to provide the best care possible for the patients they are treating. It is our job to be both teacher and healer.By educating the patient on the nature of the disease process, its prevention and treatment, a level of disease prevention can be maintained.
We are committed to the success of your dental treatment and want to provide you with the best service available. To help reduce our administrative costs and keep our fees to you as low as possible, we require payments to be made at or prior to the time that you (or your family members) receive treatment.
Typically, dental insurance does not cover the full cost of your treatment and there is a calendar maximum benefit as well. Based on your plan, we usually can estimate (but do not guarantee) the amount your insurance will cover. We are currently members of Delta Dental and Blue Cross Blue Shield. This means that patients with these insurances make their co-payment on the date services are delivered. If your insurance company provides misleading, inaccurate or otherwise false information or fails to pay their portion within 60 days after we submit your claim, you will be responsible for the full fee.
We also accept several other dental plans such as Metlife, Aetna, Cigna, etc. Patients with these insurances pay at the time of service and are directly reimbursed by their insurance company. As a courtesy to these patients, we submit insurance claims and paperwork electronically for expedited reimbursement. Depending on your plan, there may or may not be any out of pocket expenses. Typically any out of pocket expenses are minimal as the insurance company bases the reimbursement on the usual and customary fee for the area. Please note that regardless of what insurance a patient has, each patient is responsible for his/her own coverage and payment is expected when treatment is completed.
*Please note: Unlike most other dental offices that charge patients for copies of their x-rays and dental records, we believe that patient records belong to the patient and therefore there is no fee associated with requesting copies of your personal file. Please note that due to HIPPA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) all dental record requests must be made in writing.
Our dentist combined restorative and cosmetic dentistry treatment for this patient to achieve a beautiful outcome. First, we used the Zoom! teeth whitening system to improve the color of the natural teeth. Then, we placed six dental crowns on the upper front teeth to improve aesthetics and close the space.
We accept most major insurance plans, including those from Delta Dental, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, MetLife, Aetna, and Cigna. Typically, dental insurance will cover the cost of the medically necessary procedures included in your treatment plan. But, additional cosmetic dentistry treatments aren't covered, though they can greatly contribute to your smile makeover results.
We accept cash, checks, and credit cards at our practice. Many patients choose to use a no- or low-interest credit card to cover the out-of-pocket costs of treatment so they can pay these expenses off over the course of several months.
Depending on your needs and goals, your full mouth reconstruction can include any number of restorative procedures, from more conservative options like fillings to surgical procedures like the placement of dental implants.
If left untreated, a root canal infection can spread beyond the teeth to the gums and the hard tissues of the jaw. Root canal therapy can be performed to remove the infected pulp from the tooth, fill it with a synthetic substance, and often, place a crown on the tooth.
In cases where a filling cannot adequately repair a damaged tooth, yet a dental crown would not be necessary, an inlay or onlay may offer an ideal solution. An inlay is a custom restoration that only covers the biting surface of a tooth, while an onlay extends beyond the pointed cusps and down the sides of a tooth.
These custom caps are used to completely cover the surface of a tooth that has suffered significant damage. Thanks to our in-office CEREC (chairside economical restoration of esthetic ceramics) machine, we can provide same-day crowns in many cases.
Bridges are custom restorations made from multiple artificial teeth that have been fused together. If you are missing up to three consecutive teeth, a dental bridge can fill in the gap in your smile and bring balance back to your bite. Bridges can be held in place with dental crowns or implants.
We can use a partial denture to replace several teeth or use a complete denture to replace an entire row. Dentures can be held in place with a combination of suction and dental adhesives or with dental implants. Dentures secured with implants are considered the better option in most cases.
These small, metal implant posts are placed into the jaw to serve as artificial tooth roots. We will use our advanced technology to determine precisely where each implant should be placed in the jaw. Once healed, dental implants can provide unmatched support for a crown, bridge, or denture.
If you don't have enough density and volume in the jaw, it won't be able to provide adequate support for dental implants. We can perform a bone graft procedure to add more volume to the jaw and improve your candidacy for implants.
We offer scaling and root planing to deep clean the fronts and backs of the teeth, the spaces between the teeth, and tooth structure below the gumline. This treatment is best suited to patients with gingivitis or moderate gum disease. For more advanced cases of gum disease, we can refer you to a trusted periodontist for more involved care.
What a great dental experience for anyone who has had bad experiences in the past. Not only is everyone in the office friendly and inviting, but they truly know their stuff! The cleaning was quick and easy. I had to have a filling done and I felt no paid. Dr. Whiteman is a cheerful nice guy, one I would enjoy talking to even if he wasn't my dentist. Definitely 5 stars!
My wife is a patient and recommended Whiteman Dental to me. They do a great job! I liked them right away. They answer all questions, the work is great, and it's always a great experience. I highly recommend them! 2nd (new) review - I have been a patient for awhile. I had a great visit as always! Dr. Whiteman and the staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Great job! I'd recommend to anyone that needs a dentist!
