Dr. Shumate received her doctorate of dental surgery cum laude from The Ohio State University. She graduated with a B.S. in chemical engineering magna cum laude from the University of Toledo. She is a lifelong resident of the area, growing up ten minutes south of Whitehouse in rural Grand Rapids, Ohio and attending Otsego High School. Dr. Shumate along with her husband and two young children live inWhitehouse, Ohio. She loves running and biking on the Wabash Cannonball trail and visiting Oak Openings.
Dr. Shumate provides full service general dentistry including fillings and composite bonding, extractions, crowns, dentures, Clear Correct limited orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, and airway dentistry.You will find Dr. Shumate compassionate, gentle, and willing to spend the time it takes to get to know her patients and their individual needs.
Dr. Rick is also a graduate of the Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Prior to attending dental school, he graduated from the University of Toledo with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He grew up in Swanton, Ohio and graduated from Swanton High School. Dr. Rick enjoys spending time with his family and Crossfit training. He is active in his local church and occasionally plays the keyboard in the worship band. Dr. Rick has completed extensive training with the highly acclaimed Dawson Academy in order to provide full mouth rehabilitation and excellent cosmetic dentistry for his patients.Dr. Rick enjoys providing comprehensive dentistry to his patients with compassion and integrity.
Cori is a dental hygienist at our office. She has twenty years of experience as a dental hygienist. She obtainedher dental hygiene degree from Owens Community College. Cori grew up in Toledo and attended Central Catholic High School. She now resides in Whitehouse with her husband and two daughters. She loves watching her girls play soccer and enjoys the lake life in Michigan. Cori treats her patients like family and really likes to build a relationship with them.
Christine is our office manager. She has a cheerful personality and is a great resource for our patients and staff.She grew up in Michigan but has lived in Nevada, Colorado, and Connecticut. She has been a dental assistant for over 25 years before she stepped into her role as office manager. She and her husband have three daughters that attend Notre Dame Academy. She loves watching her girls play soccer.
Cathy helps keep our office organized with her skills in bookkeeping. Cathy grew up in Smiths Station, Alabama, and she now resides in Monclova, Ohio. In her spare time, Cathy uses her creativity and interior design skills to bring outdated furniture back to life through refurbishing. Cathy and her husband are proud Auburn fans and are excited to support their daughter as an Auburn student.

Drs. Shumate and their staff are wonderful. They do a thorough job, tell you what you need to know and value your time. I have never had to wait more than five minutes upon arrival. The endodontist referrals they've made have been top-notch. I highly recommend Whitehouse Family Dental.

I love this family practice. They have been so good to me. Honestly, they are at the top of their field when it comes to care and technique. They have an excellent educational background, very professional, and polite. It's not very often that you find a dentist that leaves little to be desired from billing to quality informed care.

I've been going to WFD for a few years now and have found it to be well run, and totally professional. It offers a welcoming, clean environment. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable. COVID protocols assure a safe visit.

The most pleasant experience at the dentist I have ever had. My appointment started when it was scheduled, the office was clean and beautiful, and the staff was so amazing! The people who work at Whitehouse Family Dental are genuinely kind are care about their patients. I would recommend coming here to any friends or family!
