In times of crisis, White Bird is a key agency in the continuum of care for our community. We are Lane Countys Crisis Intervention Service. We are CAHOOTS (Crisis Assistance Helping Out On The Streets) the Mobile Crisis and Medic response team for Eugene-Springfields Public Safety System. We are a member of Lane County Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD).

Out of this effort came White Bird Socio-medical Aid Station (later White Bird Clinic), incorporated in February 1970 as a 501(c)3 non-profit agency. With the help of many volunteers, the group was able to rent a house, staff it 24/7, train folks in crisis intervention, hold medical clinics with doctors and nurses, offer legal advice with lawyers and paralegals, and guide drug experiences in a safe and supportive way. Word quickly spread that this was a place with caring and helpful people who didnt ask for money and who didnt judge or lecture.
What began as a grassroots effort evolved over time from being an experiment to a key agency in the community continuum of care, becoming credible to the larger community and finding funding from various sources including federal, state and local governments and foundations.
CAHOOTS (Crisis Assistance Helping Out On The Streets) provides mobile crisis intervention 24/7 in the Eugene-Springfield Metro area. CAHOOTS is dispatched through the Eugene police-fire-ambulance communications center, and within the Springfield urban growth boundary, dispatched through the Springfield non-emergency number.Each team consists of a medic (either a nurse or an EMT) & a crisis worker (who has at least several years experience in the mental health field).
CAHOOTS provides immediate stabilization in case of urgent medical need or psychological crisis, assessment, information, referral, advocacy & (in some cases) transportation to the next step in treatment. Any person who reports a crime in progress, violence, or a life-threatening emergency may receive a response from the police or emergency medical services instead of or in addition to CAHOOTS.
The power of White Birds CAHOOTS program lies in its community relationships and the ability of first responders to simply ask, How can I support you today? White Bird Clinic is proud to be a part of spreading this type of response across Oregon and the rest of the United States.

If you any event, kids, a job, a medical condition, such as myself that would prevent you from being able to answer their calls exactly when they call, don't bother going here. If you don't answer their calls exactly when they call, they cancel your appointments. On Thursday recieved a voice-mail, by the time I could open it, it was past hours, I was told I had til Friday to confirm my appointment. I called Friday, they had already canceled and filled the appointment because "I didn't answer when they called" (1pm)" I called to confirm at 2pm, well within their operating hours. They told me they go by phone calls not operating hours. The day after they canceled my appointment I recieved a text promp asking to confirm or cancel my appointment...

Do not go this place is a total joke staff is super rude and they have inexperienced students working on people all in one large rooms I got my tooth extracted in a room with 6 other people and they didn't even get the whole tooth now I have to go back to the dentist again just somewhere serious total waste of time this place needs to be shut down

A true medical miracle factory. Dr Ben and his fabulous assistant Amanda not only pulled my hurt tooth but also put a temporary filling in the other side. all on short notice too. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't be able to fight fire the next day. Thank you folks for the excellent service you provide .

Their dental hygienists are constantly canceling and rescheduling appointments with no notice. It happens all the time and they have done this for years. This morning I arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment just to learn that their hygienist called in sick that morning and they just phoned me 5 minutes before. They had no other hygienists to clean my teeth that day. To make it even worse their girls at the front desk are rude and unhelpful. They take no responsibility whatsoever and don't even apologize. It is a very unprofessional office.

I went to the walk in urgent care on Monday, 9/26/22. I was treated with the utmost respect, care, and compassion. I had a complicate situation with a broken root. It was very difficult to extract the broken part after they got the tooth out of the way. I was truly overwhelmed by the level of care I received. I'm 64 years old, and this was the best experience I have ever had with a dental procedure. I can even properly bite with my front teeth once again, and absolutely no pain or swelling by the following morning. I want to say one more time to the staff - Thank You for Your Kindness and Compassion.

I hate dentist visits my whole life. This was my second time there. They don't judge you upon bad teeth or try to give u the parent talk. They simply are there to help and be friendly and quick. I was very pleased with the work, the made sure they did the job right by verifying with an x-ray after which was a first for me. I donno why that wouldn't be standard at all dentists when getting a tooth pulled. I was in so much pain and they saved the day and with style. Thanks y'all. Hopefully I don't need anymore teeth pulled but if I do I know where to go. Also I will recommend the outstanding service y'all provide! Thanks alot!

A VERY FRUSTRATING TO WORK WITH WENT ON - 5-10-2022- FOR AN EMERGENCY APPOINTMENT.IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT INSURANCE.THEY DON'T HELP.THER'E INTERN DENTISTS ARE NOT REALLY HELP FULL @ ALL.I WOULD NOT SET FOOT BACK INTO THAT PLACE LIKE THAT ANY MORE.EVEN IF MY LIFE DEPENDED UPON THIS.I FEEL FOR THE NEXT PERSON OR PERSON.THAT GET HELP FROM THEM.

Had a good experience, these guys get a bad wrap I guess but I was in and out for a tooth extraction. I get really nervous for these things, but my dentist and his assistant were accommodating and patient. The tooth was removed with little discomfort. Good place if you're OHP/uninsured

I have a tooth that needs to be pulled I have high anxiety anytime I go to the dentist. Got there paid my $45.00 and they took my My blood pressure which was under the limit they said they would allow for having work done. They then said they were going to have to take it again the whole time I'm getting more and more nervous fearing that they are not going to do the work. They then said the second reading was above the limit and they refused to do any dental work on me. They also refused to refund me the $45. Great scam they have going preying on the people who can least afford to shell out money only to be told they can't help. I suggest White Bird clinic takes the patient's blood pressure before they take the patients money. My tooth is gotten worse I can't sleep I can hardly eat from the pain and I can't afford to have the work done especially now that I'm$45 poorer. I most likely will have to resort to getting a pair of pliers and pulling my own tooth.

The whole organization is part of the American culture that believes that poor people have to be treated like garbage. White Bird is completely worthless! May a giant sinkhole open up beneath them and swallow the whole building!

It's misleading. They claim Free. Maybe they have tiny print saying otherwise. I waited outside with 20 others in the cold, waiting for them to let us in. After we found warmth they advised us only 6 of us will get help. Then we filled out paperwork. As each brought up their paperwork to the desk they then asked for $45!!! I live 40min away and used precious gas_ for nothing. Still in pain and a messed up mouth. I don't have $ to spare that's why I was seeking help.

Disrespected me from the disables I have. They told me that is why I could never get a real app - plus I was rude to the people that work there an the doctors. Which is not true. So I will say that this is one of the worse places to go to for getting your teeth fixed.

The clinic is a godsend for me. I have been treated with kindness, and the work done is fabulous. I could not imagine going anywhere else! All the work done on my teeth, I'm extremely pleased with. I'm on disability and if it wasn't for Whitebird I would not be able to get work done on my teeth. Thank you Whitebird.

Not happy im doped up with paon meds from the hospital and i called to apologize that and i get turned away amd told i need to write an apology letter when im severely drugged. Not a fan.
