Tuscaloosa native Dr. Brett Whitaker chose dentistry as his profession when he realized what an opportunity it is to help others achieve a better personal self by improving their oral health. Having grown up with a wonderful family, he wanted to build a practice with a family-centered environment to serve the Tuscaloosa community.

Dr. Whitaker attended Shelton State Community College and the University of Alabama for his undergraduate studies. While attending both colleges, he lettered in baseball for four years. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. During dental school, he was involved in outreach dentistry and clinical care which allowed him to provide a wide variety of dental procedures using current dental technologies, including CAD-CAM and dental implant restorations, cosmetic dentistry procedures and oral diagnosis using digital imaging.

Dr. Whitaker maintains an active continuing education calendar through his professional memberships in the American Dental Association and Alabama Dental Association. He enjoys golf and spending time at the lake with his parents and his sister, as well as having fun with his awesome niece and nephew.

I really enjoy helping our patients make financial arrangements to receive the services that they need, and explaining their dental insurance benefits. Dr. Whitaker has helped so many patients, it is very rewarding to support our patients with options to accept his treatment recommendations.

Marilyn has played an important role in the history of our practice. She originally joined the dental profession in 1971 as an assistant, and later become a dental hygienist in 1972. She has been a member of this practice since 1995, and helped pass the torch through the change of ownership to Dr. Whitaker. Today, she guides our patients in coordinating the details of their dental care.

Marilyn's easygoing manner and kind heart has been a great help to the families that we care for. Her interests outside of the office include spending fun time with her family and grandchildren, as well as gardening and sewing.

It is a pleasure to be part of Dr. Whitaker's practice, he has a very gentle manner. Our patients really appreciate the time he spends with them. We love it when they tell us they had a great experience and thank us for helping them find their dental home.

Kathy joined the dental profession in 1972 and has worked in all areas in the dental office, including as a dental hygienist. She has been with this practice since 1995, originally with Dr. Anderson and after the transition to Dr. Whitaker. We are proud to have Kathy on our team, she has a wealth of knowledge and loves helping our patients with their questions about dental care and taking care of their scheduling needs. Away from the office, Kathy enjoys spending time with her family and granddaughter, as well as gardening and cooking.

The 'before and after' of dentistry never ceases to amaze me, I once had a patient that had not had a cleaning in 10 years; after we removed the years of stain and buildup, it was clear to see his regained confidence in his beaming smile! It was wonderful to be able to make a difference for him.

Rachel joined the dental profession as an assistant in 2002 and became a licensed dental hygienist in 2005. Her warm, kind nature, and outgoing spirit make her an instant friend for everyone she meets. Rachel is married with three children, they enjoy going camping and mountain biking together.

Dentistry offers a great opportunity to be able to meet new people and help them keep their smiles healthy! I enjoy being a part of Dr. Whitaker's practice, we have a gentle, caring and experienced team that makes everyone feel like they are part of our big family.

Erica has been a dental assistant since 2007, her commitment to providing each patient with a comfortable experience and her compassionate approach make her a perfect fit for our practice. Outside of the office, Erica enjoys participating in outdoor activities with her husband and three children, and visiting with family and friends.

I love working with people and enjoy helping patients with whatever they need! Our team prides themselves in being friendly and providing the very best care. The results are great and it is wonderful when patients are happy with their smiles.

Debra began her career in dentistry in 2014 with Dr. Smith, and later joined our awesome blended team with Dr. Whitaker in 2020. Debra enjoys building relationships with our patients, and is always willing to go the extra mile to assist them with their dental care. Debra and her husband Jack enjoy spending time with their 4 children and 2 grandchildren, along with going to the beach, traveling and watching Netflix.

I love being a part of this practice. Dr. Whitaker and our team help patients feel more confident about their smiles, every day. Each of us has a sincere interest in getting to know our patients on a personal level, and treating them with respect, honesty and compassion.

Laurel joined Dr. Smith's dental team in 2017, she become part of our Whitaker Dentistry family in 2020. Laurel combines a genuine and caring spirit with her technical assisting skills to provide excellent care for her patients. Laurel and her husband have a newborn baby girl that they adore, and she also enjoys reading and cooking.

I am proud to be a member of the dental profession. I truly love having the ability to aid in improving our patients' overall health while building lasting relationships. Dr. Whitaker and each member of our team have very positive, upbeat attitudes. We are all passionate about providing the care that our patients need and deserve!

Angie chose dentistry as her future in 1998; she previously worked with Dr. Smith and joined the Whitaker Dentistry family in 2020. Angie is dedicated to caring for her patients and making sure they receive the information they need to make decisions about their dental health. At home, Angie enjoys spending time with her husband of 17 years, their 2 teenage sons and 12-year-old daughter.

I love my job! I really enjoy seeing my patients over and over, meeting new patients, helping patients establish a good oral hygiene regimen and maintain good oral hygiene. Dentistry is constantly changing, I like continually learning new skills to support my patients' oral health.

Linda has been in dentistry since 1989, she worked with Dr. Smith for 17 years and is now a member of the Whitaker Dentistry team. Her enthusiasm for promoting dental health is inspiring to us all! During her family time, Linda enjoys having fun with her grandchildren, as well as decorating and reading.

Angela has been married to David for 21 years, they have two wonderful sons. Both boys are active ball players; they especially love baseball. Angela and David enjoy traveling and making memories together as a family.
