Dr. Smith & Dr. Keil are a husband-and-wife dental team! Through their kind and compassionate way of practicing dentistry, they will help put you at ease during your dental visits. The couple does not believe in selling healthcare, they will only recommend what you actually need.
White Oaks Dental was named for the couples love of the outdoors in the great state of Michigan. There are even a few mature oak trees on the property where the practice is located. White Oaks are a historical symbol of peace and calmness, something they aim to bring to dentistry.
Dr. Smith is originally from Portage and attended Portage Northern High School. He then went to Michigan State University where he received B.S. degrees in Physiology and Human Biology. He went on to earn his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (D.D.S) degree at the University of Michigan, where he met his future wife. After graduating, he worked in Toledo as an associate dentist. He enjoys woodworking, playing the drums, gardening, and his dogs.
Dr. Keil grew up in Ann Arbor and completed her undergraduate studies at Michigan State University, earning a B.S. in Psychology. She then continued her education at the University of Michigan, where she received her D.D.S. After graduating, she worked in Ann Arbor as an associate dentist. Dr. Keil enjoys traveling, crafting, hiking, and spending time with her dogs. Dr. Keil and Dr. Smith welcomed their first baby in the Fall of 2021.
I was born and raised in Michigan. At the age of 18, I decided I wanted to see the world, so I joined the United States Air Force, where I started my journey in the dental field. I spent a total of nine years active duty as a dental assistant and then went to Dental Hygiene school on an Air Force scholarship. I graduated in 2005, and have been practicing dental hygiene ever since. I am also licensed to administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide. I have a passion for teaching my patients the best ways to achieve healthy oral hygiene.
I have been married for 20 years; we have two children. Our daughter is a student at UCF in Florida and our son is in high school. Between horse shows and sports, we stay very busy all year long. I love our two cats and our five-year-old big baby, black lab. I love to craft, take naps, and watch Netflix.
I graduated Dental school in 1983 and have enjoyed meeting all kinds of new people while helping them with their dental needs. While not at work, I enjoy making cards, scrapbooking, spending time relaxing in my pool, and traveling to new places for new adventures with my friends and family.
I grew up in the Plainwell area and live there currently. I have three children: one son and two daughters. Spring and summer are my favorite times of the year. I love the outdoors, going on boat rides, relaxing on the beach, collecting beach glass and Petosky stones, and planting flowers.
I started dental assisting in 2009. Dentistry is definitely my passion; I have a special tenderness for helping our patients feel comfortable. I love learning new techniques to better the patients experience in our office.
My husband and I enjoy spending time gardening, going to the beach to watch sunsets, rooting for UofM football, watching Nascar races, taking spontaneous trips, and checking out new restaurants with friends and family. I also enjoy quilting, swimming, and relaxing in my hammock with a great book.
I am the mom of two amazing kids. Together, we like to explore Michigan. We enjoy looking for rocks and bleach glass among our amazing Great Lakes. In my spare time, I like to scrapbook all our adventures and special memories.
