Michael S. Scherer, D.D.S., M.D. is a board certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon practicing since 2004. He practices the full scope of surgical procedures utilizing a complete range of anesthetic techniques. Dr. Scherer attended Illinois Wesleyan University and graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He then attended the University of Illinois at Chicago where he received both a Bachelor of Science degree in Dentistry in 1998 and then was Salutatorian of his class when receiving his D.D.S. with honors in 1999. He went on to complete medical school and received his M.D. in 2002 at Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Scherer completed his training at the University Hospital of Cleveland/ Case Western Reserve University in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He was awarded his diplomate status by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in 2006.
Dr. Scherer practiced in Cleveland, Ohio prior to returning to our area. Dr. Scherer is an active member of local, state and national organizations for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and is on staff at Northwestern Hospital, formerly Central DuPage Hospital. Dr. Scherer maintains his skills and knowledge of emerging techniques and materials through continuing education. Dr. Scherer strives to provide his patients with the highest level of professional and personal care. He currently lives in Wheaton, IL with his three children.

I went in for a tooth extraction and implant. The process was smooth and painless. I can't imagine how another provider could improve on the experience.

I had a referral to come here from Ahoyt Family Dental for an implant consult. I was really surprised how amazing the team here is, I've had very horrific experiences in the past with dental surgeries. Terry was such a sweetheart and I felt like a personal connection she didn't treat me just like I was a potential dollar sign. Upon having my X-rays taken they discovered I actually still had a wisdom tooth that I thought previously was non existent. We decided to pull it right then and there, the entire team put me at ease as I am not someone that is used to deviating from the plan and having a tooth extraction thrown at me sent my head spinning a little but they made me feel so comfortable. Dr. SCHERER was amazing and numbed the entire area so well, pulled the tooth in like 2 minutes and I was out of there. They even let me play my "metal" music in the room and said they were into it. Haha. One of my very best dental experiences ever. Today is the day after the extraction and I literally feel like I'm in the matrix because it doesn't even feel like I had a tooth removed. 100/10 I'm very excited to continue my relationship with them when I am able to return for the implants.

Had a lesion removed from my tongue today. Dr Sherer and Nineth were fantastic. They were professional yet easy going and very pleasant. Everything was clearly explained to me which made me feel completely confident that I was in good hands. The office was also very clean and comfortable as well. I can't imagine anyone any better than Dr Sherer and team.

If you're in need of an excellent oral surgeon, you need to see Dr. Scherer at Wheaton Oral Surgery and Implants. I needed an option to replace a bridge that had no anchor teeth to hold it so I elected to get a permanent bridge with implants as the anchors. I take pride in a pretty smile and I trust Dr. Scherer to help me keep my smile!

Got my wisdom teeth out in October, and I am very thankful for Dr. Scherer's office. I was nervous going into it as it would not be an easy surgery, and everything went perfectly! Staff is very friendly, everyone communicated well from my initial inquiry to follow up's. They are very well organized and I definitely would recommend them to anyone feeling anxious about needing surgery!

I was very apprehensive when I walked into the office. Everyone put me at ease and offered detailed explanations of what procedures they would do. They made sure that I felt no pain. I was told what to expect for the next few days after the extraction. I would recommend Wheaton Oral Surgery to anyone.

Dr. Shearer is a gem! He's honest, takes his time, and genuinely cares about your well being. Additionally, he's an MD, oral surgeon & anesthesiologist - you won't find anyone more qualified than him. His staff also fought hard to get us reimbursed for my implants and bone grafting. We received a check for $4k, which was amazing. I would not trust my jaw, face & teeth to anyone else. Even if he's a little bit more expensive, it's well worth it because you are getting quality. When you invest $12k on your teeth, you don't want to go to someone less qualified for a few hundred bucks. Teeth effect your entire body, you want someone trustworthy and qualified. He is overqualified and worth every cent!

The staff were very friendly and love to make you laugh or smile. Had my upper Wisdom teeth removed and it was a quick procedure. The doctor was really nice and I highly recommend this place to get your teeth pulled or implants.

Very welcoming and knowledgeable staff. No waiting. I came in for an extraction and prep for a post. No pain with the Novocain. Procedure was just a little uncomfortable, which I expected. I don't think I was in there for more than 30 minutes.

Everyone at wheaton oral surgery are kind and caring. Terry is an exceptional employee- a real STAR. She shows total care for each patient. She was an angel to me today! DR Scherer is an excellent Oral surgeon who is not only a wonderful practitioner but also a caring, companionate man who i am blessed to also call him my friend. All of the staff greet their patients as if they were family.
