Along with his two brothers, Dr. John spent much of his childhood at his parents dental practice. He admired their love of dentistry and compassionate care of their patients and knew at a young age that he would follow in his their footsteps. John graduated from Peach County High School in 2004. Next, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Georgia in 2008 majoring in Turfgrass Management with minors in Crop and Soil Sciences and Horticulture. After undergrad he married his high school sweetheart, Katie James, in 2010. Finally, he attended dental school in Augusta at the Medical College of Georgia and graduated in 2014. While in school he took special interest in oral surgery as well as the technology rapidly evolving in dentistry. After graduation he joined the family dental practice and began to add some of the new techniques and technologies he learned to the already tried and true practice Dr. Greg and Dr. Linda had in place. Within the past two years we have implemented 3D printers into our daily practice along with digital impressions. The field is constantly changing but we take very seriously the vetting process of the most recent latest and greatest realizing that many times that is not the case. John practices the term evidence-based dentistry, and always wants to treat every patient just as he would treat his own family. Dr. John is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and Academy of Implant Dentistry and is currently working toward his fellowship in both organizations. He completed the American Academy of Implant Dentistry Maxi-Course in 2017 enabling him to provide implant services and bone grafting to our patients. He now resides in Perry with Katie, and their young children: Whit (born 2013), Grant (2015), and Avery James (2018). He loves being a Dad and takes the responsibility seriously. He has been an active member of Harmony Community Church in Byron since its inception in 2005. John is a craftsman who loves working with his hands to build things. His latest project is a flats fishing boat designed to take fishing along the coast. He also enjoys hunting and fishing, coaching his sons baseball teams, and spending time with his loved ones.

Dr. Whitaker and staff are by far the best experience I have ever had with dentistry. No long wait times, efficient, honest, kind, caring and extremely clean. They simply care. Worth the drive if you don't live in the area.

I was in so much pain and I called this office in tears and they got me in with me hesitation unlike the rest of these dentist office giving me every excuse in the book. They took good care of me numb me up good and got the problem fixed. They now have me as a forever patient. Dr. Davis was so good and talk to me through the extraction. I felt no pain at all. Her assistant even was awesome

Dr Kevin was so patient, informative and thorough! The hygienist Melody was very sweet and gentle. I get very nervous going to the dentist and I was totally at ease.

Do not recommend if you carry medicaid (peach state) Called to make an appt for my daughter was told they are a pediatric office only now. Since she hasn't been seen in a while they couldn't make an appointment since she is considered new patient to them. Then when I called back to address this lie I was told oh I misinformed you. I told her no ma'am you lied to me. Then proceeded to say You have to pay upfront first then get reimbursed from medicaid (peach state), due to previous patients insurance from each state not paying them. Filed a grievance with the insurance and they clearly lied to cover the office worker. Saying she never said any of that. They can pull the call records, since they say calls are recorded. To be discriminated against because you have medicaid, and lied to saying it's a pediatric only office. Is awful, then lie to the insurance company stating clearly I was lying. NO one reached out to me since that grievance, I have my call records. Next time just tell parents they have medicaid, so u cant be seen.

It's a shame that my own home town Macon GA would not take me in so my mom, aunt & GMA had to drive me 30 minutes away just to get my tooth pulled but it was totally worth it !!! Whitaker is the Best dentist to go to after months of getting turned down by Macon dentist I finally found Whitaker I called last 11/06 Thursday & they had me a scheduled to get my tooth extraction on Monday 11/09 wow how fast is that ? I'm super happy everyone in there is super sweet & they take social distancing very seriously well prepared for everything it didn't take long at all I would give them a 10 star if that was a option.

I missed a dental appointment after an unexpected family emergency and having to be quarantined due to exposure to COVID (keep in mind, I advised them of this when they texted to confirm the appointment) & today as I called to reschedule the appointment for me and my son, I was advised that I was "dismissed" meaning they are longer extending services to my son and I and we'd have to go elsewhere! This is my childhood dentist office that I was trying to return to. I am disappointed that my decision to do the right thing and not go around others while quarantining resulted in this office not wanting to assist us.

Absolutely love this dentist office and the entire staff! I have had multiple major procedures ranging from extractions, bone grafting, gum tissue shaping, and dental implants. I personally use Dr. John but have also seen a few of the other dentist as well. I cant brag enough on Dr. John's work and especially with dental implants. I was on the verge of giving up but Dr. John reassured me that he could restore my smile and that is EXACTLY what he has done. I finally feel confident in my smile again and I couldnt be happier with all the work he has done. Im thankful to have found this family owned dentist where the patient matters the most. -blessed
