Dentistry is very rewarding: it is amazing to be able to transform a persons smile, relieve dental pain, and restore oral health and function. These procedures can improve a persons enjoyment of life and increase their confidence!
The practice of dentistry is a combination of art, science, and people. I love working with my hands and need lots of person-to-person interaction; I like being constantly challenged and needing to be innovative, too. The profession gives me all of that, along with the opportunity to really help others. I appreciate being able to tell a person that yes, something can be done to make them feel better, whether they have a toothache or are uncomfortable with their smile, and seeing the relief on their face.
I want the best for each person in my care. That starts with open communication and building trust. It is important for patients to understand what is happening in their mouth. Knowledge is empowering, and I want my patients to make informed decisions and feel confident in their choices. Taking time to explain a diagnosis, showing photos, and discussing treatment options, are all key to how I practice dentistry.
These professional organizations offer a range of educational opportunities, including meetings, lectures, and seminars, as well as journals. By taking advantage of these, I stay at the forefront of advancements in dentistry, incorporating the best into patient care.
Dentistry is about compassionately serving those clients who entrust us with their care. It is an honor to part of transforming peoples lives as they achieve a healthy mouth and a smile they are glad to share!
I chose to be a dentist after doinga medical mission trip to the Philippines during my senior year of college. While working in a remote village, a young eight-year-old boy came to the hospital; he had a severely infected tooth and his cheek was swollen to the size of a softball. I immediately saw how important dentistry could be, and how I had taken for granted the dental care I grew up with.
That experience informs how I care for each person who comes to us. I want to help people lead healthier, happier, fuller lives: alleviating dental pain, avoiding absences from school or work, chewing well, and being proud of their smiles!
One of the most exciting aspects of my profession is ongoing research that leads to new techniques and materials. Through continuing education, I stay current on the latest developments in dentistry, studying each and incorporating those which show the best results.
These organizations provide many avenues for learning, including meetings, seminars, and lectures. They also offer journals and other publications that discuss research and new approaches to dentistry.
Much of my free time is spent enjoying the great outdoors of Minnesota. I enjoy portaging in the boundary waters, camping, fishing, and hunting. Closer to home, I love relaxing with friends and family.
Our team is incredibly gifted and compassionate. Each is skilled, responsive, and dedicated to providing exceptional care to every person who steps through our doors. They are consummate professionals; they are also supportive, empathetic, and good-natured. It is amazing how much laughter echoes throughout our office!
I like being able to make a difference in peoples lives. A smile and an encouraging word can help a person feel more at ease in the dental office, showing that we care about their comfort. As our office manager, I strive to keep the practice running smoothly on a day-to-day basis. This allows the doctors and team to focus on each patients care and provides the best experience!
I enjoy connecting with our patients, learning about their lives and interests, while helping them improve their smiles. As a hygienist, I provide thorough and gentle cleanings and periodontal maintenance, helping people maintain teeth and gum health. I also offer practical education and lots of encouragement, so everyone knows how to keep their smile beautifully healthy!
I am happy when Im able to help people, especially those with dental anxiety. Making sure they are comfortable and informed during visits is very important and helps them leave the office at ease and smiling. As a dental assistant, I make sure everything is prepped and ready for every patient we see. Working chairside, I assist the doctor with the procedure while talking with our patients about what were doing and checking that they are comfortable.
In the summer months, I love to spend my free time tending to my veggie and flower gardens, along with mowing my lawn and making it look amazing. I love to hunt in the fall and ice fish as much as I can in the winter. I share my life with two dogs, a house cat, and a barn cat. I also love horses and competed in 4-H and WSCA for many years. Im a music lover, too. I can play the piano and am learning to play the drums.
I like giving our patients great dental experiences and being part of helping each achieve and keep a confident smile. As a dental assistant, I prepare the operatory, seat our patient, and prep them for their procedure. Working chairside, I assist the doctor with patient care and make sure our patient is at ease and comfortable throughout the process.
The best part of my job is seeing patients who do not feel confident in their smile complete their treatment plans and leave with a beautiful and healthy smile! To help this become a reality, I provide services that prevent cavities and gum disease, and educate my patients and recommend the best products for them. My goal is to help patients understand that their oral health is tied to their overall health!
