Dr. Rankie earned his post-doctorate Orthodontics and Oralfacial Orthopedics specialty degree at the prestigious Eastman Institute for Oral Health, Rochester NY. While at Eastman, Dr. Rankie was a staff member of the Strong Memorial Hospital and a valued member of their multidisciplinary Cleft and Craniofacial Treatment Team.
Dr. Rankie completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Buffalo School of Dental Medicine in 2010, where he graduated first in his class. During his four years at Buffalo, he was elected class president, earned multiple awards for excellence, served on several professional committees, and was hired by the University to provide academic and pre-clinical tutoring for dental students.
Dr. Rankie completed several months of research at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research in Bethesda, MD while an undergraduate at Colgate University. He presented his research findings at the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) Calcium and Cell Function Conference. He also completed a research fellowship at Colgate University.
Dr. Rankies professional honors include the prestigious American Association of Orthodontics Award (2010), induction into Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society, and multiple merit-based scholarships and fellowships.

Dr. Rankie has lectured nationally and internationally on treatment with Invisalign. He frequently presents lectures to dentists in the community for which the dentists earn their required continuing education credits from the State of Maine. Additionally, Dr. Rankie lectures as part of the Dental Careers Institute.
Dr. Rankie has a long history of community service including Give Kids a Smile Day and Dentists Who Care (providing free dental care to children in the community), Childrens Dental Health Month (dental awareness volunteer), Smile Education Day (educating elementary school children in oral hygiene), and the Ride for Roswell (cancer fundraiser and activity participant), and mentorship of elementary and middle school students.
Dr. Rankie is an avid outdoorsman, he enjoys hiking, surfing, cycling, skiing, swimming, boating, and fishing throughout New England. He can often be found hiking, skiing, fishing or lobstering with friends, family, and Abbi, his golden retriever.

Dr. Rankie and all of his assistants provided me with wonderful care! I went to the Naples office to have my permanent retainer fixed and left the office feeling like I had received the most fantastic service by all. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Rankie and White Mountain Orthodontics to anyone.

I never thought I'd say it was a joy to go to a dental appointment, but that's the way I feel whenever I visit Dr. Rankie's office. This has been my best orthodontic experience ever, and I say that as a middle-aged person in braces for the second time! I first had braces in my teens, stopped wearing my retainer in my early twenties, and had to repeat orthodontia more than forty years later. I have full confidence in Dr. Rankie. He has superb training and experience, he uses the latest high-tech braces, and the results have been excellent for me. His payment plan was created to match my financial needs so I could achieve the final result I envision, and I know I'll reach that goal! I also have to say that he is among the most personable, easy-going and understanding providers I've ever met. The patience he and his staff have amazes me at times, because I have numerous, ongoing questions about the refinement work he is doing for me after I completed work last year with another orthodontist. Everyone at his office is caring and attentive, and someone always gets back to me promptly about any inquiry. Dr. Rankie and his staff truly "go the extra mile" in every possible way. I also appreciate that Dr. Rankie works with all ages of patients, and easily establishes rapport with everyone. He even has three convenient office locations: two in Maine and one in New Hampshire. With his dedication to helping others, I couldn't ask for more in an orthodontist! Did I say he's a fun and interesting, very nice guy too? It's worth saying again, and I highly recommend him for all your orthodontic needs!

I am very grateful that I met Dr. Rankie. I have a complex case and was interested in Invisalign vs's your traditional braces. I knew I needed someone with great patience and serious clinical expertise. After meeting with him and going over my treatment plan I knew he was the one! It has been well over a year since starting Invisalign treatment and I am very pleased with how things are turning out. He is such a perfectionist and I love that! I am so anxious to see the finished result! He and his staff have been nothing short of amazing. They are efficient, knowledgeable and caring. I would recommend White Moutain Ortho to anyone without hesitation.
