The Whitehead name has deep roots when it comes to providing exceptional care and service. Dr. Whitehead is the fourth generation delivering care to South Carolinians! Although he is the first orthodontist in his family, his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather were all physicians. His great-grandfather began practicing in 1892. In addition, his maternal grandfather and great-grandfather were local pharmacists.

Dr. James D. Whitehead has been practicing orthodontics in the Lexington area for more than a decade. A South Carolina native, he received his BS from Clemson University, and his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree (DMD) from the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Whitehead completed his residency in orthodontics at the Medical College of Georgia, where he earned his certificate of specialization, as well as his MS in oral biology. Dr. Whitehead regularly attends continuing education meetings and courses that keep him abreast of the latest developments in technology and orthodontic care. He holds active memberships to local, state and national dental and orthodontic organizations, including the South Carolina Dental Association, Southern Association of Orthodontists and the American Association of Orthodontists. Dr. Whitehead is an avid sportsman, and enjoys spending time with his wife, Crissy, and their three sons.

My baby got braces this morning and he did fantastic!! I highly recommend Whitehead Orthodontics!! We were enthralled with how efficient and kind-hearted all of the staff were. Furthermore, the office is absolutely gorgeous and super clean!! Im overjoyed to experience my sons braces journey with Dr. Whitehead and his staff.

These people took my braces off and grinded my enamel thin while removing the glue adhesive, causing permanent lifelong enamel damage on 6 of my teeth. Do NOT risk it!! Their malpractice caused me to pay for tooth bonding that needs to be kept up and paid for for the rest of my life! I am extremely distraught that 6 of my front teeth are forever damaged, prone to stains, and cause sensitivity and pain to cold and hot food and sweets. My procedure is very expensive and i had just graduated highschool, this sets me back so far if i had any chance of paying for college.

I walked in and for a minute thought I was back in California. What a beautiful office and beautiful environment. If you are looking for top notch quality and service combined with invaluable knowledge and experiencelook no further than Whitehead Orthodontics. I highly recommend for any and everyone looking for the right place to go, youll be glad you did. 5 stars and if 10 were possible well they definitely would receive it!!

Both my daughter and I have gotten Invisalign from Dr. Whitehead and have been very pleased with their professionalism and amount of care they take with each and every patient. My daughter loves the point system where she can earn points to use toward gift cards to some of her favorite stores. Its such a great incentive. The staff is always so friendly and you can tell its a happy work environment.

I can not say enough positive things about Dr. Whitehead and the assistants that work for him. They go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and part of the Whitehead team. Dont think twice. They wont dissapyyoy.

Dr. Whitehead gave us multiple options detailing different treatment plans and pricing. I appreciate having him explain everything as well as his recommendations for the best final results. Dr Whitehead and staff are awesome. Our daugther has had her braces since August 2018 and the transformation of her teeth and smile have evolved before our eyes. Dr. Whitehead is very knowledgeable and we trust his plan for Elizabeth. The staff is very caring and we know we are in good hands with them. I highly recommend Dr Whitehead for your orthodontic needs.

I have 4 daughters who have required braces. Two of them (twins) have used Dr. Whitehead and we have had a couple of issues. First of all, Dr. Whiteheads office made a couple of errors recording my payments properly, requiring me to do a fair amount of work providing proof of payment and following up. Further, my dentist recommended that I call Dr. Whitehead about some molars that had not come in for each of my twins which may nor may not require additional work. I have made 2 phone calls over the last 3-4 weeks to Dr. Whitehead and have yet to receive a return phone call. Whether the molars will be an issue in the future or not, time will tell, but apparently Dr. Whitehead does not seem to want to discuss it. Meanwhile, there are other options in Lexington for orthodontics (namely, Dr. Hines) and given the better experience weve had with the other orthadontist over Dr. Whiitehead, I would not recommend using Dr. Whitehead.

At my very first consult I was so embarrassed having to get braces as an adult. Dr. Whitehead and his team made my experience so pleasant and made me feel so at ease with my journey. It doesnt matter how old you are, everyone deserves a beautiful smile. I couldnt have chosen a better practice for my care. Thank you so much Dr. Whitehead and staff! My children arent ready for braces yet but when the time is right, I wouldnt take them anywhere else.

Lexington is so lucky to have an Orthodontist of Dr. Whiteheads caliber. He did an amazing job getting an excellent result in exactly the time predicted! And he has one of the nicest staffs anywhere! A superb experience I recommend him highly.

I have four children that see Dr. W!! He and his staff are great with all of them and their specific needs. His office always have smiling faces and great attitudes! I always recommend WO to everyone! I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for an orthodontist.
