Dr. Rankie earned his post-doctorate Orthodontics and Oralfacial Orthopedics specialty degree at the prestigious Eastman Institute for Oral Health, Rochester NY. While at Eastman, Dr. Rankie was a staff member of the Strong Memorial Hospital and a valued member of their multidisciplinary Cleft and Craniofacial Treatment Team.
Dr. Rankie completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Buffalo School of Dental Medicine in 2010, where he graduated first in his class. During his four years at Buffalo, he was elected class president, earned multiple awards for excellence, served on several professional committees, and was hired by the University to provide academic and pre-clinical tutoring for dental students.
Dr. Rankie completed several months of research at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research in Bethesda, MD while an undergraduate at Colgate University. He presented his research findings at the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) Calcium and Cell Function Conference. He also completed a research fellowship at Colgate University.
Dr. Rankies professional honors include the prestigious American Association of Orthodontics Award (2010), induction into Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society, and multiple merit-based scholarships and fellowships.

Dr. Rankie has lectured nationally and internationally on treatment with Invisalign. He frequently presents lectures to dentists in the community for which the dentists earn their required continuing education credits from the State of Maine. Additionally, Dr. Rankie lectures as part of the Dental Careers Institute.
Dr. Rankie has a long history of community service including Give Kids a Smile Day and Dentists Who Care (providing free dental care to children in the community), Childrens Dental Health Month (dental awareness volunteer), Smile Education Day (educating elementary school children in oral hygiene), and the Ride for Roswell (cancer fundraiser and activity participant), and mentorship of elementary and middle school students.
Dr. Rankie is an avid outdoorsman, he enjoys hiking, surfing, cycling, skiing, swimming, boating, and fishing throughout New England. He can often be found hiking, skiing, fishing or lobstering with friends, family, and Abbi, his golden retriever.

Dr. Rankie is amazing. He has a gentle demeanor that works perfectly with children and sets a worried parent (me) at ease. He and his wonderful staff made my son feel completely welcome and relaxed in his office. I could not imagine having gone anywhere else. This is a beautifully designed space and the location can't be beat. I don't think that anyone hopes for their children to have to get braces or orthodontics but if the rest of my children do need orthodontic work, I'm definitely coming back to Dr. Rankie. This sounds over the top, but if I could have given a higher recommendation I would have.

My daughter might have been their hardest patient yet, but no matter the amount of times we had to reschedule, due to her fear & anxiety , Dr. Rankie and his team were always so patient with her and explained every step of the process. Everyone in the office always greets you with a smile - very clean, professional and prompt with appointment times. Seeing her smile change in such a short amount of time is truly mind blowing and will be the smile we capture for years to come!

Dr. Rankie and his staff are the friendliest group of people. They are so gentle with all of their patients, and all three locations are so welcoming and warming! The three locations make setting up appointments easy because of my sporadic schedule. Would give a million stars if I could. Definitely consider White Mountain Orthodontics before any others.

"My dog ate my retainer" probably is not the first excuse you expect to hear from an adult, but Dr. Rankie was there to help out. My original orthodontist is across the county, so after checking with others, I decided to go to Dr. Rankie. His prices were reasonable, he was accommodating (especially around the hectic holidays) and his staff was amazing. Additionally, the Conway location was conveniently located from Tamworth. He also went out of his way to make sure the retainer was a good fit and reassured me that he would be available if anything else happened. Thanks for the great service.

I am very pleased to have chosen White Mountain Orthodontics for my daughters orthodontic treatment. Very professional office with friendly and caring staff. So happy about the new Conway location. More convenient for follow up appointments. 3 offices are a definite plus! Dr Rankie is very warm, gentle and friendly to his patients. He brings knowledge and experience to his practice.
